That's when Victor Crossfit came in. I had been trying to find a small gym with a focus on group workout (think boot camp style) for a few months before I saw an ad to try Victor Crossfit for 3 weeks at a reduced price. I figured minimal investment of time and money, so if I didn't like it, I wouldn't be locked into a long membership. That was in March, and now entering October, I still go weekly. Lance, Chelsea, Megan, and, Caitlin have creative an environment where you want to go in and work hard. Everyone is super supportive of each other, and the workout, at any level, will push you. The coaches always have scaled versions of a workout so that people will get a great sweat on no matter if they've been coming for 10 years or 1 week. I was never a fan of weights or developing huge muscles but seeing myself improve over time and get stronger, I wanted to keep pushing myself to get to the next weight. You'll feel this way too! The coaches don't force you to use higher weights but they will challenge you to push harder when they see you're going to easy. It's encouraging! I can't recommend this place enough!

CrossFit can be intimidating and often the people doing CrossFit can be even more so. This is a box where you dont have to worry about that. People check their egos at the door here. Coaches are great. They push you but don't overdo it. I came in 6 months ago at 255 lbs, herniated discs in my back, and doctors telling me I'd never lift weights over my head again. I've had to check my own ego, go wicked slow, and just keep showing up. Often the weights I do are well below the prescribed workout but I've gotten stronger and better and proven the doctors wrong. It's all about just showing up and getting a great workout. I'd highly recommend just making the call, and changing your life for the better. All you have to do is show up. Funny thing is that after a few weeks you really start to crave going. It gets addictive!

Instead, HE decided that if he through in the morning classes (which I was not comfortable with working out in a group setting, yet) would be fine for the mornings, and kept encouraging me to come in after a 10 hour shift. I work in healthcare and that was an exhausting time of day for me, so I could not make it work. I tried my best to come on my off days, but that really limited my consistency. He would make mysoginistic comments about my work outs and "looking tired" when I was there. I tried to confront him and he dismissed me mentioning the am classes he offered (which I never utilized other than one time and it was uncomfortable for me). When I stopped going, he refused to return my calls. He owes me ~$800 for the last month that I could not make it because I felt I was wasting money doing half ass work outs at times that were not good for me. The point -- if your a child with a specific goal and/or someone who has a flexible schedule and does not mind going to classes -- great! If you are an important-looking dude, George may get a trainer at the times he promised you. If you're a young single female -- be prepared to be treated like a joke. Let me preface this with me laying out for them EXACTLY what my flaws were and what I needed to be consistent. I told them I struggled after work and was looking for a morning session to set my day. What a joke this place is! I called and he said it was free to come and workout to try the…read morefacility. I make the 15 minute walk there, sign the waiver and proceed to warm up. I am then stopped by a 125lb trainer, saying I cannot workout without one of the staff trainers, even advanced lifters cannot. He asked for me to stop warming up and wait 5 mins and he will "guide me through my workout" lol I was dumb founded...I have trained at numerous gyms all around the country and never ran into this before. I end up waiting close to 15 mins...I pack up and leave. This is the most ridiculous thing I have heard. Now I respect how their business is run...but would have been nice to have known on the phone...or when I signed the waiver.... what is the point of the waiver now? If I get hurt under his supervision, I should be able to hold him accountable..... Many lifters do not need guidance through workouts...let alone being "trained" by someone who does not even look like they lift...I would not take advice from any of the trainers there....look the part at least. Need to get a workout in??? Go elsewhere sad thing is, this "gym" is very well equipped...all goes to waste

It is a different workout each time, making sure you don't plateau. It's what all the fitness articles tell you to do but sometimes you need the push from elsewhere to make it happen...and Jenna and the other trainers at PowerTrain do just that! The difference from OT is that PowerTrain has a weight room that you can go to at a convenient time for you and do your own thing..or sign up for personal training classes. This is a bit costly but if you're regularly attending, you're getting what you pay for. GIve it a try!! A heart rate monitor is given to you on arrival and you watch your HR throughout class...making sure to stay in the green, orange or red zones to maximize your workout. Go! Have a great time!!
