This has been our favorite donut shop for years due mainly to the incredible, unusually flat but very crispy apple fritters. Never doughy. Now the fritters are still flattish but giant-sized. Still tasty but a little more dough-y and, I suspect, even fattier. These monsters have got to take longer to fry, soaking up more grease all the while. Please bring back the super crispy flat single-serving apple fritters!! We won't be back so much without them. Yes, the loss of them is worth demoting 2 stars to us. read more

1/29/22 - New owners are amazing and the donuts and kolaches are super! My family was not a fan prior, but now Crown donut is our go-to!!

Good things come from Target. Even random ass stoner cashiers who speak of donuts and splendid sugar highs. I was led to Crown Donuts by said dude from Target. Although he did mention the Anderson Mill Lane, I decided to give this a shot because it's way closer...and the night before I had dreamt of donuts. Hence I must make it so. This place used to be..."Sunshine donuts?" I think..So long ago I can't remember..all I remember is going in and it smelled of bleach. To my delight I opened the door to smell fried fatty dough. SCORE! In the donut world my top priority is the Cake Donut. To hell with the others. Secondly I'm a sucker for donut HOLES. It's a girl thing. I like to eat petit shit, so I can eat a shit ton of it and not know it. Fess up Ladies..amiright? My biggest gripe with the local lakeway shop DonutHole is that they only serve donut holes on Sat/sun. WTF is up with that? Huge let down. I mean smart that it only forces me to gorge on the weekend, but I don't want that option removed from my equation. ANYWAYS this review is about Crown Donut so let's get back to it. Sadly this location doesn't seem to have a huge variety of options, so you'll have to go and see if its up your alley in terms of flavor creations. Also, it was a Thursday morning. Perhaps the flavors are plentiful on the weekends. SO that glorious Cake Donut. They have them, and hell yes they're GREAT. We had the blueberry holes and the glazed non cake holes (because I keep an open mind) Both were delicious. The blueberry cake holes tasted like a blueberry muffin laced with a light layer of glaze. The plain glaze donut hole was a sugary cloud from heaven that dissolved before I could feel any guilt. We also got a cake donut with chocolate glaze sprinkled with peanuts. SO GOOOOD. The edges were slightly crispy, dense, moist, with a nice chew to the center. Chocolate was just enough and the peanuts were roasted. Need I say more? Ok fine. A dozen cake holes, 1 reg. donut for $3 and some change. I'm all in. read more

Was taking my wife to work one morning and we decided to stop and get her and her co-workers some donuts. This being our first time there we decided to get a dozen mix box. We pulled up to the drive thru where they have a large menu posted with all of their products, which you can see even if you are the second car behind the order window. My only knock on the business is i felt the drive thru took a little too long. We were only 1 car back but we waited almost 10min until we got to the order window. Not terrible but if you're un a hurry that may slow you down. The mix box donuts looked good. My favorite donut is a sour cream cake donut. I asked the lady if they make those and she said yes but they call it the old fashioned. I ordered an extra one to snack on and man did that hit the spot! I meant to take a pic of the old fashion donut but that would have prevented me from shoveling it in my mouth. All in all had a really good experience with good donuts. I'll definitely be back for more of the old fashion donuts read more

A coworker ordered donuts from here yesterday and they were amazing, so I decided to try their breakfast tacos and a kolache today. Fantastic! I can only describe it as breakfast comfort food. Nothing crazy or "edgy" with flavorings or seasonings, just a darn good breakfast made and packaged with care. The attention to detail on the packaging was a nice touch, and they even threw in a set of donut holes as a free surprise! Really added a nice treat to my otherwise dreary morning. Can't wait to order again. read more

They have a new owner as of the end of January 2022. The donuts are soooo soft and bounce back even after you bite them. They aren't to thick or to thin and they rise really tall. They are so delicious!! Their croissant sandwiches are amazing too. We highly recommend them! And they are now open everyday from 5-1! The previous owner was closed to many days. We are very happy with the new changes!! read more

Did you think a donut was a donut? I did. It turns out there is a secret to making donuts other than dough, sugar and roundness. Crown Donut has the secret! The donuts are fresh and light and melt in your mouth. After having a donut here, donuts at other places just seem heavy, greasy and wrong. Crown Donut is GREAT. The people there are always so friendly as well. read more

Filled donut...with a jalapeño cheese dog? Um skeptical at first. Hot dog in the middle of a donut/roll. It looks like a "pig in a blanket" where I'm from. Which is also confusing. Well get over it because it's Surprisingly delicious. This is one of the few places/coffee shops open at 6 am in Lakeway. Filled donut and coffee for $3. Wish they had WiFi. read more

This is the best donut shop ever! Our family enjoyed freshly prepared hot kolaches, blueberry cake donuts, glazed, and double chocolate. The flavors and textures are perfect. Can't wait to go back! read more

Best donuts ever! Super fluffy. Great variety and staff was very friendly and helpful.

