Both friendly cats but aren't always fond of dogs. The employees are very nice but the owner comes off as a little grumpy. Lovely neighborhood pet store with the best people working there! Every staff member at Crown Hill Pet Supply is knowledgeable and so helpful when it comes to buying everything we needed for our little pupper. Not to mention our little pupper gives Crown Hill supply 2 paws up, and loves comes in to say hi to all his human friends. They have everything from rain coats, to treats, bandanas, raw food, kibble, and our most recently purchased furminator. Their return policy is great on all items except clothing, and they even loaned us a furminator to see if we liked it prior to purchasing our own. My first experience was great. I really felt like this place had a personal touch and that "Mom and Pop" vibe. It made me want to support them and no longer purchase from a chain. However on the second attempt it was less than ideal. I called a week in advance to place my second special order for raw pet food that will last my dogs a month. I asked that if there were any issues to please let me know. As I would need to order elsewhere to make sure my dogs had food to eat. Unfortunately, I was never contacted and I called the store around 3pm on the day the food was supposed to be delivered. After waiting on hold for 10 minutes, I was informed that my order didn't arrive and that they would try again in a week. Which now leaves my two dogs without food because they cannot simply switch to kibble and raw food will need to be ordered in advance. (Like I was attempting to do here) As it turns out, when you place a special order it does not guarantee that they will in fact receive those items. It is simply a hope that the item(s) you requested will be on the truck on that day - and if not, you're out of luck. I told the employee in a calm, but slightly frustrated tone, that this isn't exactly ideal and I would be buying elsewhere due to the lack of transparency. Shortly after that phone call ended I received a follow up call from the owner, who continued to tell me the same story the employee did - none of this was their fault. They would never have known until today. Special orders aren't actually special.. as in they don't ensure the product you attempt to plan for is actually in stock. They just wait and see. After it was confirmed that nobody wanted to take ownership of the error, I stated that I will sadly be taking my business elsewhere - then he hung up on me. I've been going there ever since I moved to Seattle 3 1/2 yrs ago and I have nothing to complain about this place. They sell good food/treats for a reasonable price, they have nice selection of herbal/holistic remedies, and basically pretty much whatever you need for your dogs and cats (they also have some critter food/treats). This is not a fancy pet boutique (although they do have some dog jackets, etc), this is a place that you can rely on when you need something quality for your animal family members. The owner and her employee were really helpful when I brought my foster dog who had a surgery and needed something to keep her from licking the incision. They gave my foster dog treats and made her feel comfortable and let us stay as long as we needed until I knew which one to get. You can tell they care about animals. They also have cats for adoption there, which isn't so known to too many people. If you are looking for a cat, stop by there. They may not have too many like shelters do, but definitely worth checking it out. read more

As a small business owner, I am always trying to give my clients the best service that I can, but unfortunately I don't always receive it. In terms of pet food, they carry pretty good stuff, and none of the crap you find at the mega stores. In terms of treats, they also carry an interesting collection. In terms of toys, beds, etc, they do have some. Eventually, it's limited by their business size and square footage. But what they have they try to be good, and are willing to get things for you. In terms of prices, yeah, maybe it's a bit higher than the warehouses, but you are also getting better stuff. In my comparison of what they sell with other stores around that also sell the exact same things, the price is very competitive. I think what they charge is very fair. The best part is their staff. Super friendly, and very knowledgeable. They have pets of their own that they love. They care about your pets. And they care about you as the customer. I like going in there and just talk to them and ask them about things. They are willing to share what they know, as well as learn from you. They will also work with you, or even on your behalf against manufacturers. So, if you care about your pets, want to give them good things, and want to work with a business that treats you and your pets right, go here. read more

I went in here after getting a puppy to get supplies. The owner herself came up to me to help. I said that i was looking for a muzzle because my puppy kept eating rocks (?). She told me that she doesn't believe in selling muzzles because it is not the dogs fault, its a sign of a bad dog owner (!) , I JUST got the dog! Later a found that she does sell muzzles. I also inquired about getting a collar. She says that she only sells the break away collars because they are the only safe way to go. Not true again, I saw the buckle kind there for sale too. I tried to ask her some questions on getting other items, but was interupted constantly. She wasn't LISTENING to the customer, & repeatly told me that her father was a horse vetenarian. So what if he was, SHE is not, and he was a HORSE vet. I bought some puppy food that she recommended as "high quality". My Vet & online reviews said that the food was over marketed, over priced & would eventually lead to obesity in my dog over time :(. Oh yea, did I mention that the dog food was outed dated by 2 months after inspection of the bag!!!!! My opinion is that they don't true care about peoples animals as they do about making $$ I tell everyone to stay away! read more

