Love this place! I came upon it by accident but now whenever I am in the area I stop by. The food has always been very fresh and tasty. In the summer weather I can bring my dog and sit outside. The staff is amazing! Two that I seem to see the most are Sammee and Phil. And no I am not related to them! However, their kindness and professionalism definitely keep me coming back.They took the time to ask my name and actually remember it. They are very good about checking in with you to make sure all is good. As I look around I can see how others are treated when they come in and also leave feeling good. Establishment opened in early summer 2024 - and is excellent! There is a lot of indoor seating; 4 separate areas to dine; one with a bar - as well as a good-sizes outside patio with both tables and a bar. Atmosphere is casual; yet some upscale food choices along with basics ranging from typical sandwiches to a $50+ filet mignon with everything in-between. We went on a Friday and got in and out within 75 minutes - with fast service and an attentive waitress named Kileen (not 100% on the spelling). Desserts are quite big! I wish we'd split one. This was our first visit at Crosby's, Niles with friends. The restaurant was packed so I recommend reservations.. The skillet cornbread and Croquette as an appetizer you will not be disappointed.. The Wrightwood salad is awesome but very large so share. My wife and I still had salad to take home. Chicken and pork chop were perfect and again more than enough and we took the rest home. Tonight, two of my coworkers and I were at crosby's having a great time. Our waitress, Sophia, was very hospitable. At a certain point in the night, we ordered drinks and were waiting for what we felt was a long time. I went to the bar and asked twice if our drinks would be ready soon, and was told they were working on it. Later a manager told us they ran out of the allowable alcohol to serve on their license, but we observed them continuing to serve drinks. I confronted the manager about it, and he said we were being cut off. What I don't appreciate about the experience, was being lied to about being served, as we closed out our tab and were told we would be serviced again. I work at a local company and will be sure to not bring our business to this location again. Had Sophia been truthful with my coworkers and I, I'm sure we could have worked it out. But to be lied to after I paid once for service, is an unacceptable business practice that I will make sure does my company never pays for again. The ambiance is nice but the service was wishy washy in our opinion. We went on a Sunday evening, we were told there was a 5-10 min wait although the place was half empty. Not a big deal. I went with a friend and for some odd reason while we were waiting to be seated, customers were asking us where the bathroom was, and greeting and thanking us, which was hilarious but also tells me that the front hostesses are not as welcoming and as attentive as they should be. The food was not anything I could rave about unfortunately. There were a few sparse feathers on my roasted chicken, cheese curds were overly saturated in oil, medium rare filet was actually medium well. It was 645pm on a Friday night, and we had no reservations. We were told there would be a 30-45 min wait, but less than 10 minutes later, we were seated. The decor was well done, updated, and casual. I sat on the cushy bench while my hubby sat on the chair. I had the view of the bar and the baseball game on TV. Read a few reviews and noticed a trend with the crab cakes, so I had to try it. I'm not a fan of Cole Slaw, so I asked to replace it with a garden salad. It's true that the cakes have lots of crabs; there were chunks. The replacement garden salad had just the right amount of dressing and included bacon. It's a good thing I like bacon because she never asked. Maybe it's because I also ordered the Mac and cheese, which also had bacon. Bacon makes everything taste better! My husband had the salmon with asparagus, and there were no complaints from him. The prickly pear margarita I had was delicious, too. Almost forgot about the Tempura Rock Shrimp - perfect crispiness and flavor. My husband and I went here for date night but saw several tables with kids. I found out they had a kids 6 next time, I'm bringing my kid. Brunch is breakfast without rules We finally tried Crosby's in Niles and we have to say it was quality food!!! We started out with a skinny prickly pear margarita and an old fashioned which both were made to how we love them! We ordered monkey bread as an appetizer and didn't realize it was going to be so big! Truthfully all the dishes were really big and it's safe to say everything here you could and should share....unless you're super hungry we definitely had to take the monkey bed bread to go however it was so gooey and melty and just delicious then we ordered the Healthy Start Breakfast and Crab Benedict both were just outstanding, but we were definitely super full