I'm surprised by all the hate for this restaurant. I tried it for the first time last week and I really enjoyed it. It's definitely not the most eye-pleasing place in the world, could possibly use a remodel but maybe I just like that. I was in on a Thursday around 5 and sat in the bar which was packed by about 5:30. JJ and Dave were on the bar and they were both great guys. JJ made me a killer Manhattan. But it was the food that really stood out. i got a 16 ounce sirloin with blue cheese crumbles on top with a loaded baked and steamed vegetables. The steak was a perfect medium rare and the potato and veg were really good too. I cleaned my entire plate. I'll admit that the bar could be a bit overwhelming for some. It's free and open with great banter (a bit colorful at times) from the staff. It's totally my style and everyone around was having a great time. It's just a fun atmosphere. I will 100% be back soon. Can't wait!

You really want to like this place. It's old school, with mature hosts, waiters and waitresses. It feels like every restaurant my parents took me to in the 1970s and I'm more than ok with that. Our waiter this time around was fine. No better. No worse. Just plain fine. Gave off sort of an indifferent vibe. As soon as we sat down we noticed our arms basically stuck to the table. Gross. A glance around the joint and it reminds you of something out of Goodfellas. Ceiling tiles that havent been cleaned since 1974. Tacky decor. Eh whatever. As long as the food is good I'm fine with it. Unfortunately the food was gross. Not a near miss, but gross. I paid $34 for the bone in prime rib which I ordered medium. It was raw. Not rare, raw. With zero flavor. Tougher than cowhide. Seriously couldn't even cut it. The mashed potatoes were not mashed enough and had all these chunks of potatoes. Flavorless too. The side of green beans and carrots had the equivalent of a tenth of one carrot. My wife had the crispy chicken salad. The chicken was over cooked and chewy. Overall a sub par experience.

Good food. Great ambiance. Love the swordfish. Also like to get the open face turkey on Sunday evenings. Staff are super friendly.

So glad they are still open. I have not been there in a while but hope to visit soon. Food not imaginative but overall a solid choice.

The best chili I have ever tasted! Also, an excellent Hamberger with great grill flavor. I will return often.

And we interacted with neighboring tables on both sides to recommend (when asked) the oysters, and when one received a drink with a big smoke bubble that created a magical flow of smoke when it burst. French inspired drinks and food were fantastic and interesting. The French 75 menu was so interesting-- choose your flavor and your bubbles. I tried two, the classic with rosé was so pretty, and the honey lavender with base level champagne was delicious. The raw oysters were to die for! Perfect little pop of acidity with other flavors delicately added and perfectly balanced. The oysters Rockefeller were also perfectly delicious. The foie gras is not something I would normally eat, but my boyfriend loves that stuff so we went with it. I enjoyed it more than he did. It was not a classic foie gras, it was smoother with a creamier texture and more buttery flavor. Eating it with the fig jam and "light as clouds" toast made it absolutely delicious! I enjoyed every minute and mouthful--would definitely seek this place out again even though I live an hour away! We enjoyed ourselves too much to take pictures!

I do hope so as the location…read moreis nice, the room has been redone nicely, and the food was good, but service was slow and spotty. I think they just don't have enough servers. We arrived just after our friends who advised they had already ordered their drinks. Our waitress arrived promptly and took our drink order and then vanished. No drinks for quite some time. A manager came over to ask if anybody had visited us, apologized for the delay, and returned with our drinks. I'm estimating it was a bit over 30 minutes or so before drinks arrived. Our waitress did return, apologized and took our food order. I wasn't so sure about ordering sushi, but glad we did. The maki we tried were very good, fresh and beautifully presented. A great start. We switched gears for our entree and went with a parpadelle bolognese. A nice generous portion that was as good as some of the Italian spots in the area. Our friends also enjoyed their dishes. Portions were generous and prices were reasonable. I would easily have given 4 stars, but the service needs improvement. You would need to plan to spend at least a couple of hours for a lunch. In our case it was not a big deal as we were enjoying time with friends, but I can understand the other negative reviews now. We do plan to return to work our way deeper into the menu, and hope they will have more staff to help with the front of the house.

This wasn't our first visit to this place; we had visited once before and sat on the patio (during…read morewinter, so it was sealed up like a cozy igloo). Knowing the drill, we were prepared to valet the car, which is definitely a downside since it slows down the whole getting-in-and-out process. We made our way to the host stand and were greeted warmly. We asked for seating for three (husband, wife, and child) and were led to a table along the outside of the bar. It was a great window seat but definitely on the louder side. Not an issue for us, but if you're bringing someone who's hard of hearing or just doesn't like noise, consider this a heads-up. Our waitress came over to take our drink order immediately, and we placed our food order shortly after. We started with the Brussels sprouts appetizer. I ordered the Poke Bowl, my husband went for the Mac & Cheese, and our son ordered the same from the kids' menu. Drinks took a while to arrive. When the appetizer came, I noticed my utensils were sticky and asked for a new set. This took wayyyyy longer than it should have. She literally went and gathered some drinks from the bar and delivered them before getting me the utensils. The appetizer was tasty but lacked the sriracha kick we expected from the description (though I honestly preferred them this way). Our meals arrived, and I noticed mine was very small but delicious. My husband's dish was missing the chicken and prosciutto and was really dry. Our son's dish had chicken on the side (a good idea) because he didn't like the pasta, calling it "dry and weird" (his words). My husband asked for a side of cheese and the missing chicken and prosciutto. He only got the chicken and cheese (at this point, we let the prosciutto go). We ordered a second round of drinks but should have ordered them as soon as the first round arrived because the meal was pretty much done by the time we got the second round. In the end, we skipped dessert and paid the check. The lackluster personality of our waitress didn't help things. We handed in the valet tag with payment (as instructed) and still waited over 10 minutes for our car by the time we got to the parking lot. Overall, this place has promise but still needs some work before it can capitalize on the summer traffic. If they can't figure it out, I fear it won't last like many of their predecessors. Fingers crossed for them because I do think they can be wonderful!