Chris knows everyone of quality in the business! This is more than a pet store, it's a community staple. I have been shopping here for years, my dogs Love this place. Love with a capital L the owner sometimes more so than me which is disturbing but let's go with it. Need a bag of dog food and can't get there today, just call the store and the staff will put a bag aside for you? Need a foot long trachea? They will call you when they are in (provided you ask the too). And perk to add this is a UPS drop point so not only can you take your dogs to one of their stores you can have your packages sent there. They are good about returns and more than fair with customers, and when they caught my dogs stealing their products out of the bins they didn't call the police. read more

This is a great store for dogs (and cats) like me! They have the biggest variety of quality raw foods around. The people are nice and know lots of things about making pets healthy, and they give treats too. They know their stuff there! And none of their foods have any by-products, wheat, chemicals or other junk. Oh yeah, and they have a lot of great toys and snacks! They also have kitties for adoption, who need forever homes. I felt my previous review is not as excited as I am about this place. Like I said in that review, I work pretty close by and I had a friend from high school who worked here during the summers. The store itself is pretty itsy, but they pack a lot of goods in one area. And what do I mean by goods? I mean dog and cat food (dry and wet of course), treats, dental related things, kitty towers, water bowls, fancy water bowls, crates, beds, litter, and an entire wall of toys. Of course they are a bit limited compared to a Petco or something of the sort, but for their size they are able to fit a lot in. Whats not to like? Dogs are allowed in, but they must be leashed since they have two residential cats who are really adorable, and extremely big :) The overall quality is good, I don't like to feed my cats corn-based products (and now, if I could only do the same for myself more often...). The price is a bit more expensive, but they sometimes have monthly offers in their e-mailed newsletter, mini sales/clearance, manufacturer's rebate rewards, and if you buy a case of wet food, they give you 5% off each can. Afraid to commit? They have samples of dry food behind the counter. As for wet food, my cats once decided they hated a particular type of the package I bought. Frustrated, I went back and talked to one of the employees (or an owner) and he said if I brought them back, I could switch them out for a different type! I didn't take him up on his offer since I only had a few cans left, but it was nice to know I had options. read more

Crown Hill Pet Supply saved the day for me today when I unexpectedly ran out of food for my 2 hungry black labs. Here I was, Sunday evening at 6:30, the day before Memorial Day. I reach for the dog food in the cupboard and we have about 1/2 cup left. No WAY are we going to make it 'til Tuesday. I hop in my car praying that I can find a bag of Canidae before the city shuts down for the holiday. I called Crown Hill Pet from the road, and there is an answer. For a moment, I think I'm in the clear! I ask how late they are open on Sundays. The answer; They closed at 6 pm -the woman on the phone is headed out the front door. Hope fades. I say "so there is no way I can swing by and pick up a bag of food..?" She had just closed the till, so the answer was no. BUT - the awesome woman who works there (maybe the owner?) asked me what kind of dogs I had, how much they weighed, and graciously offered to leave some Canidae samples by the back door. I LOVE YOU, CROWN HILL PET!! She was just leaving as I arrived, and I got the bag full of samples. She had loaded me up with 5 sample bags of Canidae, 2 California Natural, and 2 Good Life. We've been buying dog food and treats here for over a decade, but they lost us as customers today. Our regular variety was out last time we needed food, so we got another variety, same brand. Our dog developed leaky gut with all the attendant symptoms and problems, which points directly to the change in food. We brought the mostly-full bag back to the store, and explained our dog's sickness and likely cause. Perhaps it was the change in variety, perhaps the brand changed the formula. The man at the counter listened, gave excuses, and never offered a refund, exchange or even a bag of treats. We went to this store because it's local and we wanted to support them. But today we were told very clearly that the store doesn't care. read more

Very friendly and helpful staff. I have I cats with special needs that share food. A diabetic and a cat with inflammatory bowel disease, so not an easy order to find food that both can, and will, eat. If I tried one can of a new brand and they wouldn't eat it, I could always bring the rest in to exchange or return. They had suggestions and even looked up carb counts for me! They have competitive prices for the same brands you find at pets best and mudbay, and an easy location for the NW side. The staff at this store is very experienced and knowledgeable. They greeted us as soon as we walked in and were very helpful and patient answering all of our questions. One product I mentioned wasn't something they normally carry but they were quick to say they could order it for me. I really appreciated the good customer service. They also have some pricey treats on sale as they start to near their expiration date (still 6mos away and treats never last that long in our house!) so I was able to stock up. I adore this store and Chris, the owner. He is super helpful with everything for my dog. I've bought food, tons of treats, supplements, a harness, the best rain-coat my dog has ever had, suggestions on vets, acupuncture Dr.who I used for over a year, etc., etc. Great products and so kind. I've had my dog for 16 years and he is at the end, it is difficult, to say the least, and I cook all his food now though he's actually ready to move on from that and wouldn't eat canned, and is going through that picky, change thing. Tonight I went in to Crown Hill Pet Supply and Chris directed me to this freeze dried, and this dehydrated food that my pup ate voraciously. What we are looking at here is a store made for your pet and mine, with lots of wonderful surprise products of superior quality.
