I was visiting Massachusetts over Christmas and was looking for a weightlifting gym where I could…read moretrain. Mary answered the phone when I called and invited me to come by. Im super glad I was able to find this place! When I got there, she warmly greeted me and made sure I had everything I needed, even asking me if the music was to my liking (it was!). This is an extremely well-equipped weightlifting gym with 8 full size platforms, Olympic bars, bumper plates, power racks, blocks, and chalk stands. Thinhs were super well organized, even down to the order to the plates. Throw in a few Hookgrip / ATG / USA Weightlifting banners and I was good to go! The first thing Mary had me do were some overhead squats on a vibrating plate to loosen up my muscles. Afterwards, I got on the platform and did a few snatches with just the bar. She mentioned there would be a class soon and, not wanting to miss out on coaching, I gladly agreed to take the class. Mary was super attentive and gave her full attention to watching each lifter perform the complexes she programmed. Each lift was videotaped on an iPad, and between lifts, Mary reviewed the footage with me 1 on 1 to identify issues with my form. I could see exactly what she was talking about, and fixing these problems really helped me extend and catch more confidently. Needless to say, I absolutely love this visual approach to coaching, and her advice was very easy to understand. I only wish that I had more time to spend at this gym. Their drop-in rate is $20, or $30 to drop-in and take a class, which I think is very reasonable given the quality of the coaching and how nice the facility is. I'll definitely be back to visit when I am in the area again!

My review is for the swimming lessons since that's the only service we've used here…read more We've been bringing our boys here for swimming lessons for over a year now. When we first came they had never really been in the water and by the 3 Rd lesson they were totally comfortable. They separate the kids by age group with a maximum of 4 per instructor. At this age they rarely take more than one child into the water at once, instead one child is brought out into the water while the others sit on the stairs. The lifeguard sits immediately behind the stairs and is dedicated to watching them for the entire 30 minutes. The lessons take place in an outdoor pool that's covered with canvas until the weather warms up. I've been here in February and the pool area is never cold, and often gets very humid actually. The staff is fabulous. The front desk staff are always friendly and courteous when we come and go. Mostly we deal with the pool staff. I've brought my kids in when they are overtired due to missing a nap, when they are cranky, when they are fidgity, when they have a crazy burst of energy and want to splash each other and everyone around them... And in every case the swimming instructors handled it really well. Even when I have been frustrated with the behavior my kids, the instructors have never shown frustration or unhappiness with them. In fact they've been patient and calmed the kids down in those situations. In addition to that, the staff make the lessons FUN. My kids can't wait to go to swimming lessons and smile and laugh the entire time. The lessons themselves give the kids a basic foundation for swimming- first scooping water with hands, learning to kick, floating on their backs, etc. If you have younger children who need to learn to swim this is a great place for them to learn.
