I ordered pretty quickly and my drink/food came out soon after that. The Tacodeli was just ~okay~, same with the Nitro cold brew. The vibes/music were good and the bathrooms were clean. This was my first time going to Black Rock Coffee Bar. I wanted to spend a chill morning/afternoon here and get some work done. It was very overcrowded, so I just placed an ordered to go. I got a Matcha latte and Blueberry muffin. The matcha was great, just too much ice. The muffin was not fresh, but I'd come back to try more of the drink menu. If you're hungry they sell tacos from Taco Deli. It would be nice if they partnered with a local business for food. Both people in front of me received the wrong order which was a bit concerning. Instead of calling out names they should definitely give out numbers or just pay more attention to detail as it was definitely the fault of the baristas. read more

We love BlackRock! Not too many coffee spots in Lakeway/BeeCave are worth targeting as "favorites," so the drive down SW Pkwy is well worth it! Extra nod to barista Gabrielle! For a while it seemed this cool spot lost its *happy quotient* as we would describe the usual friendly and personable staff, which was always a highlight whether being greeted at the drive thru or inside at counter. The hires didn't seem engaged or purposeful workers. The attitudes took a noticeable turn, which was such a shame. Now it seems theres been a great shift back to the pleasantries! Kudos to mgmt for finding/hiring the right fit... Gabrielle knows her stuff and has an ear/eye for amazing customer service. Staff like her are infectious~~they make the place!! It's fun to continue to return frequently when people once again reflect some joy in service//amazing work ethic! PS. Black Rock Coffee is a gem! Cool vibe, super friendly service, and an awesome menu -- they even serve breakfast tacos from Tacodeli. I was staying at a nearby hotel with my family and we tried a little bit of everything: a frozen mocha, sugar-free s'mores latte, mango raspberry shaken tea, and two salted caramel shakes. Everyone raved about their drinks, but I have to say, my s'mores latte was next level. The toasted marshmallow on top was perfection, and the fact that they offered a sugar-free version totally blew me away. I loved it so much, I came back the next morning for another one -- and grabbed a breakfast taco while I was at it. Also amazing. If they had a Black Rock in Hawaii where I live, I'd be broke. You know, I was wrong about Black Rock -- this is an amazing chain, the best in Austin by a mile, and one of the best you're likely to encounter besides, this place is truly a gem. I initially had complaints about not being able to see certain nutritional information, and not being able to contact anyone directly, but they have won me over. The staff here have ALWAYS been very polite, friendly, and helpful. They have taken time when there have been issues, and have gone out of their way to ensure I leave with a smile -- the type of service that most places don't put on anymore. And you know what? Not only did they follow up on my earlier poor review multiple times (always via Yelp, never in person, they were very respectful), but I've noticed new stickers showing some of the nutritional information I was asking after at the location I visit now. This Black Rock location is conveniently located in South Austin off of Southwest parkway. Expect there to usually be a longer line in the drive-thru during peak coffee-consuming hours. But, the staff here are on top of it & typically get through the drive-thru lines fairly quickly, so be patient with & nice to the staff - they're mostly younger kids/adults, but super sweet & willing to help! I've been a drive-thru customer of this Black Rocks for two years now, as it's a few minutes away from home for me. They provide consistently quick & kind service. The food & drinks are consistently high quality as well. For their coffee, i've tried the Iced Mexican Mocha, the cold brew, and the Iced Caramel Blondie. I recommend them all, but my favorite is the iced caramel blondie. For food, i've only tried their Taco Deli sourced breakfast tacos, & they always satisfy & hit the bfast taco craving. Their prices are right in line with Starbucks', but i prefer to come here instead bc it's closer, and supporting not as much of or as bad of a big corporatey chain like 'bux Anddddd according to my personal pupcup connoisseur, Black Rock also makes the finest, most robust pupcup in allllll of the land! The Hutto location is across from my house and I drive thru often. Fairly good matcha. Pretty good coffee and fantastic cookies (from Easy Tiger in Austin) I joined the rewards program and it sucks. The app never works right and I can never get the rewards. That said, I will simply delete the app. This past weekend, I went inside for the 1st (and last) time. The music is loud but that's ok for me. The seating is not comfortable at all. The 2 upholstered sofas were so filthy that I could not bring myself to sit there. Will I return? I will probably drive thru occasionally, but really-- only because there is no place close. read more

I have been a fan of Black Rock for a few years and it seems like recently the Black Rock on Southwest Parkway has gone down SIGNIFICANTLY. It seems like 1 out of 7 days your coffee will be made correctly, and if you try to tell the staff the drink was made wrong they will begin to give you rude attitude and make side comments to other employees right in front of you. The original staff that I first interacted with were much more diligent and made all of the orders correctly EVERYTIME. read more

We got some nitro brew with cream and they were lackluster. The cream was separated from the coffee and it was quite hard to get it to mix. Not flavorful. If anything, quite bitter. Starbucks, unfortunately, makes them way better. On a good note, they serve Tacodeli! read more

We have been coming to this location for years. It used to be consistent and great coffee, we would drive out of our way to get. However, recently the quality has gone way down. Drinks are not consistent, often tasting burnt. Most recently my medium hot caramel blondie was only filled 2/3 of the way full with a thick foam layer and 1/4 of the cup not filled at all. It felt very light when i was handed the cup, but didn't open it until i got back to work. New ownership? Unsure, but quality is definitely lacking. Not sure we will continue to come here. read more
