The Providence Zen Center is an incredible, healing place. I stayed there for a month in 2022 and…read moreit was a transformative experience. Everyone in the community is so incredibly kind. The mission of the Providence Zen Center is just simply to focus on compassion and practice meditation. That's it. And if by being more compassionate, learning to be more in the moment, learning to be focused and in control of our minds can help make the world a better place and help others, then heck yeah I'm going to keep doing that! I truly believe that people should at least visit the Providence Zen Center once, either on Wednesday nights at 5:30pm for dinner and meditation instruction and practice, or come check out the Sunday morning meditation instruction/practice at 9:00am and the Dharma (wisdom) talk led by a Dharma Teacher at 10:45am. The grounds are beautiful (there is a LOT of space to wander), the people are awesome, and they're even working on doing organic farming! I helped take care of plants when I stayed there. They've been selling their homegrown vegetables in farmer's markets after harvesting. The goodness they put into the local and greater community is immeasurable! It's a nonprofit organization too, so if you donate anything, it's tax-deductible. I sincerely hope that the Providence Zen Center can thrive but that can only happen if people continue to visit and join practice! So if you're looking for a place to grow your mindfulness, your compassion, and your meditation practice, look no further, this is the place for you :)

They also have plenty of parking in close proximity to the studio entrance. The studio itself has plenty of cubby storage space in the lobby/check in area as well as the studio itself. They also have a gender neutral bathroom in the studio space. The studio itself is very modern, clean and spacious. They do you have some basic props available in the studio, however , they do recommend That students bring their own props when able. They offer a range of classes, the class packages, and a drop in class options are comparable in price with other nearby competitors. It should also be noted that classes are booked entirely online. The instructors I've met, thus far have been very welcoming, as are the other students. I hope this studio continues to gain popularity and has the option to expand into larger studio space in the future.

This is a great place to come if you are looking for a good, solid yoga class. Let's be honest,…read moreit's hard to find the class for just YOU, it is a very personal decision. Here's what I look for. I am an on again, off again yoga practitioner who has been to a variety of classes at yoga studios, health clubs and retreats. Me, personally, I love a technique driven class. The point of yoga, for me, is to connect with mind, body, spirit, and breath. When I look for a class I am seeking out a teacher who is going to respect that. I do not look at yoga as a work out. I look at it as a practice, something you do somewhat daily to connect to your body. In that respect, I think Open Doors in North Attleboro is right on target. They are small, personal, and very focused. I have been to only two classes so far and am looking forward to more. What to expect: a very warm, well kept, clean, small studio. It is one single room with cubbies for your personal items/ shoes. They have blocks, straps, mats (though most people, including myself have mats), sprays in house. This is a HOT yoga class. Be prepared. I have been to a few hot yoga classes before, this one is pretty moderate, but bring water and a towel. Altogether it is a REALLY good work out (as much as I hate to admit it, it's a nice bonus considering I was looking for yoga as a health benefit). So far I have only been to the moderate/beginner class with Susan. She is very descriptive and I need that. She is incredibly sensitive to new clients. It is all about learning to know yourself, your abilities, and your limits. One last technical note, look for small shopping center on route 1, in same shopping center as "Quan's Kitchen" and "Kumon Learning Center." They have good, economical deals, very nice facilities, and a really good staff. I'm hooked!

I appreciate that they offered this class on election night for free and that they did not insist on a complicated registration process, just advertising on their Insta and encouraging folks to show up. The turnout was perhaps more than anticipated, and while the teacher was able to strategically make space for everyone who wanted to attend, things were a bit cramped, which made it a little less relaxing than I expected, but the teacher was great and it was still helpful to do the postures. The studio has beautiful hardwood floors, plants and is nicely decorated. It's in a part of the building that is used for the winter farmers market, so if you are used to coming to the market, this should be easy to find. I will definitely keep this studio on my yoga radar and check their class schedule for other community offerings and special pop ups. I don't think I am likely to visit regularly though because the parking situation is rough with limited street parking.
