This was our second time here. The first time was to select the proper type of wood for our needs. Tony helped us with selection of wood for our project. Also we brought a sample of the size that we needed. Tony told us the amount of sheets of plywood needed and that we could pick up our cut wood the next day. I received a call from Tony stating that my order was ready for pickup. I arrived and was instructed to pull up to the shed where a gentleman helped load my order into my SUV and I was on my way. The price was reasonable and it's great to have a lumber yard in our neighborhood. The staff is friendly and helpful with any questions. Thanks for everything Dolans Lumber. read more

I am extremely disappointed with the after-sale service from Dolan's. We spent over $80,000 on Andersen windows and doors through Dolan's. One of the main reasons we chose to purchase through a local company rather than buying directly was that we expected to have a local representative who would be there for us after the sale. We could have purchased directly through Andersen with substantially better promotional pricing, including a buy-one-get-the-second-40%-off offer, as well as financing incentives. Instead, we chose Dolan's because we believed the additional cost would be worthwhile for the personal service and follow-through we expected from a local business. Unfortunately, now that we are experiencing problems with some of the windows, I have emailed our representative twice asking for assistance and have received no response at all. That is extremely frustrating after spending more than $80,000. I understand that issues can happen with a large window project. What I find unacceptable is not receiving a response when a customer is asking for help after making such a substantial purchase. I sincerely hope Dolan's will see this review and contact me so that we can get the outstanding window issues addressed. I chose Dolan's specifically because I wanted local service and support after the sale. At this point, I have not received that. read more

I worked with Eddie and Tony at Dolan in Pinole to purchase exterior siding, composite decking, and railings. Eddie and Tony were great to work with. They helped me understand the pros and cons of redwood, James Hardie, and radiata pine. I ultimately purchased redwood siding and Eddie helped me place an order for custom-milled wood that perfectly matches my original siding from 1950. The new siding looks fantastic and blends perfectly with my old siding. Eddie and Tony were also flexible and went out of their way to help me. I changed my mind at the last minute about the color of my Fiberon composite decking and they allowed me to change my order with no problem. They also made sure I got all the proper hardware from Fiberon, which was tricky. Overall, Dolan Lumber was invaluable for my whole house remodel. They communicated with me patiently and respectfully. You can tell that everyone at Dolan loves the place! read more

We wanted a beautiful new front door for our first home and I'm so glad we went to Dolan. Jeremy and others were extremely helpful, thorough, and accommodating. Communication was also fantastic. If you're looking for quality craftsmanship to add value and a personal touch to your home, there is no other company I recommend. Excited to work with them again on the next project. read more

It's not every day you encounter someone who says, "I enjoy being helpful in any way I can." Jeremy Wilson is that person. He is truly exceptional, and went above and beyond to help me by providing outstanding customer service. He possesses integrity, excellent communication skills, and is extremely personable, kind, skilled, and professional. I so appreciate the time he spent helping me with my purchase. Dolan's is a store you can trust. I cannot recommend them and Jeremy Wilson highly enough. read more

Great, friendly service . We ordered a front door and security door. Everything came in perfectly.

Tony (and the whole crew) at Dolans Lumber in Pinole are outstanding: knowledgable, helpful, respectful, patient - go out of their way to make sure you get what you need. we ordered a custom size exterior door and Tony was just invaluable in making sure we got it right. and it was very reasonably priced too -- take your business to them -- not the big box orange store. you won't regret it! read more

Jeremy has been an incredible contact at Dolan's as I purchased the last five windows for my remodel. He was very helpful in the ordering processing, ensuring that I was ordering the correct Marvin windows. He responded to my calls and emails during the waiting period for the windows to arrive. I am really pleased that I went to Jeremy at Dolan for this final material purchase for my home. Thank you, Jeremy :) read more

Thank you Natalie Dolan for excepting our donation request for Pinole Valley High School! I wanted to write a review because the team today at Dolan lumbers in Pinole (Saturday 1/20/24 12:00pm) were so awesome. Thank you Andy, for getting this set up for us! Thank you Arturo, Elio, Jorden for somehow fitting large plywood in a mini van! Everyone was so friendly and awesome. read more

Don't go to this Dolan's - the worst customer service ever! They don't know their products, and then when what you have ordered isn't right, they don't back it up with any offer to remediate. Go to Truitt's read more