So I have to start this review by thanking the stoner kid at Target. Thank you for being high as a kite, and randomly mentioning donuts to my wife. Without you, we never would have known that Crown Donut has amazing donuts!* *Most, if not all of the selections at Crown at cake donuts, which are extremely rare at most donut places, but a constant source of joy here! The wife and I had stayed away from this spot for a while, as it used to be a different donut place, which was an unfathomable hole of disappointment. I'm happy to say that Crown Donut is much, much better and also extremely close to my house! Time to get fat! read more

The donuts are really good--my issue is that the person waiting on me could hardly speak English or understand English. She "messed up" my order big time and acted like it was my fault for not understanding her very broken English. Out of frustration I ended paying more than the posted price just to move on....... In my opinion they need to hire someone to wait on Texans that can speak English.....they are in Texas! read more

When I justify the calories, crown is one of my go tos!! The do it's are light and fluffy and they are never out of my favorites! - Glazed!! They literally melt in your mouth. Also, there's a drive through in Lakeway! read more

This is absolutely the BEST place to go in Lakeway for donuts. The other places here in Lakeway, even the big chain donut shop (which I won't mention), are FAR less superior to these donuts. Their donuts do not melt in your mouth like a Crown donut! These are more similar to a warm Krispy Kreme doughnut and just dissolve in your mouth. The prices are good and kolaches are very good as well. The lady that works the window in the morning is always happy, enthusiastic and kind. Be sure to tip - the staff and donuts are definitely worth it! read more

Crown donut has the best donuts I have ever tasted! Better than Krispy Kreme! They have such nice employees and fast service. Best donut experience ever. read more

Fantastic donuts and kolaches. I've only had the yeast baked goods but I'm sure any cake donuts they have are great too. Highly recommend!!!

Donuts were just ok, some over done in oil. I will not go back. Plus there is some 28 cent service fee charge. Strange. I give them a grade of c-, i ordered a bred koloch-and received one that had cheese again. read more

Mornings are the time for kolaches and the best donuts in town, piping hot, fresh and flavored to perfection! The donuts here are just simply put, the best! I also really enjoy the ham and cheese croissant sandwiches. Coffee is really good too.

There are many donut shops in the short 2 or 3 mile drive on 620 that crosses Lakeway, but I have to agree with the overall Yelp review, these are the best. Can't explain why, they are simply great. Just writing this review made me crave donuts. I'll be back in 10. read more

went here for the frist time the morning of Christmas Eve, had asked for 6 kolaches the man heard wrong and only gave 3, thank God. Worst kolache of my life, burnt dry old and absolutely disgusting. read more

We we a huge fan of Crown donuts, but lately something is seriously off with their donuts. At first I thought they just changed their fritter recipe, but after tasting an old fashioned, which was meh, we realize it might be a bigger issue. Whatever it is, we are laying off the donuts for a bit and will check back in a few months. read more

Hands down the best donut holes I've ever had! Delicious cake donuts too! Yum, what a find! And...a drive through----? Nice!

Man this place is awesome. Great coffee. Donuts are good and I love their breakfast sandwiches.

They have everything here freshly made! I tried other local donut shops in the area and always found crown to be my absolute favorite. Their donuts are soft and not to doughy with the most amazing glaze. I also get to grab a breakfast taco made with REAL bacon and REAL eggs. I can't even stress how much of a big deal that is! The people that run the shop is superb as well, she is so sweet to my son and helpful when I can't pick between donuts. I highly recommend you stop in to grab a tasty treat every morning here. read more

The blueberry donuts and donut holes are the best! We're also fans of the apple fritter, cinnamon old fashioned, large sausage and cheese kolaches, and breakfast tacos. It's a 40 minute drive each way for me and totally worth it. read more

sat at the window for abt 15 minutes all the workers ignored me. i could see them through the window and tried waiting but i ended up just leaving. read more

Tried a breakfast taco recently, I can add those to the reasons for going to Crown now.

Best donuts in the Lakeway area, period. We drive past 2 other places to go to Crown. Best tasting, beat value, and the best experience.

Their FRESH glazed donut is second only to Round Rock Donuts! Light & delicious! If they say they are "out" wait for them to make more. The Eclair with white cream filling is heaven. read more

We saw the place on Yelp we are from houston so we decided to drive around and try them. We stopped and they let us try their blueberry donut holes. If you like blueberry donuts you will be in heaven! They melt in your mouth. I had a bacon, cheese, egg, potato taco and the bacon was crispy so extra points for that. My husband had a ham and cheese croissant sandwich and he loved it. I asked if they were open tomorrow so that we can get some blueberry donut holes home and they just gave me half a dozen on the house since we loved them so much. Awesome place! I will definitely be back! read more

Hands down best donuts in the area! I have been known to eat 4 or 5 at a time. I can't help myself!

These donuts are the best in Lakeway! Soft and airy dough with the perfect amount of glaze and other flavored icings. Their maple icing is my favorite! The cake donuts and kolaches never disappoint, as well. read more

This place is a MUST VISIT if you like Donuts or Kolaches... if you like both, then this could prove to be your quest for the Holy Grail. I recommend trying the Jalapeño Kolache (jumbo, of course).... sweet bread... tasty sausage... and just enough kick to let you know that it's supposed to be spicy. As for the donuts... haven't found one that isn't great... although the donut holes are melt-in-your-mouth, pure heaven! read more

I love these doughnuts!! I have been through half a dozen doughnut shops in the past three years looking for a good, soft, fresh, moist doughnut and at Crown I have finally found it!! The shop is clean and simple and done in a bright cheery yellow, the woman behind the counter is always friendly and professional, but mostly the doughnuts are always SO MOIST AND FRESH!! My favorites are the cinnamon sugar cake and the chocolate iced cake. I also like the jalapeno kolaches! They have a drive up window but I never use it because I prefer the whole cheery doughnut shop experience. read more

I love me some donuts! Though this place definitely does not have the best location, they are the best donut shoppe in Lakeway. I recently stumbled across this place and have been back the last three Saturdays. The prices are fair and the donuts are very good. Hopefully, my Lakeway neighbors will keep this new place in business. As long as I can fit through the door, I will make this my Saturday morning ritual. read more