after this meal! Next time we are so sharing because we need to go back and try lunch and hopefully one of their amazing desserts such a great family restaurant and the patio is beautiful which you can also bring your dog too! What a great addition to the neighborhood! They've done a beautiful job with this space. The decor is modern, fresh and classic at the same time. It's a pleasure to walk into this restaurant and take a seat. We ate at the bar as we didn't have a reservation and it was pretty busy, but we were more than happy to sit at the high topped bar and get a good view of the people and the place. The service was wonderful as well. Great job bar tenders! But what made this experience complete was the great food. Not one dish we had was mediocre, everything was great. The Tempura shrimp and lobster deviled eggs were awesome. These were the kind of appetizers that really leave you craving more. The Tempura shrimp are on fire and deviled eggs super decadent. We got the crab cakes and half a slab of ribs for entrees. Both were excellent. We were too busy gobbling them down and I forgot to take a photo. The crab cakes were especially great. Meaty and seasoned to perfection. Not too bread crumby and super fresh tasting. Great job! It's easy to screw up a crab cake and hard to make a good one, and these are definitely now a personal favorite for us. Head in and check it out, you wont be disappointed. read more

Terrible experience for brunch. Waiter started by explaining how "the menu worked" which was a bit odd, but understood that he was just trying to do his job. Highlighted the blueberry cornbread and let us know it is only available on Saturday and Sunday. Given the recommendation, we ordered and he came back to let us know they "were out" and we couldn't get. It was 10:15a, found it disappointing as the restaurant had just opened and you would think a pre-shift would have been done and that would be shared prior to upselling customers. Not the biggest deal, we saved money, but certainly an annoyance. The largest issue was with the meal. Prior to arriving I looked at the menu and decided on the avocado toast (2nd time and 2nd visit) first time I didn't catch, the website states it includes a sunny egg. The physical menu did not state an egg. So I inquired as last time I was charged $3 (for an egg, one egg) the waiter said it is not included, I explained that the website does contain the egg in the description. He offers to talk to his manager. Upon checking he comes back and says the manager said the menu on the site was the original menu from the Chicago location and is not correct. Not ideal, but would think at this point the egg would have been added as a courtesy, but no I was denied. This is has now just become a matter of principle. I let the waiter know that didn't make sense as I specifically went to the Niles location which specifically had the Touhy and Caldwell Omelet (clearly not the Southport location). Waiter says I can get the manager, I don't have the authority. Manager comes over, explains again I was wrong and he said he would "speak with corporate" I literally showed him the screenshots from both locations, clearly not the "same" menu. Manager repeated again, I'm not sure, we don't handle that, it's wrong and corporate needs to change it. Once again another opportunity to just do right by your customer. Moving ahead, bill arrived, not only did we get charged for the egg but it was $4! $3 last time and listed on the menu under sides to add egg. I approach and ask the waiter, he says "oh, that's what my manager said, I only wanted to charge you $2, but he said $4. Are you kidding me?! I'm being punished for asking you to stand by your own words. He said no, I said well clearly he not only still decided to charge after showing the black and white proof but wanted to charge me more. I'm sorry but that is not right, on any level. I was very kind and respectful and simply wanted them to do the right thing and stand by their menu, but felt like this whole situation could have been avoided by a simple, "our apologies, we will include the egg at no charge" but it was not, it felt petty and personal. I wondered how much money Crosby's was making off an egg for those that didn't pay attention. Walter once again says you can talk to the manager, he comes over and I ask why I was not only charged but more than the physical menu even stated. He looked like a deer in headlights and said I don't know, that's in the system. What?! Your waiter just said you specifically said $4. Then inquired about a COB charge that was on the bill and the waiter said it was for using a credit card, I said how can you charge it when you didn't even know how we were paying??? Overall after showing the screenshots multiple times and almost pleading for him to do the right thing, he removed the charge for the egg and "credit card fee" This didn't even have to be an issue and honestly I should have paid attention last time as I feel stupid for once