Surprising location in the Nagog Plaza strip mall, and the interior of the restaurant features dark wood panels - makes for a very nice but casual restaurant vibe (looks better on the inside than the outside). Used to go here all the time until I moved out of the area. Came back the other day to see if it is still what I remember. The food was really good (nothing spectacular, but delicious for what it is), but they were SO slow. Took like 40 minuets to get our food. And the waitress never even gave us bread before our meal (everyone else had it). I was pretty disappointed. My wife and I just moved to Acton and were told to checkout this place. We were looking for a spot to name our local bar. The food here was great we both ordered meals and a cup of soup and it was all fantastic!! We would visit again for the food. The only downfall was they do not have much of a beer selection which is more of what we usually come for a couple beers and a little food. They carry Wachusett beers but thats about it.. The rest of draft beer is your usual Bud, Bud Light, Blue Moon, etc.. We were impressed with the beer selection Despite that we will be back for food but, sad to say this will not be our new local bar due to the beer selection. read more

I usually come here for a late dinner. I've tried various items from the menu. One of the items that sticks in my mind is the prime rib. They give a generous portion and a reasonable price. The au jus is delicious. Just thinking of it is making my mouth water. Sometimes, I come here when the dining room is about to close; but they were still very accommodating which deserves the 4th star! The bar is decent. I have to amend my review and have added two stars on the basis of my first experience with this place. A few months ago friends came to visit me and brought dinner. I had a steak and it was from Crossroads Cafe. It was beautifully done, the green beans steamed but still crisp and well flavored, and nice homemade mashed potatoes. One friend had a burger and it looked very good, a handmade patty with a nice crust and juicy on the inside. I am now bewildered by the change in quality from then to what I had a few days ago. Got a takeout burger and was very disappointed. Decidedly not a fresh burger. Probably frozen and machine formed, over ground and leaden texture. Flavorless. Supermarket freezer case fare. Bacon was limp, tomato and lettuce very tired looking. Perhaps the worst part was that the food tasted of cilantro even though there was no mention of cilantro on the menu description or visual evidence of the herb on the plate. The fries were good. Their other dishes may well be excellent, but if it's a burger you crave, pass on this place. So, I am trying to figure out what happened here. Recently, a fabulous Mexican place in the same complex closed. Did they raise rents there forcing places to close or cut corners? Management or staff changes? I'd suggest the owners be very careful with their following there. Customers can be difficult to woo back after a decline in quality. Maybe pare down the menu to save on costs? Good luck Crossroads, I would have rated you at four stars based on the steak dinner but the burger really brought things down. read more

I've always been a huge fan of Crossroads. Within the past six months to a year, each time I go I have had bad luck. Again for the third time I have had to complain about my meal which was the filet mignon and they were nice enough to take it off my bill. This used to be my favorite dish on the menu. We had the fried calamari and that was great. There's a lot of new competition in town I think that they need to hire a new chef. The manager knew I had a problem, I was so disappointed that he did not come and talk to me to see what could have been done better with my dinner. read more

The Yelp Bike Gang met up here for dinner after a great ride around the area - always nice to get out of the smog and be reminded what real beauty looks like. Anyway, the Crossroads Cafe's menu is full of all sorts of interesting stuff, and I found myself with a little bit of analysis paralysis over the menu: burger? steak? seafood? sammich? chicken? pasta? one of their 16 different dinner specials? I couldn't figure it out. Fortunately, they had my go - to menu item: the grilled reuben. It was a fantastic reuben (and I know from reubens!) just the right size, crisp, grilled with butter, just the right amount of sauerkraut - and the thousand island on the SIDE. Mega. I could have just the lightest touch of it so as not to spoil the great taste of the pastrami. It's a homey, local, brass-and-wood restaurant/pub with plenty of family-friendly fare on the menu, and a hap'nin bar in the front for cougar hunting. Came here for lunch. Very good French onion soup, with a nice layer of Swiss cheese, and perfectly-soggy and good-sized croutons. Salmon Caesar salad was fine but not great. The salmon was not super tasty and was rather dry considering it was in a salad. Atmosphere was quite nice - definitely had an upscale feel. Prices were pretty reasonable. read more

I've been going to crossroads since I was a kid. The food is delicious and the staff are friendly and very efficient! You can't go wrong with anything that you order, everything I have gotten off of the menu has been fantastic. Went to Crossroads last night and had a great experience. When we arrived, we were shocked at how busy it was. Since the wait was quoted to be 45 minutes, we scoped out the bar. After 15 minutes we were able to grab 2 seats at the bar. The bar staff were attentive and very nice. Glenn took care of us the majority of the time and was fantastic! Their fresh bread gets an A+ from this Italian. Their French onion soup gets an A+ from my husband and I. We both got burgers, mine was perfectly medium and delicious. My husbands (the Ruben burger) missed the mark a bit (he said while all the flavors were delicious, the combo did not quite work) but he was not dissuaded from wanting to return and try their Ruben sandwich. We look forward to returning to Crossroads soon! read more

I've been coming here since 1997, and I have yet to get a bad meal from this restaurant. This is a good place to get a hamburger or a prime rib. For the menu, I wish that they'd add fish and chips as a permanent menu item. There isn't much of a waiting area so to speak, unless you wait near the bar which gets crowded as well, so coming in on a Friday/Saturday night can be trying, with the cramped area and noise factor. The food makes the wait generally worth it. Yes, they did raise their prices (and reduce some portions) recently for the first time in the 18 years I've come here, but it's still a solid deal for the money. Try out their turkey dinner on Sundays, it rivals any home-made Thanksgiving dinner. The beer selection is OK....the Budweiser people won't object too much, but there isn't much variety there beyond Blue Moon or Wachusett. Once upon a time, they did carry a unique beer called Double Diamond Burton Ale which I wish they could bring back. read more

