I've been practicing at Breathing Time Yoga for two years this month and I'm so grateful to call this my home studio. the teachers and staff always make me feel welcomed and do an excellent job at teaching a variety of classes for students of all levels. I'm a huge fan of the community classes because it makes yoga accessible to anyone in the community who is interested in learning about and practicing yoga. I also love that that they are constantly offering classes and seminars that cover a wide variety of yoga related topics. The studios are kept in pristine condition and I greatly appreciate that they provide props for classes as well as inexpensive mat rentals. I'm looking forward to attending many more classes at this studio and hope any new to yoga or new to the area will come and check to wonderful place. read more

I really wanted to like this studio, but, unfortunately, it didn't quite live up to my expectations. I signed up for their $40 one month intro offer to sample some of the classes. I found most all the staff and instructors very friendly and I enjoyed a number of classes. However, I did not find the classes here to be very vigorous compared to other studios I've visited such as Open Doors and Stil Studio in Dedham. Of course, everyone does yoga for different reasons, but I am primarily looking for a good workout to move my body and stretch myself. If you are looking for a really good vinyasa style workout, this might not be the best studio for you. If you're more in the market for a chill, restorative environment, you'll have better luck here. My main complaint with the studio, however, was the level of dust. It was extremely dusty, especially on the top floor. After one class where I kept coughing repeatedly after reclining a little too close to a super dusty heating element, I've not been back. read more

I've been practicing yoga for over 10 years, but since I move a lot, I'm always having to find and settle into a new studio. When I moved to Pawtucket I originally picked Breathing Time over other local studios not only because a couple of people had mentioned them in positive regard, but for their early morning classes and cheap introductory offer. It seems simple, but their schedule is great and the price is right. I've been regularly attending classes there for over 8 months now, and it is by far my favorite studio, ever. The space itself is beautiful, and manages to create a peaceful environment in an ugly city. A sunrise class on the third floor is a great way to start the day. The staff are always pleasant and helpful, and since I go about 4-5x/week, I feel the unlimited membership is well worth it, and reasonably priced for the area. (Value is important to me, so I did some research here.) I'm quite biased towards Erik, since he teaches the morning class and a weekly Yin class on Sunday evenings that has become my favorite. He is an absolutely wonderful instructor; I really can't speak highly enough of him. He's always available for questions after class, and has even worked with me individually on some challenging poses. Many yogis have taught me many things, but I definitely have a special place in my heart for Erik. I credit him with not only my fine tuning of many basic poses, but also learning how to headstand, developing a more emotional connection to my practice, losing over 30 lbs, improved posture, and pretty much everything that requires thigh strength. I've had several of the other instructors (usually as substitutes for my regular classes) and they're all great. They all offer something a little different, and each bring their own personal style. I would suggest trying them all. There are several different kinds of classes, so variety is not an issue, and there are so many classes from morning to evening, it's easy to accommodate even an inconsistent schedule. To be totally honest, I was hesitant to write this review, because my favorite classes seem to be more full every week. But as someone who really LOVES yoga, I can't not share this. I will say this, though: From my experience it's not only the staff that bring such a great feeling to this studio, it's also the members. There is a real sense of non-judgement and community that adds a lot to a daily yoga practice, and the energy that is shared at Breathing Time always feels so positive. That in consideration, I advise anyone not willing to contribute to the overall spirit of this environment to find a studio better suited to their needs. read more

I absolutely LOVE feeding my inner yogi at Breathing Time Yoga! I love that we get to practice in an old restored mill building. It's perfect with its open floor plan, neutral tones, all around top-to-bottom windows and high ceilings. The staff are very attentive, appreciative and kind. They always make a point to get to know you and are very keen to meeting your needs. Whether it is to strengthen your practice, demonstrate different variations or introduce new poses. What makes me come here regularly is the non-judgmental, non-competitive, encouraging nature this yoga place has provided for me. Now, I have been extremely rusty and stiff since my last yoga experience and was looking to get back into the flow of it all. Never once did I feel intimidated or felt pushed to go beyond my limits. The instructors encourage to deepen poses, but always remind us to listen to our bodies if it needs rest. I usually go to the morning vinyasa yoga classes, which have (at least for me) been engaging, challenging and helps grounds my emotions and energy. Great for growth and de-stress. All of which I am personally working on. The staff are knowledgable and always pleasant. The space is amazing and the practice helps you grow both mentally, physically and spiritually. Highly recommend for those looking for a open, non-judgmental environment that truly fosters yoga as a form of holistic health care rather than a crazed fitness kick. read more

