Tried to get some large boulders that they have on posted on their website. Called 4 times to find out if the boulders were available. Nobody every once called me back when they said each time they would. I was told they could not get an answer from their manager if the boulders were available. I was told the owner comes in whenever he wants and sometimes not even days/week at a time so he couldn't verify with the owner. Then I was told i could get pics of the boulders And that they were available. No pics ever came of the boulders and then they basically just gave up on trying to get me the boulders. they told me to go to a different company. Why post on your website that you have a certain boulder if you can't get them or are not even willing to try. Awful customer service!!!! do not go there. read more

All right so I do admit I Always thought this place was for professionals only since it's so big, but turns out no restrictions whatsoever. Joe was great and the customer service was excellent. I got some really beautiful dolomite at a great deal. I have to do my landscaping in rocks because if it's green I guarantee I will kill it. Patio furniture: one rectangle table and 2 circular end tables with metal frames and glass tops. They were ready for the junk yard until I went of to Crown Hill! I restored the gloss black paint; replaced the "deco" print under the end tables; sealed it, and shot it with exterior gloss black paint; added the stones with lacquer - BOOM! Very impressive! If I were ever to quit retirement I would apply for a job at Crown Hill. I can't remember dealing with a more positive crew. How often do you see EVERYONE smiling on the Job? And to a man, they know their stuff. The young man in the yard directed us to a palate that had been opened, saving us from purchasing too much product (flagstone). Saved us money, and considerable labor. Gus helped me calculate the necessary materials, as I am mathematically challenged. He also coordinated delivery, which required both a flat bed and dump truck. The dump truck arrived first thing in the morning---no delays. The flat bed followed, and again I was impressed with how pleasant the crew was. I was particularly impressed with Fred, the fork lift operator who placed the load PERFECTLY. The man is an artist. Not sure about these negative reviews? Seems perhaps a few people - not very familiar with landscape construction, have been frustrated , and this is reflecting negatively on Crown Hill- I assure you it's not the staff. This place offers a wide selection at fair prices....BUT during my first order of gravel for a backyard project I specifically requested that the driver dump the gravel towards the rear of my driveway as close to the back as possible. I spoke to them at least four times stating this and even suggested that the driver call me directly if they had any questions. What happens? The driver dumped a pile of rocks in the front of my driveway which is the opposite of what I asked for, creates extra work and makes my driveway unusable for several days. Maybe a 5th call would have worked? Oh well, can't win em' all. read more

Would recommend this place as your landscape supplier. I'm doing a large backyard remodel with pavers, retaining walls, and turf. I'm purchasing myself so this is my first time with many of these materials. Gus was very helpful, found us in the lot and helped us out as we navigated the various products. This can be an intimidating process for a DIYer. He showed us through their large selection of samples, and helped us select exactly which products to purchase. Just horrible experience this guys are extremely rude staring with the office management the guy rude as hell treating me to put a lin on my property if I dont pay , the driver good person and funny but lack of experience and control of his equipment, he throw materials all over my driveway like 3 time costing me 120 extra overtime because of him . This place made me excited to start on my paving project. There was so much material to look at and it was great to see the various examples of paving and retaining walls. These guys are awesome and prices are great!! I live up a steep narrow driveway with electrical lines all over the place, so a neighbor told me to tell them to bring a small truck bc the larger one may get hung up on the power lines (she suggested them in the first place).... I guess there was some miscommunication and they accidentally brought the big truck, but the driver (I may be spelling incorrectly, but I think his name was Wyndell) was epic and got that big ole truck right up our hill without hitting any lines. The guys I spoke to in the office and the driver were both super cool and accommodating, so I really appreciated that. It was super easy to schedule and the prices are fair. I was also impressed at the ability of the driver to get such a large amount of wood chips into this tiny tarped off area in our driveway... it was like magic!! Would definitely recommend! read more

First step was to pick out and price the ground covering material. They have a vast array of samples on a side yard that you can view without having to walk the yard. The gentleman in the store helped me with pricing. Went home to measure. Called to place an order and set up delivery. GUS was absolutely amazing at helping me figure out what I needed for my project in my yard. I measured the yard and he did all the work. From helping me figure out how much material I need to proper delivery times and dates. I had no idea what I was doing just knew what measurements, material I wanted and when I needed delivery. I am sad to write this review since I've done business with this company for over 7 years and had no issues. This time was different. I bought ready mix and rented one of their dump trailers, just as I did a couple of years back. This time I was charged a 50.00 cleaning fee. The guy that checked in and inspected the trailer said nothing. The charge was only noticed when we got the receipt in the office. I returned that trailer in the same condition it was given to me. I scraped every crevice of that thing and sprayed it down. I even scraped off some of the old concrete that was there before I got it, just to be sure they didn't charge me a cleaning fee. I tried to work it out with them to no avail. If you insist on using them be sure and take before and after pictures of the inside of the trailer and ask the guy inspecting it if it passed. I couldn't tell you about how competitive their pricing is because I never checked around. To me the relationship is as important as the price and they just blew our relationship. read more

We have lived in Vallejo for more that 44 years. We bought our house new and needed lots of landscaping material. We very lucky to find Crown Hill early on and have supported them over the years. Today I needed four smaller boulders to complete a project. Unfortunately, I arrived about five minutes after closing but the young man let me go inside to pick up the rock. My husband loaded them in the trunk and we proceed to the entry and I had wallet in hand to pay. My husband popped the truck and the young fellow that let me in, another gentleman and a man who identified himself as Tony looked in the truck. Tony said, you can have them! What????? In my excitement and forgetting social distancing, I hugged him!! It has been years since I got anything free and I could not believe it. First of all, they let me in and to get the rock free made my day. I was walking on a cloud. Unbelievable and much appreciated. My husband bought more than 100 paving bricks one morning (after already purchasing 500+ of the same brick.) We were short 18 bricks so I stopped by on my way home. The gentleman didn't realize that we just spent $180 on bricks earlier and tried to charge me $175 on these 18 bricks. I cannot say if it was my gender bit I've seen other women have trouble here as well. My husband had to go in and ended up paying the normal price of $30 for the bricks. read more
