I love the bartenders at Crossroads, they're always so friendly and kind to me. As someone in their 20s, I haven't been to Crossroads until my older friends brought me here. To be honest I was pretty skeptical at the atmosphere and the general age group of the crowd, but what stood out to me was how comfortable of an environment it was. In busy bars and clubs like Bernie's, The Avenue, The Pioneer Bar, it's crowded with young people, and for someone like me with ADHD and sensitivity to too much noise/too many people it can get extremely overwhelming. Crossroads was a completely different vibe and I've fallen in love with it. What I love most is that there are way less men trying to talk to me! One of my favorite things about this place is the fried food. I am a chicken tender fiend and their chicken tender basket is awesome, and their curly fries rock. And don't get me started on their Potstickers. As a Korean I am a dumpling snob and can be pretty judgmental, but the dumplings were great and what really stole the show was... they served it with soy sauce and chili oil. The atmosphere of this place is pretty "white" and wow, I was truly not expecting that, I thought they were going to make me eat potstickers with ranch or something, but it was a pleasant and delicious surprise. Nice kinda dive bar in town. I'm always skeptical of the parking lot since it's next to the Carrs. They have a back parking lot and a back entrance. Friendly service. Good drinks. They have two pool tables and usually have complimentary hot dogs or chili. They have a small menu of frozen food food. They do allow you to bring in your own food or do a grub hub delivery which is a nice plus! read more

Let's get something out of the way, right away: yes, this isn't located in the best area. Yes, it's right across the street from the infamous "ghetto Carrs". However, I found this place to be pretty damn fun! Beer prices are very good, some of the best in Alaska. Bartender is friendly, seems like someone you'd like even if he was not slinging drinks for you. Seems like most of the crowd are regs. I wasn't, but they treated me like one anyway. In fact, a fellow Yelper recognized me, and paid for my next drink! If that weren't cool enough, when someone buys you a drink here, the bartender hands you a "free drink token"! How neat is that? Definitely worth a stop if you're in the area and you're thirsty. If you already live in the area, you probably come here anyway. read more

I came down here to catch a football game on Sunday a couple of weeks back based on recommendations from a couple of acquaintances. I asked if there was any other place worth going to for NFL Sunday instead of feeling burned out by going to the usual places week in and week out. Crossroads Lounge is located on Gambell St. and 15th Ave. next to Carrs and the infamous motel that houses the Black Angus Steak House. I was initially reluctant to come down here since I had never visited the place because of the area and the ugly history in years past around the motel next door when it used to be called the Samovar Inn. The parking lot was well-lighted and a decent size for the building with spaces available on both ends. However, my doubts were soon erased when I set foot in the place. The bar area is spacious with plenty of screens available for all the football games. The atmosphere was made all the more better with the friendly bartenders and employees. Sports memorabilia of various football teams adorn all of the walls around the bar. Being that my game was east coast which started around 9AM AK time, I decided to order the Steak and Eggs special that a friend mentioned which was only $15.00. My order didn't take that long to arrive and the steak was delicious cooked at a perfect medium with two eggs over-easy. A side of home fries as well as whole wheat toast with grape jelly and butter was the perfect complement for the eggs while watching the game. Free food like hot dogs and chili are also available later on in the day along with daily drink specials and an extended menu with items like pizza, mozzarella sticks, burgers, pot stickers, and chili fries. This is one of the best places to catch a game on TV with friends and the bar regulars who have been going here for years are some of the friendliest people I've spoken to. In spite of the surrounding area, don't let that deter you from coming here. Crossroads Lounge has everything going for them and remains a long-time favorite with the locals for a good reason. read more

I love this place (where friends meet!)! The bartenders are extremely friendly and quick with the alcoholic and non alcoholic refills, and they have games (my absolutely fav quality in a bar!). I mostly play pool but the darts are fun too and the regulars are friendly and will cheer you on or serve as worthy opponents. The food is also decent too - particular fan of both the fried shrimp and chicken fingers basket. Get the basket (not just appetizer portions!) because those curly fries are on point! They also do a shared pot of free food featuring a different thing each day of the week in addition to cross-dogs (hotdogs) that are always free. We had a large group gathering here once too -- reserved the entire downstairs which was glorious! Great service and wonderfully private space. All and all, this divey, neighborhood gem checks all my boxes and you haven't really been to Anchorage until you check it out! read more