I had a great experience with Breathing Time! Even a committment-phobe like myself couldn't say no to their affordable wide range of classes. I came here for a few months straight and would recommend taking pretty much any class on the second floor during sunrise/sunset (so peaceful). I especially liked Tara's classes after a long day - I could work up a good sweat and the inspired readings and intentions at the beginning of class brought deeper meaning to the movement. I also really liked Christy's Beginning/Iyengar class on Monday nights. This studio might not be your first choice if you're a super-advanced practitioner or you want lots of inversions and challenging poses, but it was the perfect place for me to establish a regular practice, learn some solid yoga technique, and gain confidence as a yogi. I'd recommend Breathing Time to anyone looking for a calming, stress-free, non-judgmental yoga escape! read more

I looked long and hard to find a yoga place when I moved here. You would think a city like Providence with its large population of 20-30 somethings and alternative vibe would have a great selection. Not so much, unless you like hot yoga/bikram. I, personally, do not believe in paying to get dehydrated. Luckily, I found BT! They offer a good variety of classes and the instructors are pretty great. I'm a big fan of Linda. They also have financial aid programs for individuals unable to afford the monthly rate. The fellow yoginis are not judgmental and very diverse, making it a comfortable environment in which to practice. I only wish they had more convenient times and classes. read more

The service is great. People are nice. Fabulous teachers. Yoga studios are clean and very well maintained. I especially love the upstairs studio. The whole ambiance and personality of the establishment evokes tranquility. It may be somewhat difficult to locate the first time you come, but with time, it becomes easy. Parking is available. The studio we practiced in upstairs was simple yet beautiful and so peaceful. The enormous windows allowed the moon to shine in which was very fitting for the Full Moon Yoga class that night. Our instructor was great a quided us through a very nice Yin sequence adding in so much insight about the upcoming full moon and all the energy surrounding it. Okay, so I haven't taken a class here yet but have to review how quickly they responded to my email and how thorough the reply was. I was very impressed with the time they took to answer all my questions and how they were open to allowing me to have my 11 year old daughter possibly join with me as well. She is a great kid and would do amazing with yoga. This studio is priced the best in the area and in reading the bio's on the instructors I was excited to give this place a try. Can't wait to become a member and strengthen my mind and body as a whole. We live with our bodies for life, yet neglect maintenance. We can't trade them in, like cars or husbands, lol so yoga is the best way to heal and grow stronger. read more

She is an amazing yoga instructor with great body awareness and an impressive memory for all of her students' names. Class was great, and we felt very refreshed afterwards. I started at this wonderful, friendly studio 6 months ago and really love the variety of classes with times that work with my schedule. I LOVE Tami's Meditation with Flow class on Saturday mornings at 6:00 am. YES it's early but a wonderful, thoughtful class that is SO worth getting up for. Tami puts so much thought into her classes and each one is better than the next. I leave very refreshed, centered and happy. Tami reads a few short beautiful pieces before each meditations (beginning and then at the end of class), she then guides us through a gentle flow. I can't say enough about this class. read more

Professional, friendly, variety of classes, full schedule which accommodates different needs

If you are interested in trying a new yoga studio, this place has a great $40 first month offer for unlimited classes. I'm about 3 weeks into my first month and I can't say enough positive things about this studio. There is a wide range of classes from restorative yoga all the way to vigorous vinyasa (which I am still working up the courage to try). Every teacher I have practiced with has been amazing, super helpful and welcoming. They have all checked in with me on my first class to gauge my comfort level and assess for any physical limitations. Both of the rooms are clean and they have all the props that you will need for the classes. They have lots of classes at convenient times for varied schedules. They also have a reward system where you can get points for checking in, attending classes, and referring friends that you can redeem for lots of different prizes. The location is super convenient too, right off 95 on the northern border of Providence. I have really enjoyed these last few weeks and have used them to try different types of classes that I haven't really done before. I will definitely be extending my package and continuing my practice at Breathing Time! read more