My family and I were visiting the area and stopped by this place for lunch. We ordered the BBQ prime rib, lobster roll, mac and cheese, and onion rings. They provided a homemade roll as an appetizer about 15 minutes after we ordered and our food came out about 15 minutes after that so all in all our food took about 30 minutes total to come out. I wouldn't recommend coming to this place if you're in a hurry. The lobster roll was ok, certainly not the best I've ever had. The BBQ prime rib was the worst BBQ rib I've ever had. The onion rings were a little too battery but the appetizer roll and the mac & cheese were great. The waitress was very friendly and recited the specials to us a couple minutes after we were seated. All in all, this place was alright. I wouldn't recommend it as the best place to eat but someplace good to stop by for a meal (if you have the time). The 24oz. Prime Rib bone in is the house specialty. I have dined at the best steak houses in the US and they do it perfectly here. The bartenders are very professional, accommodating and friendly. This place is always busy and truly is a local favorite. Having said that, they don't treat newcomers any differently than the stand by local crowd. We love Crossroads. We love the staff, the atmosphere and the food. It has a diverse menu, all good. The salmon burger is my favorite, it's not a burger, it's a chunk of fish. The steaks are great, burgers are great, pot pie - heavenly. Try the Ala Joseph, Seafood and pasta! All salads, from House to Wedge, fresh, delicious. We usually dine in the bar area and love the wait staff and talented bartenders. Large pour on wine and mixed drinks are generous. :) We love that as well. read more

This is the Cheers of Acton and my husband and I love coming here. The waitstaff is wonderful and there are some real standouts on the menu. This is down home cooking with something for everyone. Nothing pretentious or fancy, just good food. Turkey dinner on Sunday is the best! Love the generous serving of boneless chicken fingers with buffalo sauce, the Reuben, the Chicken Soup (served without the carbs upon request), and much more. Although I have lived about five minutes away from Crossroads for most of my life, I had not been to the restaurant until recently. Wanting to stay local for the night, we decided to give it a try, and we were not disappointed. The restaurant was packed early on a Friday night. Crossroads has a full bar and a lively atmosphere. We had to wait about forty minutes to get a table. We later learned that Crossroads offers call-ahead seating, which we will certainly utilize next time. The restaurant is very kid-friendly. They have a kids menu with a decent number of choices, and they have crayons for the kids, though we had to ask for them. We started with the pretzel sticks which were served with a delectable cheese sauce, and I have been craving the dish ever since. I ordered the prime rib (on special Friday and Saturday only) and my wife had a 6 oz filet on special which came with a wedge salad on the side. My 16oz, bone in prime rib came with a huge bowl of salad and two sides for under $30. All of the food was delicious, and the value was just right. The service is polite and attentive. If you are looking for a gourmet meal, Crossroads isn't the place for you. But if you live in the area, and you want a family restaurant with excellent comfort food, then it's a must try. read more

This was my second visit there. Both times the service was phenomenal!! We started with the meatball appetizer!! It was delicious!! I got the prime rib which was on special. Delicious, but undercooked. My mom got the steak sandwich. Very chewy and tough. Great cosmopolitan. That might of been the best priced item, as the prices for the steak and seafood dinners are extremely pricey. $30 for a sirloin steak. $30 for scallops. Filet was $32. I believe sides were extra too. For a pub in action, I just thought the prices were too high. I remembered from the first visit, but had a gift certificate so we went again. read more

I wanted to review Crossroads Cafe since we had lunch there today. I was pleasantly surprised by our experience! We arrived right at twelve when they opened so were seated quickly. The manager [discreetly] whisked away the cake we brought tucking it safely in the kitchen until dessert. Our server, Chelsea, was great! Attentive, very friendly, and accommodating to special diet requests. She made our visit reach 5 stars! Food service was timely and the quality of every item we ordered was excellent. I got the filet mignon which was perfectly cooked! I appreciated that the oil and vinegar cruets were clean and full. Last but not least, the bathrooms were extremely clean and I must admit that I judge a restaurant's kitchen cleanliness by the state of the restrooms so I felt good about that. I found it a bit disappointing unfortunately. The good: Fries were very good. Crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. Ordered a medium rare burger, and it came medium rare. Forgive the pun, but getting a burger exactly as ordered is a rarity. The OK: Buffalo wings were fair, although the sauces weren't great and the celery sticks seemed old and limp. The burger, while properly cooked, was decent but not great. A bit small and not that tasty. There are far better alternatives at this price point in other restaurants. The bad: Mussels appetizer was awful. Small portion of overcooked and flavorless mussels with what seemed like tuna sprinkled on them??? Why? The broth was also almost completely flavorless. Why is it that the hostesses, (yes, plural of host and hostess because there are always 2 or more) are always willing to ignore you and act as if you are somehow bothering them by coming in to eat at their establishment. The owner is much nicer then some of the hostesses, it boggles the mind. The front of the restaurant is the fist 'defense' - they should be alert and attentive with a pleasant demeanor. Just saying. This place has really gone downhill since they removed the potato skins from the menu a while back. Steaks are over cooked and the fruit is never good quality. I usually stop by for dinner or Sunday brunch thinking its still the same as it used to be.