I ordered a patio door this year that took a long time to arrive due to some supply chain issues. As expected there were some delays and honestly the communication from the door supplier was lacking. The team at Dolan's was very communicative and really went the extra mile to make sure everything was taken care of. Overall I would highly recommend Dolan's for all of your window and door needs! read more

Great service from day one to the delivery. Took care of us right away and showed us the product before purchasing. This place has a variety of product from nails, trim, tools, and etc. What blew me away was the gentlemen who delivered my wood saw i was stressed out holding a bandage and baby yogurt in my hands for my daughter said "I see that you have your hands full I will take care of everything just point where you want it". He placed the lumber nicely stacked by my cameras on the side of my house and that to me made my day. Thank you to the staff and please folks support local businesses ! read more

Helpful, courteous, and knowledgeable staff compared to some box stores. I can't believe there's only a handful of reviews of this store. I lived down the street from them for 20 years and my dad used to always go there for all his hardware and lumber needs. Since moving a city away we had two encounters lately with Dolan's in Pinole the first was to replace a sliding door with French doors. Service was excellent but ended up with a different style with another company. Oh and my 2yr old son was gifted a book of stickers while we were speaking with the staff. How cool is that? The second was a phone call to inquire on 12 ft posts to install a 20x20 wind sail. They had 6x6x12 in stock and they were able to deliver the next morning right on time. Tony even helped me carry it to my backyard! He's a good guy! Thnks again! read more

I recently needed a new front door for a house I am renovating, and got frustrated with the various choices in the big home center stores. I had questions but I couldn't find anyone available to help me. I decided to try Dolan's in Pinole and am so glad I did. I got lots of helpful advice and my questions answered. Jeremy Wilson was the person who helped me with that first door and was very knowledgeable and kept me informed on my order. It went so well that I came back again when I needed an odd sized door for the kitchen. Jeremy came to the rescue again and found me the perfect door with a fast delivery in just a couple of days. I will just keep going to Dolan's because the selection is good and the customer service is excellent. It's nice to have people who know their products so well to help with the selections. read more

I wish I could write a good review of this place but I didn't have a good experience. I had tried to get a specific door from Home Depot but the contractor they sent to measure said it wouldn't fit. He recommended I try Dolan's and had nothing but high praise for them. He told me to ask for Robert, which I did. I explained what kind of door I wanted. After a few minutes of discussion, he said he might be able to get something like that specially made. He questioned the contractor's measurements and told me to go home and measure the door, the contractor had only provided the frame measurements, and to call him back. His attitude was a bit dismissive, maybe he didn't think I was a serious customer, but I was prepared to spend at least $1000 for the door. I called him back within 30 minutes. He said he would call me back in a day or two with a quote. I had a feeling that was a lie. I was correct, I never heard from him again. I decided not to pursue doing business with them as the feeling I got during both encounters was he really couldn't be bothered. Oh, and I asked about the free estimates and measuring mentioned on the web site and he said they only do those sometimes. read more

Highly recommend Dolan's for all doors windows needs plus more! We needed a door replacement quickly due to a flooding issue and best decision to come here. Andy was extremely helpful, knowledgeable and kind. He was patient in providing expert guidance on possible solutions and was able to arrange for a new door match for us in just a few days! Outstanding customer service throughout the entire process, hands-on, and great quality products. We'd definitely come back in the future and recommend to all our family, friends and neighbors. These folks are great. Yup, prices are often more than you pay at Home Depot -but Dolans knows their stuff. They (gasp) make recommendations, help find the hard-to-find item, help the DYI folks do it right --AND have good quality stuff. The folks who work there are funny, quirky and helpful. We bought our right-over-the-border in unincorporated county house 10 years ago and Dolans has been a lifesaver. read more