again paying more than I should have for a mistake that I didn't make and then also returning. We had a reservation and we're promptly seated. Service was efficient and friendly. Restaurant was clean and comfortable. Cornbread and honey butter was good. Entrees were less than mediocre. Ribs were just ok. Rotisserie chicken salad was a big slab of flavorless chicken. The au jus was the highlight. Kids mac and cheese advertised as penne pasta was not penne, but whatever noodles they used in their soup. I didn't hate it, but try explaining that to a 3 yr old. I've been to this place twice within 1 week. The food and sorties are delicious! Roberto is a great bartender. He's friendly, polite, and attentive. The only thing I didn't like of that they couldn't substitute mashed potatoes for fries, so I had to order a sandwich instead. I did ask for extra crispy fries and actually got them extra crispy! I heard they had gotten things corrected so I gave it another try. We arrived early so we waited in the parking lot for a text message and to inform us that our table was ready. 15 mins later, still no text, so we got out of the car and checked in. After informing them we were waiting on the waitlist, they told us we could be seated. What??? But what happened to our text? So that's how our first impression started. We live close by and wanted to love it, but this is one of the worst menus for vegetarians I've seen at an American-style restaurant in a while. The only meal that's vegetarian is a Brussels sprouts salad, which was ruined by having way too much dressing on it. Crosby's has (had?) a great veggie burger at the Lakeview location, but it's not served in Niles. This is a place I'd have taken family and friends just based on proximity to home, but the total lack of vegetarian options (no sandwiches, no entrees, 0/7 daily soups) makes it a no-go. Unfortunately because of the music issue we will not be returning to this establishment. Wow! This restaurant may actually make it on this corner that hasn't had success in decades. We had a 6:45 reservation on the day after it opened. Immediately greeted with a welcome and brought to our table. Several of the employees said hello and made it feel very warm and welcoming. We started out with the Iron Skillet Cornbread and Tempura Rock Shrimp. The cornbread was a 9.8, one of the best bread type appetizers I've ever had. The butter that it is served with it is excellent and I could have put that on everything we ate! I will get this appetizer again next time I go back. The shrimp were a solid 8.2, good breading and a nice amount of sweet and spicy. For dinner, I got the Prime Rib French Dip and my wife had the Maryland Crab Cakes. The french dip was outstanding. Not overly complicated, sliced prime rib on a toasted buttered bun served with au jus and a horseradish dipping sauce. Good french fries. Simple but terrific flavor. 9.3. My wife enjoyed the crab cakes. Our waitress told us they pride themselves on making cakes with a lot more crab than breading and you could tell this was the case. My wife said she would get them again. The service was great. Noticeable in this current world where service seems to lack at every restaurant around town. Overall, kudos to Crosbys! My family hosted a baby shower here in April and everything was perfect. Our guests complimented us for holding such a "classy" event and said how much they loved the food and atmosphere. We chose to serve a Sunday brunch in the glassed-in lounge, with special choices like eggs benedict and monkey bread. Food was excellent. Several shower attendees who had never been there before have since returned on their own to dine because they loved it so much. Behind the scenes, as hosts, my family was very satisfied with suggestions and felxibility from event support staff. I really wanted to like Crosby's kitchen. Unfortunately it didn't live up to the hype of being a scratch kitchen. We made reservations for 9pm on a Saturday night and it was rather empty. We were seated quickly and they were attentive. My partner and I started with drinks. We got cocktails off of their "specialties" I grabbed a prickly pear Margarita and he got the 4 star old fashion. I couldn't taste any alcohol. They had a half rim poorly dipped in tajin and the old fashion didn't taste like an old fashioned there were no bitters. It was extremely sweet and had a medicine -like aftertaste. He called it a 1 star old fashion ( in true dad joke form lol). I got the market fish of the day which was scallops on a bed of arugula and corn salad, the scallops alone were way overseasoned but combined with the arugula and corn salad. Definitely worth trying. My partner got the ribs and he wasn't impressed. We also got the mac and cheese which was definitely the highlight of the dinner and a side of charred broccolini which was just ok. Our server was Cassie. She was really attentive and kind and I don't think she was anticipating me to judge the food every time she asked how our meal was.
