Firstly, I tried RVezy (like AirBNB) and they beautiful RVs to chooses from. We went to pick up our RV and it wasn't functioning properly. Cruise America (CA) in Fillmore had an RV available the next day. Bigger. Fewer amenities. Harold, a super nice guy, running a business outside the likes of a city environment, was nice and had the RV earlier than initially stated. That alone kept us on schedule. He heard my issues and helped immensely. I had an issue with the water pump, CA kept in contact with me and walked me through a process to correct it. I own a catamaran which is highly more sophisticated to deal with electronically, a RV with an issue that was resolved over the phone has never been my experience. CA and Harold at CA Fillmore have been good. By the way, it is less expensive the man RVezy by about a third. So I got a double win. I would use Harold in Fillmore and CA again. Read the online manual thoroughly. It helps a lot. Donna O read more

A Cruise America employee put her hands on me and lied to 911 about it -- here's what happened on my cross-country move I rented a motorhome from Cruise America to drive two elderly disabled women, one of them insulin dependent and on a breathing machine 24 hours a day, from Missouri to California. At pickup, the staff couldn't get the dipstick out of the first vehicle to check the oil. The one they gave me instead was missing the dipstick tube entirely, so it could go straight down and hit the engine's crankshaft and wreck it. I told the mechanic on site. He told me not to worry, just don't push it in too far. That was the extent of it. They rented it to me anyway. The vehicle was dirty, had body damage, a fuel gauge that didn't match reality, and a wrong odometer reading I had to correct myself on the paperwork. Partway through the trip we smelled propane, so I shut the whole system down, which meant buying an ice chest and ice on the road to keep my passenger's insulin cold. The microwave wouldn't stay put, a drawer kept popping open, and between everything we couldn't sleep in it, cook in it, or use the bathroom. Three nights of hotels, two rooms a night since both women needed their own space with their equipment. Then I return the vehicle on time, and the employee at the drop-off location won't inspect it, won't look at my paperwork, won't give me her name, and tells me the condition of the vehicle "isn't her problem." I start taking pictures to prove I returned it complete and on time. She comes running at me screaming profanity, physically pushes me trying to knock the phone out of my hand, and calls 911 telling the dispatcher I'm drunk and threatening her. None of that was true. Police showed up, talked to both of us, and asked me straight out if I wanted to press charges against her for putting her hands on me. I told them no. I wasn't cited or arrested. I sat right there and waited for them the whole time. After all of that, Cruise America's customer service offers me $50 and a $75 gift certificate, and wants me to sign something saying that's full and final and I won't bring any other claims against them. I'm not writing this looking for sympathy. I'm writing it so other people know what to check for before they rent from this company, especially if you're moving anyone with medical needs. And I don't think a company should get to make an employee assaulting a customer and lying to police disappear for $125 and a signature. Happy to answer questions if this has happened to anyone else read more

Bad RV Experiance! We thought this would be the best way to take our older parents on a road trip from Nebraska to Colorado. Having a bathroom on board to limit stops seemed great and a place to play cards along the way. From the beginning even though this was a 2027 25ft RV. This piece of junk handled poorly, on the highway. Every bump seemed to want to exit us to the ditch, it was a white-knuckle grip most all the way. I have driven all kinds of trucks, including box trucks, but this was the worst ever! To say it rattled is an understatement, it sounded like it was going to shake itself apart. It was so noisy it was hard to have a conversation without shouting. Even at a stop the back end had a large hum that would only go away after you started moving again. We were left with all kinds of things leftover from the last renter and had to stop in the first 10 minutes to remove the bugs from the windshield before our trip and then the final straw. Apparently, we drove through an electronic toll area, and three weeks later we receive bill for an $11.05 toll, with an upcharge for $19.95 handling fee. Absolute BS, don't waste your money. If this is what you get for a 2027 RV, I'd hate to think what you'd get for an older model. The customer service guy we picked it up from was nice but left out some key elements for charges and how to operate the pump for water, so we never used it. read more

Stay away from these sketchy crooks. They have RVs that have had a million recalls that they haven't taken care of and when they break down and leave you stranded they try and make you pay for the repairs. read more

I was getting antsy during our COVID lockdown after it had gotten extended two times so I convinced my husband we needed to take the kids distance learning literally. We did our research for RV rental and decided to go with Cruise America. I called and spoke to Harold and he gave me some good advice. I didn't feel pressured to book but in the end we chose to book our 26 day RV rental with Cruise America because of how he treated us over the phone. We had a great experience and would do it again! Once you book you do have to make an appointment for pick up. Watch the videos. Keep in mind it's not a run in and grab the keys situation. I would suggest a day on each end of your trip for loading, unloading and cleaning. We chose not to go with the bedding and kitchen package so it adds to the workload but for that long of a trip I wanted my own things. So the day we picked up we loaded her up and set off the next morning. Upon return it took us 2 hours to unload and clean up Old Faithful. We returned her the next morning. The only item we were disappointed in was the table was broken so we didn't feel comfortable breaking it down each night into a bed. We could have stopped by a Cruise America to have it swapped out but it wasn't a big deal, we survived. So check under the table. We had one mishap when we hit mirrors with a farming truck on a narrow bridge. We had chosen to skip the extra insurance and in the end our mishap cost us $150, still less than the extra insurance for the trip. Looking forward to our next adventure with Cruise America. read more