Some good, some not so good. I'm familiar with many local building suppliers, home improvement centers, hardware stores, speciality showrooms, etc. This Dolan's is hardly anything special to write home about, but there's nothing severely wrong either. It's just another small store in a small slow community. Recently I bought a large window here. It took over an hour for the guy to place the order over the counter. Prices are similar to other places that can order windows and doors. They just charge less for local delivery ($35 for the 5.3 mile, 12 minute distance, which is hopefully not a one-time low ball quote). When my window arrived after two and a half weeks, however, it was actually left outdoors on their open truck overnight for at least one night, maybe two. It was all wet! In fact, they didn't follow through in telling me as soon as it arrived that it was ready for delivery. I had to keep asking. Communication was extremely cryptic in both email and over the phone with the guy -- always just one or two word responses. This was the most unnerving part. It was a vinyl window though, so I figured maybe no damage. I only hope water didn't seep into the gaps in the frame and sashes. Delivery was otherwise prompt, and the item was exactly as specified, so it was okay. The real nice thing was the helpful delivery driver. He was willing and able to go out of his way, so I tipped him $10. He deserved it. This was the best part of the whole purchase. Any larger store would've had drivers too busy to care, and also charge too much for the delivery of just one window. So there's some plus, some minus. At other times, I've found good lumber at competitive prices here. But too often they just don't carry what I need. Clerks have always been friendly. read more

I bought a board , cut to size. Instead of asking, the clerk assumed I wanted smooth, not rough. How hard is it to ask?

My family has been using Dolan Lumber's products and services for decades. I wanted to replace my exterior doors. Dolan's has great selection in their showroom. Their staff are super friendly and helpful. I worked with Jeremy Wilson, and he is TRULY AMAZING! He was so patient and knowledgeable. From start to finish, it took me about 6 weeks to navigate the surprisingly complex world of doors and make a decision. Jeremy was with me all the way, even with changes and my evolving criteria. To start, he sent me links to at least 5 different websites to give me a good sense of the different kinds of doors that I could choose from. The myriad of choices was exciting, but also quite daunting, so I appreciated how he listened to me as I articulated what I wanted and how he provided his expert knowledge about what products might work. Without Jeremy, I don't think I would have been able to narrow down my choices. The selection process would have been impossible without his expert help! Jeremy helped me to select a door to perfectly suit my needs and my home. He also provided a list of potential contractors, one of which I decided to work with on the install. I highly recommend Dolan's in Pinole, and specifically, highest praise and recommendations to Jeremy as your guide to selecting the perfect door! read more

If you have a project and don't check these guys out you're a fool. They charge less to deliver than H.D., have long sizes of lumber the box stores don't carry and better quality. This time they have the 20 footers I need again, saving me money in the long run. read more

I wished I knew of this place sooner. I really liked the family feel and was happy to learn it was still family owned. Young guy here helped me out and he was cool , but the older guy who I was helped by a second time thought he was Ron Swanson or something, being really condescending and really not making me want to patronize these guys again, but if you don't care when people are rude to you when you're going out of your way to support a local business, go for it. Oh Hey!!! It is a pleasure to be able to write this review! We LOVE the people who all work at Dolan's Lumber in the San Pablo, CA location. For nearly 2 years, we had some pretty large and small home building and construction projects going on and Dolan's staff all jumped right in to help make sure all our requests were addressed. Nearly everything had to be delivered and each time, within the time frame they indicated and every experience in this area was rather fun and added that extra bit of "greatness" to my day. We even had a large delivery where a fork lift driver and equipment had to deliver 5 full pallets of concrete back into the interior area of our 1 acre property... this all went off nicely and with ease. It's like the crew at Dolan's could all be part of our family and we could invite them over for Thanksgiving Dinner...not that we will do that but hey, they are all so friendly and really helpful. We'll be ordering and visiting the store long into the future and they deserve our 5-STAR Rating! And my hubby just reminded me as I read this review to him... When he went to make a large payment for a purchase I had called in over the phone, my hubby forgot his pin number to his bank card. The customer service guy, "R..." didn't get impatient or bent out of shape.... he patiently waited for my "guy" to call the bank to help get things squared away so the payment could be processed without any glitches. Oh... and the guys that help load the car... they all are exceptionally friendly... Like I say, our Thanksgiving Turkey would need to be probably 4 of them because, we'd invite the entire group and their families over... that will be more Turkeys... so we'll just stick to writing this review for now! read more

Excellent customer service and great advice! Searching big box (so-called discount) stores for items in my home has been a nightmare! Although, my home is less than 25 years old absolutely nothing that's the standard off the shelf at a Home Depot, OSH or Lowe's ever fits. Dolan's is a throw back to when your local family owned business was your first and last stop. Might I add the price was also, significantly lower than the quote from HD and I didn't have to wait two weeks for delivery! Thanks again for the great customer service.
