Yep. This is a legit coffee house. Lots of seating. Bright. Friendly and knowledge staff that knows coffee. It's a super upgrade to Starbucks. It's not much more costly either. Their food is made by local vendors. The cashier explained to me that their vendor would f breakfast burritos recently had their food tested by the USDA. Not sure what they tested for but it sounded reassuring. I ordered a breakfast burrito and strawberry toaster (pop tart). Breakfast burrito was tasty and NOT greasy! This morning I tried the Summer Moon drive-thru for the first time, and it was a smooth, hassle-free experience just like Starbucks. When you get a good cup of coffee it makes it clear how mid or worse large chain coffee tastes. I was so overwhelmed with the breadth of choices but love lavender anything so I ordered a 20oz lavender oatmilk latte and yes it was amazing! Funny the night before I mentioned to a friend that anything cranberry orange is a yes and what did I see a scone. It was generously frosted and had whole cranberries. It was perfectly crumbly. Welcoming, warm, calm ambiance with well spread detailed menu is easy to go through. The ever helpful friendly host explained that they made their own "moon" and brought me a sample to taste since it was my first time. My brain was like where have you been! I could just drink the moon by itself. But decided to order Blue Moon and Mocha moon. Loved both of them and will definitely go back to try the other moons. This place has definitely stood out and glad it has so many cafes across the city. They welcome dogs and give them complimentary pup cups too. read more

I've loved summer moon ever since I moved to the Austin area over 5 years ago. However, the past year has been challenging as I'm breastfeeding and can't have dairy, and have had gallbladder issues which requires a low fat diet. I've been stuck in a rut of not having any food or drinks that bring me joy. Additionally, my other daughter can't have dairy. She and I went on a mom-daughter date to Pikopye's town in Lakeway and I decided to splurge and get her an oat milk hot chocolate and maybe get myself something. I was truly blown away by the way the barista went above and beyond - she offered hot the hot chocolate to be kid's temperature (which was a concern I was thinking about asking for but she was so proactive I didn't have to), and then she was able to let me know the fat content of a 12oz blue moon latte without hesitation or acting like I was putting her out. To my delight, I could have an oat milk moon milk and within my allotted fat amount. When I thanked her, she said, "of course, we want you to be able to enjoy something that works best for your needs!" (or something along those lines, but better.) Days later, I'm still impressed by the top notch service and the way she made me feel. I wish I caught her name. What's the difference between Austin and Steiner Ranch? You go to a coffee house in Austin on a Saturday, You can't get a seat. Everyone is on their laptop working on something. You go to Summer Moon Coffee at Steiner Ranch on a Saturday afternoon, The joint is deserted. The two high school kids working there have nothing to do. Too bad - since the coffee is good, the snacks look great and it is a beautiful room. I am guessing everyone at Steiner Ranch is home watching the games. read more

This was my first time at Summer Moon, I like their moon(milk) concept. Staff was friendly and when he realize I am there for the first time, he gave me moon sample to try as it is sweet and some flavor and can change the taste of drink. Got a recommendation from a friend to check out Summer Moon in Austin. I like their wood fired coffee! Their coffee drinks can be customized with different amounts of their house made "moon milk" (sweet cream). I ordered the "half-moon" latte (basically a latte with 1/2 moon milk, 1/4 espresso, 1/4 skim milk). If you like sweet coffee, this drink is definitely a treat! It is definitely sweet. There are non-sweet drinks too. The staff were friendly and nice! The cafe was clean, has a lot of windows and natural light. Summer Moon is by far my favorite coffee shop to visit. The coffee is very tasty, the baristas are super friendly and the management works extra hard to ensure all customers are taken care of. They also listen to suggestions and have reinvested in the space by adding 4 large covered outdoor tables and new indoor tables. If you go early in the morning it can be busy (like every coffee shop) but they are constantly hustling to keep the lines moving. So frustrating. I really like your coffee and your pastries and I want Summer Moon to stay in Steiner. However, your staff is so inconsistent. When I go to Starbucks, I have complete certainty that my order will be correct. When I ask for cream, they graciously provide enough to change the color of the brew. My order is the correct size and temperature. It's correct every time. Summer Moon employees guard Moon Milk with their very lives. It's as if its part of their life force so it's reluctantly given to Americano and drip drinkers like myself. I'm now certain that employees themselves pay for every ounce given that isn't part of a Half Moon. That's if I've even been heard right and I don't get cream instead. Recent experience the young fellow opted to resolve my "I asked for Moon Milk not cream" complaint by simply adding moon milk to the already full cup of coffee. I requested a remake. The barista begrudgingly remade the coffee as if it was a personal offense. Drip with steamed Moon Milk. Very complicated. So now my excitement from having SM a few blocks away from my house is dampened by the service of staff members that seem more interested in flirting with each other than making a good cup of Joe. So often I'll drive all the way to Starbucks as it'll be a better cup of coffee with staff that know what they are doing. High turnover, inconsistent orders and sometimes no to-go bags (was given a pastry on a paper plate) is the usual at this SM location! If I don't go inside and watch your staff make the coffee, it'll be wrong when it's a drive through order. read more

Not a good summer moon, which is a place I love and buy merch from all the time! Workers here always seem sour and off. I thought it was just an off day, but I have visited multiple times without a good vibe. No greeting, or welcome about 50% of the time and always feeling rushed/half listened to. And the coffee never really seems the same as the ones in town. Today was the worst by far, I asked for a blue moon latte blended, was told this is not possible, I told them multiple other locations have been able to do so just fyi, I just got a long awkward silence back, I just told them nvm and proceeded to order something else. I get the population out here can be difficult, I worked at a coffee shop off of bee caves, I get it, but we never let it discourage us from having a good time and being positive. Y'all are peoples first encounter of the day sometimes and people can really be going through it and summer moon is usually my place to turn that around, but sadly just not at this location. I would give one star but because I always have a great experience at other locations I feel bad even giving a low three. read more
