We wont be back. It's not a very clean place. A layer of grey dust over most areas. If they are willing to let customers see that, I don't even want to think about the areas we cant see. This is a great spot for quick, High quality, donuts. They also offer a variety of other breakfast options and drinks. I absolutely love the blueberry Donuts, and kolaches!! I am generally able to get in and out quickly, even in the mornings before work. That said, there can be a line just before 8:00 a.m. The inside is clean and sanitary. BAD ATTITUDE, POOR HYGIENE!!! So I went this morning to pick up an order for Doordash. From the start, I could tell the woman working the counter didn't want to be there and hated her job. The order had a random assortment of donuts and she was walking around to fill the order. I wanted to check the order to make sure all donuts were there. I found one to be missing and she started getting irritated about having to fulfill the entire order, blaming the ordering system instead of her thoroughness. Furthermore, unlike all the other donuts where she used tongs, she proceeded to irritatingly grab the last donut with her bare dirty hands!!! There are plenty of other donut shops around. Let me start out by saying I don't even like donuts usually. This place temporarily changed my mind! The kolaches are to DIE for. We got the sausage and cheese, spinach and artichoke, and ham and cheese. They don't use hot dogs in their sausage and cheese like most places, they use actual sausage and it's soooo yummy. My boyfriend didn't like the spinach ones but I thought they were tasty. If you like the dip, you'll like them! The ham and cheese were the best though. My boyfriend got a raspberry filled donut and a glazed twist. He loves donuts and was super impressed with these! We are going to bring the kids back to pick out one of the fun flavors...they had Cookie Monster donuts, Elmo donuts, fruity pebble covered donuts, Oreo donuts, and cocoa puff donuts! read more

I have been to their Steiner Ranch location but was not sure where the original location was until today when I happened to pass by on the way to one of my accounts in Lakeway. I had planned on lunching at Two Hot Mammas a couple doors down but after I had an hour to think about it I decided to try some more of their Kolaches. Great decision because their savory Kolaches are amazing little sweet yeasty dough balls surrounding savory yumminess! I decided on a Ham & Cheese and Spinach & Artichoke Kolache and both were delicious. Nice cheap light lunch that I will be back for. I grew up with Czech Grandparents so trust me that I know my Kolaches and the Donut Hole's are awesome savory sweet yeast rolls! Really wanted to like this place, and I'm hoping they were just late getting in this morning because that would explain why they had very few fresh donuts. I had to take donuts from yesterday or "wait five minutes". They had no glazed donuts ready, but I was able to get a couple of the unfilled glazed that were ready. Things didn't get any better when we tried them at home. All were stale and dry, even the glazed ones, and the blueberry cake was burnt to the point that it was inedible. The staff seemed disorganized and not overly concerned about the lack of freshly made products. I understand why people are inclined to have positive feelings toward "local" places, but let's dispense with the notion that the locally-owned, locally-run donut joint is somehow an endangered species in need of special protection. With perhaps the exception of hair salons, the local (etc.) donut shop is the ubiquitous entrepreneurial venture. With that said, this one is...just ok. The donuts themselves are not really a step above the nationwide chains - there is a Dunkin a couple miles up the road - and in some cases the donuts here are worse. Stick to the standards, especially glazed, and stay away from the cake donuts, which tend to run fairly dry. Kolaches are a relative bright spot, and if you happen to be in Central Texas from out of town, it's a bit of a regional specialty and the Donut Hole's are a decent representation - so worth a try. But for me, the really unforgivable characteristic of the Donut Hole is the available selection vs. the advertised selection. I have never, in fact, been able to walk into this establishment and successfully order a filled donut. I feel rather like John Cleese in the Cheese Shop sketch, waiting around for the Lake Travis High School sophomore running the front to tell me that he's been "deliberately wasting [my] time." It doesn't matter what hour I arrive or what day - this place simply doesn't make enough donuts. Either slim down the menu of what you're making or keep it in stock. It's pretty simple, and keeping donut inventory is something small-town donut shops in Texas have been doing successfully for a very, very long time. So if you must have a donut and you're in the area, you're not going to go very wrong here, but be prepared for, "Oh...we'll probably have some in a few minutes I guess, if you want to wait?" read more

The Donut Hole is a local business that has the most uniquely decorated donuts I've come across. My kids have been patronizing this place since we moved to Lakeway and they have their favorites, including the "Zebra," the "Morning After," and the "Pretty in Pink." I enjoy the more adult options of kolaches and egg/sausage sandwiches, and hey, I have to sneak a few donut holes or bites of donuts as well. When you go on a busy Saturday or Sunday AM, there will be a line, and your favorites may well be out of the display case by the time you get up to the front, but they will typically make them to order on the spot.
