TJMaxx in East Haven has the best jewelry and handbag selection. I went to the new TJMaxx in Guilford today.Not as good as East Haven. I would not bother to go back.They should have stayed in Clinton. read more

This TJ Maxx is definitely the best stocked of all their locations. Clothing is merchandised well and everything is displayed in an appealing and attractive way. The store was clean and organized. Unfortunately, I did not see too many staff on the floor, but the cashiers were efficient. There is ample off the street parking right in front of the store. read more

Nice clean and organized store with a lot of good bargains. Plenty of clothes and shoes to choose from. One complaint was at checkout, they have a good system where the cashier area is numbered and I presume the light would be on to indicate availability. But on our particular checkout dsy, all the lights were on but only 4 cashier areas were staffed. Maybe an oversight on their part. read more

The prices are insanely low. Sometimes I don't even know how it's possible. The variety of items in their beauty section is great. Mario Badescu skincare!! Outstanding that they have this old school, excellent skincare line from NYC. And I always find the sales help to be actually, well, helpful. I really like shopping here. read more

3/12/20 My first, and possibly my only visit ever to this location. No, I didn't have a bad experience, it's just further away than one in North Haven, but I was in the area so here I am. I just stopped in to pick up a gift card as a birthday present for a relative. In - out..... easy peasy (sort of)! From the little I saw of the store, it looked well stocked and orderly. It would've gotten five stars but all the people working the registers seemed o be engaged in frivolous conversation with their customers. Not an issue if there wasn't a long line of people waiting to pay for their purchases. read more

TJ Maxx - 3/12/20...My first time at TJ Maxx & Home Goods! - Department Stores Near Me - East Haven, Connecticut

In a competitive field, this TJ Maxx is my favorite. I think because, when it comes to therapeutic shopping, proximity is absolutely essential. If I'm running errands on the Post Rd, I'll stop in there. And the Marshall's on Dixwell does have that mega-shoe section. But I am ever true to thee, TJ Maxx off-95. Not that I've bought anything SO GREAT here, but it's reliable and, of course, dirt cheap. Its level of disorganization is just such that it's entertaining, yet rewarding. The only nearby TJ Maxx I don't love is the North Haven store. I've only been once, but it was uninspiring. I'm not even sure why. Perhaps this calls for further study . . . Minus a star for the inevitably slow check-out. Not that I'm complaining, mind you. Also note, the TJ Maxx Homegoods on Dixwell is more TJ Maxx than Homegoods - I had no idea!! read more

I was looking for a specific cake stand with cover today. Nidia went out of her way to search through the isles with me and help me look. I absolutely LOVE TJ maxx, I always going shopping here. But unfortunately I'm giving only 4 stars due to a certain employee. This is now the 3rd time I've seen this woman be absolutely NASTY to the young girls that work in the fitting room. The name on her name tag was Maria. I think it's just awful how she treats them and she should be spoken to about it. I mean come on there is a time and place! Why embarrass another employee in front of customers! Im absolutely disgusted by her attitude towards them! I hope this helps so that these girls get treated a little better! read more

Staff is always super helpful and pleasant, the supervisors tend to be a bit more variable. Nicole (a coordinator)and Jacey (a stocker) were both super helpful in helping me find a few things, and then price a lovely singing bowl that was missing a price tag and wand, in the process putting the price tag on the attached pillow to avoid damaging the bowl. I go to the front and I'm showing my purchase off to the cashier, when a supervisor named Olga comes over, takes the price tag off of the pillow, and begins insisting the price was wrong and insinuating that I'd hidden the real tag somewhere and taken a tag from a different department. I tried to explain that Nicole and Jacey had helped me, and eventually had to print a price tag out for the bowl, to which Olga demands to know their names, and to my horror firmly plasters the price tag onto the side of the bowl. I grabbed the bowl back and carefully removed the tag, but the tag ended up taking quite a bit of the decoration with it, leaving the bottom looking scratched and beat up. When she saw that she had damaged the bowl, Olga flinched and hurried away without another word. The cashier was very apologetic, and rang me out without further incident. I went back to get Nicole and Jacey's names and explain my frustration to which they were both apologetic, promising to address the situation (and bumping this review up by a star). I understand that this store has an issue with price tags being shuffled around, but after being treated as rudely as I was and having my bowl damaged, it would have been nice for the supervisor to have apologized for acting rashly, or at least acknowledged what she'd done. read more

Was here last night to do some Christmas shopping. The store wasn't very crowded and was surprisingly clean and tidy. The customer service however left a lot to be desired. I had chosen an item that did not have a price tag on it. I had looked through all the other identical items and couldn't find a price on any of them. I brought the item to the checkout with the rest of my selections. It must have taken at least a half hour of waiting for the employees to figure out a price on this item. I had mentioned that comparable items in women's were a certain price. I had mentioned that none of the other boxes had a price tag but they went to look anyways. Apparently no one was in a hurry and if I didn't need that item for a gift I would have left. After all the back and forth with managers etc they finally chose a price. Annoying. Get your act together. read more

I love this store. I always find amazing deals here. The men's clothing selection is enormous and the prices are much lower than other stores. You can find name brands at unbeatable prices. This TJ Maxx also has a Home Goods Store and I've purchased many decorative items for my house. Their pillow and candles selections are the best. I've also purchased over 200 amethyst and other crystals for my office and my man cave: the prices are incredibly fair for these beautiful pieces. The staff is super friendly and they always welcome me when they see me. I don't know everyone's name, but Ruth, her daughter, the blond twins, the so sweet Demi Lovato lookalike, the tall guy with the Barry White voice and Addison are awesome, always providing exceptional customer service. The store is always remarkably clean too. The folks work so hard in this store and it shows. Great job everyone. I may still apply for the TJ Maxx credit card :-) read more

Forgetable retail items. All the sweaters they have are covered in lint, etc. Would not shop there.

Today I went to tj maxx to purchase a Ralph Lauren necklace I had my eye on for a few days, as well as a Michael kors bangle as a gift. I was not looking particularly fetching wearing Christmas fleece pants and a stained sweater ( when your infants sick, sometimes that's how you end up leaving the house unfortunately). I go up to the jewelry counter and a blonde associate with bangs late 40s asked me if I wanted to see anything, no sooner did she say that, another probably "more put together" looking comes over and she begins to assist her and tells me to hold on. After 10 minutes I decided to circle the store and maybe come back. I do this and she continues to ignore me after multiple customers are helped one after another. I believe my appearance led to her dismissive nature, however she missed out on a sure-Sale while ignoring me for casual browsers. I do not believe she should be fired, however definitely retrained in the customer service area. read more