Beware! Stay clear of this establishment for your rental needs... We rented a Motorhome from The Cruise America Fillmore, California location. We had nothing but issues with the motorhome: 1. Both batteries drained and died due to the converter being broken leaving us stranded in Washington 2. Our 22 hour drive with a terrible sewage smell b/c we came to find out it was never dumped. Both Black and Gray were full even though the owner stated they were dumped (lies) 3. The battery had extreme corrosion (photos are in the notes at Cruise America). We were told we had to clean it to give us a little more help. 4. The interior was falling apart 5. The motorhome was in need of a front and rear wheel alignment making it difficult to drive 6. The generator wouldn't turn over...it didn't work. We couldn't use it. We felt completely unsafe and had great difficulty finding the help we needed on the road. When we were stranded we called the Cruise America hotline. We spoke with: 1. Kayla (hung up on my husband) 2. James (the "supervisor" who is completely incompetent in his job) belittled our intelligence. He claimed his knowledge was working at O'Rileys Auto Parts made him the know all. He said there is no way both batteries could die....well they did.....At this time we had a licensed Motorhome Auto-mechanic who was nice enough to help us diagnose the issue (Bradley's Mobile RV Repair out of Idaho...you have their info since they invoiced you and shared photos and diagnostics). James was Rude and gave the silent treatment to Bradley when he told him the diagnostics. He completely ignored what he said and Bradley had to further press the situation and Cruise America said just jump the battery and made us drive to an O'Rileys. Because Bradley was not given the authorization his hands were tied. He jumped the battery and went back to Idaho. Note: we needed a converter not a battery and Bradley could have fixed it right then and there. Upon arriving at O'Rileys...The assistant manager Izzy (who was wonderful) helped us and diagnostics came back same as before. The batteries, the starter, and Alternator was working at 100percent. At that moment I called back AGAIN and got... 3. David: semi helpful but also lied to us in saying he called Bradley back after the cluster thus far and he was returning with the part from Camping World. I had to call Bradley who said he wasn't coming back and didn't answer their calls. So the "Bradley will be back" was a lie. We called back AGAIN... 4. Christine: finally we were getting somewhere but we had to purchase a battery trickle charge and stay in the dark to get us to our next destination. 5. Caito: was the best! She listened and wished we started with her because this wouldn't have escalated this far. Caito tried to get us another repair shop to come and she couldn't find anyone She was hoping to find someone the next day Unfortunately, we had to leave between 5 and 6AM. She tried to find us somewhere in Oregon and successfully did but we didn't make it to Oregon by the time they closed. She did also check on us, but we were again forced to use the trickle charge and hope and pray it worked to get us home. Our trip was ultimately ruined and we got little to no support! Caito, Christine, and David said we could further discuss a refund once the motorhome was back in Fillmore. Caito said a refund is warranted from our ordeal. When returning the Motorhome to Fillmore, the gentlemen/owner was defensive and accusatory as if we were lying. Actually acted very much like James. He refused any conversation regarding a refund. And wouldn't accept his motorhome was problematic or there was lack of care at his establishment for his rigs. We tried to reach Caito again today and were told to call back after 4. We did and got another young lady who wasn't helpful. I didn't catch her name. She said since we turned in the vehicle there is no way to see our dialogue and problems. Also said the only person to give us a refund is the owner in Fillmore. He wouldn't. Never once did David, Christine or Cairo say the only person to give a refund was only the Fillmore man. She also said there is no human or department to help us now. What kind of customer service is that? We were told we were warranted a refund. We deserve a refund. I also would like to add we were traveling with two young children (aged 5 and 1). These conditions were downright unsafe and my children's lives were put in a bad situation. You basically left us to fend for ourselves. I even requested a new vehicle or other means of transportation and that wasn't a go. I sat on hold numerous times listening to your advertisement stating we would be safe in your vehicle. You were wrong! We will never use Cruise America again! Also, we have initiated a complaint with the BBB. read more

Cruise America - The battery under the hood. Really safe, right?! - RV Rental Near Me - Fillmore, California

