I was excited to try the cherry chai latte served hot. The drink had a really unique flavor profile with Masala Chai and cherry flavor: slightly tart, subtly sweet, and perfectly balanced with the chai. You can tell they put thought into their specialty drinks. The vibe at Epoch is laid-back, a little eclectic, and a great place to hang out or get some work done. Service was quick and friendly, even during a busy moment. If you're looking to try something different from the standard coffee menu, the cherry chai latte is definitely worth it. I'll be back to explore more of their drinks.

The taco was the standard green cart you get at similar quick service places that sits in a hot box, so nothing special there, but it's convenient if you want to grab both coffee and food in one stop. They also have pastries and a few other food options. Coffee offerings are straightforward and familiar, with a few specials on offer. Not a place I would go out of my way for, for good if you're in the hood.

The matcha latte was perfect - fragrant matcha flavor but not too sweet with a smooth texture. The apple turnover was flaky like most turnovers but not eye-squinting sweet. Open later than most coffee shops, especially in this deserted part of town. Varied drink menu, both caffeinated and not caffeinated, including refreshers. Nice creative variety of desserts (including a Biscoff cake!) and a kolaches case. At one point the brought some hot baked dessert (looked like a whole coffee cake) out the oven and it smelled like heaven. The bad: Nothing vegan or healthy, not even pre-made cold sandwiches or packaged salads. If you are a little peckish for a healthy snack, this is not the place. The coffees: They have all the regular espresso drinks, and also Turkish coffee and of course Yemeni, their specialty. I had heard great things about Yemeni coffee and was exciting to try it. My first drink, a traditional coffee drink called Jubani ($6) contained coffee but was watery like a tea. It had also ginger and cinnamon. I was not expecting it to be like a tea. I immediately told the cashier I didn't like the drink and would like just an Americano, double shot espresso. I was charged $9 for a 12 oz cup. No cream or sugar, no added flavorings. If I were in charge I wouldn't have charged for this second drink, since it comes at almost zero cost to them and would show good faith and ensure repeat business. Disappointingly, the Americano was also watery and sort of "lemony", but I still drank half while sitting with my friend. I'll say that my friend had some sort of an iced latte that she enjoyed. I might try a second visit and order a Turkish coffee, but I will make sure to have had a full meal before.
