Good food, nice band, great service! Even though we sat outside, we could still hear the band. Not many family friendly restaurants have a band play on week nights now a days. We enjoyed the food. The sausage and cheese platter was good, but nothing to brag about. My son and I each had the shrimp trio. The rice was a little mushy and my son didn't like the after taste it had. This is my 3rd time here and I brought a friend to eat for the first time. It was such a breath of fresh air to get good service. The atmosphere was good and casual and they have outdoor seating. This was my husband and my first time here. First and foremost it's off of hwy 51 and if you're not careful you will pass it. When we first arrive we didn't have to wait long. The food in my opinion is authentic cajun. We loved the quality and presentation. The service was excellent. It was a very laid back atmosphere and we had a great time. I had the Catfish filet dinner. Three big corn meal breaded filets, hush puppies and two sides( crawfish mash potatoes, a plentiful side salad. I believe it was only $15.95. Its in the middle of the pandemic and my Uncle passes. So, after a very different n difficult wake I drive my parents to this place. We live in Memphis and was told this was the place in Hernando for good catfish. My dad and I both have severe arthritis. I walk with a cane and my dad uses his electric wheelchair, so we sent mom in to get the info. My mother was visibly upset when she returned to the car. 1st of all, no employee spoke or attempted to recognize her as a customer. 2nd another customer gave mom a menu. 3rd, she came back to the car with the menu and we decided to order after these unfriendly encounters. So, she goes back in. Waits for about 15mins and a waitress/server finally decides to ask if she needed to place an order. As my mom tells her our orders, the lady says, oh we dont have any catfish. My bf and I have lived in the area for a little over a year. We've been wanting to try this place for the longest time and we finally did! We were looking forward to some "Louisiana style food" since we are both originally from Louisiana. As an appetizer we order the boudin balls. You can tell they were frozen before. They weren't balls, they were more like tube shaped. They weren't the best and they weren't absolutely horrible, they were just ok. I wouldn't order them again. So, here comes our food. The jambalaya was spicy and I mean SPICY!!! We both were chugging our water! I had only one bite. The etouffee was gross!!! There was no crawfish nor any chicken, it was straight sauce! Not good at all. The waitress, sat at the bar majority of the time EATING a burger!!! When she brought out our appetizers we asked for plates. Before going to get our plates, she made sure she took a bite of her burger first! When she came to ask if everything was ok and we told her we weren't impressed with our food she stood there, right in front of us and yelled toward the owner saying "you need to come talk to these people!" I tell you we have drove by this place several times and we finally despised to stop. What a disappointment. First of all the service was terrible. The second time, my family sat there for 30 minutes without having any wait staff come to our table...yet they would go to people that came in after us. We decided to leave. Went here on a Sunday night and it was packed. We lucked up and walked in as a big table was leaving, so we didn't even have to wait. We ordered steak, crawfish, and gator bites. Everything was great! The steak was fantastic. Cooked exactly as I asked. The crawfish and gator was great as well. The only fault with the food that I had was probably that the macaroni wasn't that hot. It was just ok tasting too but I only got it for my daughter so it wasn't that big of deal for me. Now the service had pros and cons. Pro: we got our food very quickly. The server even brought our crawfish extra fast because she said they were about to run out and she wanted to make sure we had ours. And sure enough 15 minutes later I hear a waiter say that they have just run out of crawfish. We got all of our food, even my steak, pretty quickly. Con: At the end of our meal, we didnt see our server too much, but they were pretty busy. My only issue was waiting 15 plus minutes for the check. She said she would get the check, but seemed to disappear and then I spotted her bringing a few plates to some other tables before we finally got it a good bit of time later. This is a small gem in Hernando, MS! We were doing a site visit at The Gin at Nesbit on Halloween and wanted to grab a bite to eat before heading back to Memphis. The weather was absolutely gorgeous so we were able to sit outside. They were preparing for a trunk or treat for the community kids, which was very sweet! Everything on the menu looked delicious. We started with the crawfish dip and chips. They were homemade and very yummy! I ordered the shrimp po-boy and Chris had the catfish & shrimp basket. The fish was fried hard just like he likes it. The onion rings were on point too. We could tell they were fresh and battered. We were too full to consider dessert, although the sound of the strawberry cake made both our mouths water. We are done with this place. It is not even close to worth the high price.) I'll start by saying that I really like the food. Consistency isn't perfect, but the taste and quality are very good. The problem is the poor service, complete disorganization and horrible setup. The restaurant is too small for the number of people they try to serve. The wait times are terrible. We have eaten here twice and I love the food. I had redfish the first time and was grilled (moist and yummy). The gator bites, house chips and fried pickles were table pleasers. My husband loves their red-beans and rice, it's not offered in a cup/small bowl as a side but we asked if he could choose a cup for one of his sides with his shrimp and grits and they did without hesitation! Love that! I had the fried catfish (picked spicy) my 2nd time there and the fillets are fried crisp and perfect. I asked for their remoulade as a dipping sauce for the fish and it was awesome! The food was absolutely amazing. We had the crawfish tails as an appetizer. They were okay but also my first time trying them. I think they were just small and hard to taste but i can't imagine how else to fry crawfish tails so this is not a hit at the restaurant. The catfish was amazing. It literally melted in your mouth. Every time we have driven by this place we have said that we should stop and we never had until today. It won't be the last time we stop! It was a Sunday at 11am so it wasn't busy at all. This place really needs to get their air conditioning problems worked out. Both times I've come here, their A/C was out. The first time was last year, and we decided to stay and eat, the food is average at best, and the service wasn't great. They were spraying the roof with water to try and cool it down inside because it was miserably hot. Then, about 2 weeks ago we called and made reservations for 9 people that afternoon. They accepted and told us our reservation could be fulfilled for 7:15pm. We get there and the A/C is out, our tables haven't been set up yet, and didn't get much communication from any of the staff. Why wouldn't they notify customers of the A/C outage before they take the reservation? We left and decided to eat elsewhere. read more

So incredibly good!!! Like - extremely extremely delicious! We went yesterday on a whim - I had never been but my husband has been a few times on duty (Sheriff's Department). Good Lord... so good. I had raw oysters as an appetizer (fresh and excellent!) and he had the crawfish dip with house-made chips (fantastic!!). I had the shrimp and grits (NO PORK - yay!!!!) and he had the fried catfish (best I've ever had anywhere) and the boiled shrimp (perfectly boiled and amazing flavor). The hush puppies are very very good (peppers and a little heat, fried perfectly) and I dipped them in the house-made ranch dressing (delicious!). The service was GREAT and we will be back often. My husband also says the po' boys are excellent, so I may order that next time, but I also need to try the crab legs so I guess I'll just have to go several more times and update! read more

Typical "North Mississippi" version of seafood. It's not bad for the area, but could not exist on the coast. It's not bad, just need to tweak a few thinks. The Oyster Po-boy is on a soft bun and not a hard one. As you know then the tomatoes will reduce the bread to a soggy mess before finishing. No mayo on the po-boy either, just a sauce of their creation. The oysters were very good. My biggest complaint of the evening was some blowhard in a Harley Davidson T-shirt at the bar dropping the "F bomb" into everything he had to say ( and he had a lot to say and said it loud) there were kids in the small dining area and the rest of us diners just kept looking at each other waiting for the staff to do something,... but they grinned and laughed along with him. We had fried and chargrilled oysters to start and, while both were good. the fried were our favorites. I had the shrimp and fish. My husband had the catfish.