I just got back from a weeklong camping trip and had no issues with our rental RV. I was a little nervous after reading the negative reviews but Harold assured me that his fleet was well-maintained and all vehicles were less than 3 years old. I previously rented from the Sun Valley location and everything always went smoothly. Our RV was delivered clean and everything worked well during our trip. It was not worn out in any way. Our RV had lots of storage space and towed our jet ski trailer with no problems. I had to get up in the middle of the night and put on a jacket because the air conditioner worked so well! read more

We rented the camper they said that it was three night minimum, well the first night it was good the campers are old they don't seem to be updated or service ... our battery died halfway in our trip we called the 800 number no one came to fix it or give us a jump or give us a new battery we had to spend the rest of our trip in the dark we couldn't go take our camper to the beach so we had to drive in our car ugh You can imagine by the third night everything was flooded because the motor that helps the water do It's thing was not the shower was flooded with the sewer water it was a freaking mess I will never rent from this place again!! not the location the gentleman at the location was fantastic. Cruise America you are a horrible company and your customer service sucks you left us stranded for 48 hours with no electricity and I have an 11 year old child still waiting for a refund for at least a night that I was in total darkness... All my food in the fridge that I had purchased for three days was ruined I had hotdogs hamburgers carne Asada, milk eggs read more

First time we used Cruise America we broke down our first night in the middle of nowhere and had to wait 6 hours for a tow. We then had to wait two days for a replacement RV so we could finish our trip. By that point the road trip we had planned for 2 years was ruined. They gave us a gift card for another rental in the future. They said it was all they could do to compensate us for the hassle. Of the thousands we spent, they only gave us a $200 gift card. Hardly even covers a night. Because of Covid-19 we weren't able to use the gift card until now. We went to a campground with our family and decided to get the RV since we would be pretty far out in the sticks with no restroom access. Although the RV had high miles and was kinda beat up, it seemed functional. Unfortunately it was not. Whenever we flushed the toilet, toilet water spilled out into the main hall/living area. DISGUSTING and UNSANITARY. I didn't notice it when we picked it up, but the floor is completely discolored where the water travels, suggesting this has been a problem for some time and just never addressed. Cruise America is a scam. They rent out crackhead motel rooms on wheels. I suggest finding another company to do business with. read more

What you really need to know is that its not any cheaper renting VS staying in 5 star hotel with an escalade too boot when you take everything into consideration on planning your trip. Plan on spending on average depending on how you travel about 500/600 a day. That's RV, GAS (can ave about 150-200 a day easy!) RV site all the incidentals and everything. Now all that's just fine and dandy but you need to take a deep breath when you pull the trigger on these things. Its a lot to kind of manage. If you have a co pilot that is REALLY gonna help you change the poo hose and plug it in and all that on and on. WELLIts gonna help with your decision here. If just YOU micro managing the whole lot with people waiting on you and stuff.. IT on the needs DONT DO IT! This is well suited for a big family, pets and the whole posse. The bigger one is nicer but cost more in gas than the smaller which are more expensive. You probably end up paying the same. Pros: The shower works great, the videos are super helpful. When you are at a RV site you can just plug the AC in and all the appliances work great. Its all relatively comfy inside. Cons: This thing is LOUD even at 60MPHOUR. Its pushing a brick through the wind folks. My ears are still ringing from my trip. You will have to shout to talk. It rattles and vibrates BIGTIME. You will be a little numb after a trip. I can't say i would rent again. its just too expensive and SO LOUD. However, this thing would ROCK at an all day festival type deal. Now THAT might where this thing shines or convention or something where you don't drive far. Get 5 peeps to chip in and go to that all dayer in style! read more

My wife and I randomly decided this past weekend to rent an RV and take our 3 kids plus one of their cousins on a family Road trip I must say it was one of the best road trips I'd ever been on in my life. The motor home was comfortable. Easy to operate. The manager gave us incredibly good direction on how to do the dumping part of it. And everything went very smoothly. I would do it all over again in a heart beat ! read more

The operator was not wearing a mask on pick up or drop off. His children were also running around the shop without masks on as well. I don't care about your politics. Wear a mask. He was also rude and condescending during pick up since I had not read every word of the confirmation email before picking up my RV. 100% will not be returning to this Cruise America location. read more

If I could rate a zero I would . Save yourself the terrible experience dont rent from this company. They rip you off. We rented for the first time and had the worst experience ever. we rented for four days since it was a holiday. We returned the RV one day early with the same amount of gas that we had rented it for. They were closed so we left the keys in drop off slot and waited for a call to confirm they received and no one called us. I called in and spoke to the only person that works there and he told us we would be charged a small fee of $ 40 for filling the propane tank which we knew. When we were refunded, they charged us $160 for not putting the gas which was a total lie since we returned it with the same amount as when we rented it. I called and spoke to the customer service rep and explain to them that we had put the exact same amount of gas as when we rented he said he would send a message to his supervisor, and it was up to them to decide to refund us for the gas that we had put. We never heard back from the company at all. Not acceptable at all. They should not even be in business ripping hard working people off. Save yourself the trouble and rent with another company. read more