Zero stars if I could Miranda the bartender, had a bit too much too drink it seems like and making 9 chocolate shots then pouring 22 of the cheapest shots was way too much for her to handle. She literally cussed at the people who ordered like, what the fuck do you want ? after we told her multiple times. She said she thought we were kidding. I said no. Located in ghetto part of Gambell this neighborhood bar is full of older Alaskans and town drunks. I like the easy going attitude and general laziness of the bartenders. Draft beers range from 4.50 to 5.25 along with the options of a full bar. This place has food for sale along with free eats such as hot dogs, chili, stew, etc... For a little neighborhood bar (in a, shall we say interesting neighborhood) this place rocks. The first time my husband and I decided to check it out, we were given a straight up tour. They have a Wii, wi-fi, pool and foozball...as well as free hotdogs and soup every night. Fridays? Free burgers. They also have a menu of fun bar type foods to order from if you're feeling peckish - and not overly priced ($4 and $5 fried snacks? Yes please.) The beer is cheap and the service is great. But true, it would be classified perhaps as a "dive." A friend of ours was disappointed in a lemon drop martini she ordered, but I can't fault the bar for that - it is obvious that foof and frills aren't their thing. Two things you need to know about me to decide if this review is for you: 1. I don't drink beer, only cocktails and wine and the occasional shot 2. I don't like to watch games at bars, so I don't consider that in my rating. Now, I've been to Crossroads a few times--some of my beer-drinking friends like to hit it after work. If I stick to shots, everything is fine. I tried ordering their lemondrop martini...once. Normally, I would have known better, but they had a cocktail menu, and it was listed as a one of their specialties, so I thought, what the hell. By far the worst lemondrop of my life. Tasted like lemon pledge mixed with draino. It became the table taster, with every new friend who came to join the group asking why my drink was in the middle. I would say, "it's terrible, the worst. Seriously." They would immediately try it and agree. Luckily, I listened to my gut and have never tried the food, which I have been told by others is standard greasy bar fare. I do also feel the smoking room seeps into the main room, which I'm not into. That being said, when I want shots, some pool (though it's hard to get access to the table), and some laid back time with friends at a dive bar, I would still consider going there from time to time. read more

It's a dive bar, but a *nice* dive bar. It's surprisingly clean and spacious upstairs. Every time I've been, the bartenders have been attentive and nice. It's a good place to go to people watch, have a beer, and watch some sports. Reasonable prices, good selection, generous pours on wines. This is probably my favorite bar in Anchorage. True it's in a dumpy part of town but I'm willing to risk the walk to drink here. It has a smoking deck which I love. It always has free food like hot dogs and a different kind of soup everyday. And since where my job puts me up all I get is 4 tv channels, Crossroads has all the sports channels so it's a great place to park an ass while you watch baseball or football all day. The service is good and the servers have always been friendly and when I got pushed into by someone who was getting ejected from the bar, my friends and I got free drinks. Near the, ahem, ghetto Carr's grocery store on Gambell, the Crossroads is still where friends go to meet. The drinks are poured strong, and the jukebox plays the hits (or whatever the hell you pay it to play). Although dated and in dire need of a damp dish cloth, the foos ball is free, which is a fair price. The pool is inexpensive and the darts are free, leaving you plenty of quarters to slowly and slurredly count out on the bar before sliding them over for one last shot to drown your sorrows--though, you might find in a place with such a surprising amount of smiling people, your cares and concerns might disappear faster than a free hotdog in front of a hungry heehaw. Fairview is a neighborhood on the grow and the Crossroads Lounge is the spot where a veritable who's who of FRV all stars can be found on any given day, 365 days a year. Free hot dogs "Cross Dogs" are available on every day that ends with a Y, as is a different soup, stew or chili. The clam chowder on Fridays is arguably the best in town and the only charge for it is for you leave your worries behind, settle into a cold beer or cocktail and find your favorite sporting match on one of the many TV's. On Sunday's during football season, you'll be able to find every game on...good stuff if you're a Browns or a Titans fan. The bartenders and cocktailers rock and you seldom have to wait long for service, even when they're slammed. There was karaoke night once a long time ago and it KILLED. They haven't done it since so ask about it on your next visit. I could easily give the Roads a sixth star if they had a local IPA or pale ale on draft (ditch that awful Alaskan Amber!) Great local bar. with free hot dogs! The neighborhood is definitely sketchy, but not dangerous. It's definitely worth the trek to enjoy a free chili dog, great clientele, and a very laid back atmosphere. i spent easter weekend in anchorage, friday night i caught a cab to the bar, spent a few hrs, drank, had a bite to eat, glad my cabbie told me about it! sat. i went for a couple hrs in the morning(10am), dottie the bartender is great, all the sports you might want watch is on, very comfortable place to hang! after the chelsea lately concert i walked up th hill, got a seat at the bar & had a few drinks. the place got slammed by other concert goers, great mix of people and ages, thumbs up! easter sunday i went back around noon, they had a nice(free)meal, good crowd! there is nothing not to like about this joint, i`ll always make it a point to stop by when i`m in town! read more