I am 22 weeks pregnant today and a friend swears by this place for their 11am Pre-Natal Yoga with Liz. I decided that since I'm now feeling much better and energized in my second trimester, it's time to get on this train. The drop in class is $17 and if it's your first time to this business, it makes sense to get the Introductory one month offer for $40 so you can at least get your money's worth if you plan to then get a package of classes later. I arrived well over 15 minutes early and found that parking was easy to find - it's in front of the old mill looking building and you walk down the sidewalk to the entrance and they are well signed. I followed the stairs to the main studio where there's a young lady at the desk checking folks in but was advised I could sit and wait on one of the chairs as my class would be upstairs where it's just a hallway. Once I got to the class, I loved the room - it's that rustic brick old mill look with open windows on two walls, linen curtains and plenty of fans. I brought my own mat and by watching others gathering learned what other necessities to grab from the cubbies. The teacher Liz was great - very friendly, great vibes. She even had us go around and introduce ourselves, how far along and any issues we might be facing and she was great about making recommendations on how to modify in class based on a specific issue mentioned. I think that the class was great, I haven't done yoga since before my pregnancy and it was antigravity which is completely different...I found it to be great stretching and movement for me. Shavasana (the mini nap time at the end) was amazing and I felt like I took an hour long nap and so refreshed - she even showed us the best way to get comfortable with poses and movements based on the sizes of our bellies. I can't wait to go back and continue up until this little girl is ready to come out - I hear this is supposed to help with that part...we shall see! read more

Yoga can be for pretty much anyone, having said that I believe that it goes a long way to say that it is the connection one makes with the instructor that keeps a person coming back. My first time here I went with a beginners class because that is what I am! The class is a couple of flights up stairs in a old factory mill renovated on the line of prov/pawt. I was welcomed into a warm, full, & calm class. A room off to the side is for all your shoes, bags & anything you don't need to use during the class. I loved the sounds of the music softly playing in the back ground. I knew I connected to the instructor because by the middle of the class which is no quick class 1 hr & 45 min! ..But I knew I wanted to come back for more. Although at the end of the class in a fully relaxed state I was told that my instructor was leaving Breathing Time , just my luck! The ever positive person I am I knew another connection to an instructor was to be found. I knew a like an instructor that didn't push and allowed for my own pace this was important to me. I believe my 4th class I have made another connection and I am happy to say I am staying. The technique was right for me along with the pace. I chose the unlimited membership because it just makes sense, do the math, you will see. I hope to try other classes soon getting up my nerve! read more

I thoroughly enjoy the Relaxation and Stress Relief Yoga on Sunday mornings with Karen. Having an autoimmune illness, I had not done any form of exercise for over 6 years and Karen's class has helped me tremendously. Yoga is amazing because it can be modified to fit your needs. However, not at instructors are good at helping you modify. This isn't the case here. The instructors are very helpful and active within each class. They eagerly come around and give each student help with suggestions or props to help ease us into the position more fluidly. This is why this studio is an amazing place for yoga beginners of all ages, shapes and physical abilities. Classes are very diverse with young and older students. Many are like me and are doing their best to recover from an injury. There are plenty of classes to choose from. Some are tranquil and relaxing and some will make you sweat! The studio itself is very aesthetically pleasing with wood floors and high ceilings. There are plenty of blanket and block props for everyone. It's a fantastic place! read more

After regularly attending heated power vinyasa for a few years at a studio a few towns away I went searching for a location which offered something other than hot yoga. While this is the case with Breathing Time I was disappointed in all their classes, hot or not. If you are an experienced yogi who has taken hot yoga elsewhere just go into the classes here with a very open mind. Hopefully it will be what you are looking for, it's not for me. read more

I am just about done with my Intro Month at Breathing Time and I absolutely love it. I have been doing yoga on and off for about 8 years now, and I was looking to deepen my practice and start going to classes more consistently. Breathing Time is a sanctuary, I was there a few years ago with Ann Marie for Curvy Ladies and loved it. I just started back because of a 3 month groupon and Love it.. In July, I attended a preview session of Karen's recent Deepening The Breath workshop. It was the first time I had been to the studio and I immediately felt welcome and comfortable in the space. The session was held in the lower studio, which has high ceilings and is flanked by walls of exposed brick. It's one of my favorite local studio spaces because of its mellow vibe. Karen was a fantastic facilitator and provided an insightful lesson about the use of breath in asana practice. Having just completed my teacher training, I took a lot from the session that I can incorporate into my teaching as well as my own personal practice. The studio's schedule has a nice variety of instructors and there are also a lot of interesting workshops coming up. I'll definitely go back again! read more

I have been practicing yoga regularly now for a little over a year, and it is largely because of the great instructors and atmosphere at Breathing Time that I have made that commitment. From the beginners classes through the most intense sessions, Karen and the other instructors are very knowledgeable, helpful, and encouraging.