The RV rental units are absolutely disgusting and not clean whatsoever. Old units, felt like they were trying to rent a death trap. Harold the operator of this location, I should've known when we entered the the shop. It is a nasty unorganized mess. Needless to say, we denied our rental unit and walked away. read more

Very very happy with my experience. Harold was more than helpful from the start. I had a bunch of questions and he answered them all. He was upfront with all the costs and how it works with the credit card billing. The RV was very nice and simple. Everything worked well which is no small statement when it comes to RVs. Had a great time at the beach and when I returned it... Harold was there to check me out. There was no extra charges ( which I am always leary of when it comes to rentals) and of course I will be renting from them again... which really is the biggest factor overall. Thanks again Harold for the great experience.... You get 5 stars!!! read more

Talk about a nightmare! After so many years of renting from El Monte RV I decided to try Cruise America in order to save a few bucks---big mistake. 1-Dump valves were left open which means the toilet emptied onto the ground. You would think they'd be closed when you rent. 2-Air conditioning died on the second day. 3-Toilet malfunctioned on the second day and dumped all of the fresh water into the gray water tank which in turn overflowed and flooded the RV. 4-No water in the washer fluid reservoir. 5-Fresh water tank was not filled at the time of rental. 6-I returned after five days because of the A/C and water problems but was charged the full eight days per my reservation. 7-Their solution during the rental was for me to make a six hour round trip drive (plus unpacking and repacking the RV) to their nearest location to exchange vehicles. 8-It has been over six weeks since I emailed my complaints yet there has been no human response from Cruise America---just an automated e-mail acknowledgment of the receipt of my e-mailed complaint and a promise to respond in seven to 30 days. I must admit that Harold, the manager of the location, was very sympathetic and tried to help but was limited by company policy. I guess the lesson here is that if you want a poorly maintained vehicle from a company that doesn't seem to care about making a customer happy Cruise America should be your first choice. read more

Was easy to rent. Our rv was in good condition no problems with it and we took it far. Our family enjoyed our vacation and would rent from them again. Minus one star because the guy upon pickup was not wearing a mask. read more

The staff is very sweet, but he equipment is a little run down. This is our third rental from 3 different places. It was fine. No issues. It's a rental. read more

One star too many This was by far the worst rental experience in my lifetime. And that is saying a lot considering I have ran five other motor homes, a dozen rental cars, heavy trucks to move things and numerous pieces of equipment for my business. The unit we received upon arrival had 96,000 miles on it and showed every bit of it. The freezer smelled like fish, the refrigerator had not been turned on we had to wait six hours in hopes of it getting cold, there was a huge amount of sand under the mattress so when he made the bed it was all over the floor, the outside of the unit was filthy, under the couch was also filthy inside, the moldings inside were broken, The main door would not lock I had to close it with a bungee cord, the door to the fuse box was taped shut in a half-hearted matter I had to retake that, The air conditioning vent facing the bedroom was broken I had to jerry-rigged it to keep it open so we could get some cool air back there, the water hose connection late badly I had to buy a new hose, if the unit was not perfectly level it leaked precipitous amounts of water that I had to catch in a bucket during the day and turn off that night, there was reminding me to check the oil every time I fueled up, none of the doors inside stayed open because the hinges were worn out I had to hold them open while I dug around for my stuff inside, because the hinges were played out on the doors they rattled extra bad when you're driving, The roof vents didn't wedge shot well so they rattle as well when you were on the road, the water pump worked when it wanted to about just over half the time, when the water pump was working it made a ticking noise in the master bedroom someone disconnected from city water we could not flush the toilet and sleep in the bedroom. There were other irritations but I will leave it at this your company was poorly represented by this outlet and we would never again rent from Cruise America after this experience read more

This location and cruise america gets zero stars. The vehicle had 140k plus miles on it, the water heater worked for 1 minute, then if you shut it off for a minute the turned it back on it worked for another minute, the shower didn't drain, the sewage always read 3/4 full, there was dog urine on the table seat cushion and black hair everywhere. Absolutely disgusting. Customer Service is the worst as well. Once you return the vehicle there is no number to call to express your concerns all complaints have to be submitted online. Additionally when I followed up with the Fillmore location they told me I was wasting their time and that no other customer had experienced the same issues with this specific RV and that I was basically making it up. And that the heater issue was user error. We had numerous seasoned RV owners and campers with us that actually tried to get the heater to work as well to no avail . I would of A rather have Paid nothing and just camped and use the public facilities or B paid much more and received vehicle that actually worked and was in suitable condition. Could not have been a worse experience. A couple with us that rented from Cruise America but picked up at the Burbank location said that El Monte RV had much nicer vehicles all in working condition. read more
