Good selection of beer and wine, and a nice patio to boot. The Wrightwood salad (sans craisins) I had was fresh and pretty good. However, I think their menu is quite limited. read more

Crosby's is perfect for families in the area. Kids eat free from 5-6pm, which is smart and certainly a draw. The food is good - not amazing, but tasty enough. I usually get the Wrightwood Salad, which has chicken, goat cheese and my favorite...the cornbread croutons. It is very good. I have tried a few other things that are not quite as tasty. But with free dinner for kids and an atmosphere and staff that is very family-friendly, it will remain a go-to for casual dinners. read more

This place is awesome! I can take just about anyone here and there's something on the menu fro everyone. I was a loyal orderer of the Wrightwood Salad, until I discovered the rotissarie chicken. Highly recommended! read more

Ok chicken nothing special bland not seasoned very much and ordered the corn bread skillet and it was cold odd because it was served in a SKILLET???? Service and atmosphere pretty good nice people nothing great about the food. read more

We had a wonderful experience here today. Most especially because we had such an awesome waitress, Emily. We have had her many times, and always enjoy our visit. She's the best! Thanks for a great time! read more

I've been here like three times, once was with my mom for lunch- I had the sashimi tuna salad and that was great, my only complaint would be that the menu did not say that there would be carrots in the salad (I'm allergic and usually I double check because I know a lot of pre-made salad mixes have carrots but whatever I just picked them out). But the other two times have been with my boyfriend just so we could get the skillet cookie! It's definitely one of my favorite desserts. read more

Wow what a great place!! Highly recommend!! The absolutely best Bloody Mary's and food was absolutely delicious! Lobster deviled eggs were amazing!! read more

Great family friendly place. Their deviled eggs couldn't be better, the wrightwood salad is one of the best in the city. Asian turkey burger kills it and chicken dip sandwich- all must haves read more

We have gone twice now and the food and service were good. Have only sat inside which is a little loud for my "old man hearing" but there's lots of outdoor seating. Items we can recommend: the brussels sprout salad (w/o bacon), burger, chicken dip & artichoke spinach dip. My hubby liked the rock shrimp fritters which was OK for me. read more

We were visiting Chicago from out of town and just happened upon Crosby's. What a find! The food and service were outstanding, the atmosphere was comfy, and prices reasonable. We started with the crab toast and buttermilk biscuits, both of which were amazing. The crab toast was loaded with crab meat but seemed like it might be dry. I was pleasantly surprised though, as the avocado spread made it the perfect bite with just a little kick from the ultra thin pepper on top. The buttermilk biscuits were light and fluffy, and the peach spread the perfect pairing. I had the ribs for an entree, which were fall off the bone delicious and paired well with the expertly cooked and crispy shoe string fries. My friend had the steak with mashed potatoes, which was the right temperature and serving size, and with the seasoning on point. The entire experience is one we will hope to repeat next time we find ourselves in the Windy City. read more

Best place to go for upscale comfort food, a family dinner, hungover brunch and a great drink! Great neighborhood joint!

Our food was great. Our server was very nice and accommodating! The only bad thing is the wait time but that's what happened when you go to a good place! read more

The food here was for the most part, DELICIOUS. Staples at Crosby's are their cornbread, guacamole, and fries for sure. We also ordered some steak, a veggie burger, and chicken tenders (whaddya know); the veggie wasn't spectacular but decent, and the steak was a little undercooked. We ordered the quinoa salad with multiple entrees, and were sadly disappointed with the unusual flavor and texture. Our waiter was kind and attentive to the kids in our group, and was prompt in filling up waters and tending to orders, even on a busy weeknight at dinnertime. It's definitely on the pricier side, but well worth it for the quality, taste, service, and overall atmosphere. It's amazing to enjoy a meal with a more remote version of Chicago right outside the window, along with a neighborhood-like and almost BBQ feel. read more

The food here is excellent. The drinks flow like glue, and if you order a scotch on the rocks, there is a 2 dollar up charge for rocks on the bill. When we inquired, the waitress gave a rambling explanation that left us more confused than when we asked the question. This neighborhood needed this business, so I will continue to try it, but there are some areas that need ironing out. read more

Our family loves this spot on Southport. We've never had a problem getting a table with our toddler (whether it's indoors or outside). Great food, great service and we will be back read more

I used to love the Wrightwood salad here. Large chunks of fresh rotisserie chicken in a tasty salad with fresh cornbread croutons. Unfortunately, the salad that I was just served was not fresh. The lettuce was wilted, the croutons soggy, and the chicken wasn't fresh. My husband's sandwich was good, but the fries weren't hot. Oh well. It may have been a fluke, but I'm not in a rush to come back. read more

Loved it. I had the half chicken with mashed potatoes. The chicken was juicy with a great, but light, smoke flavor. The servers, decked out in cheesy holiday sweaters, were all smiles. Our food came out fast and the ambiance was quiet and relaxing. If I lived in Chicago, I would return. read more

I was excited to hear of a new restaurant opening on Southport since I live close by. There has been six restaurants that have opened and closed in Crosby's Kitchen location, why Crosby's Kitchen thinks they are doing anything different or over the top to give them a reason to succeed over the other restaurants that have failed in their same location beats me. I dined at Crosby's Kitchen sometime last week at nine o'clock with my girlfriend. Out server greeted us in five minutes after sitting down. Waters came ten minutes later. I ordered a martini for myself and a glass of wine for my girlfriend. The Martini came with the wine ten minutes later. It also came in an old fashion champagne glass. I get the old fashion cocktail thing but i don't want my martini served in anything other than a martini glass. I ordered a full slab or ribs and my girlfriend ordered Maryland crab cakes. The ribs were absolutely gross and had a terrible presentation. Before the ribs arrived I was given a cold bottle of BBQ sauce to put on them. The sauce was disgusting, I am aware that ribs don't have to be fall off the bone to be good ribs, there rib just didn't make any sense. The Maryland crab cakes on the other hand were just two small crab cakes with your choice of a side for $24! They tasted like a food service product. Crosby's Kitchen is not doing anything over the top, they are just serving american food that they call southern. The food is way over priced. I could get into way, this is me being nice. People of southport, if you want better restaurants in your area you must attract them. Don't support restaurants that aren't doing it right! read more

Researched many places to find a kid-friendly place to while visiting Chicago. Crosby's kept coming up, so we hopped on the Brown Line and went there. They delivered. The kids enjoyed their meals and my wife and I did as well. She ordered the Wrightwood Salad and I had the crab cakes. Very good place. read more

I was here for brunch and lunch, I think the food is mediocre because the serving size is a bit small especially for salads. I find the hostess a bit unfriendly. It's convenient because it's close to where I live. I personally think the prices are a bit high for the amount of food. read more

Mmmmmm! Every time I've gone the food was absolutely delicious! Pro tip - THEY TAKE BRUNCH RESERVATIONS! I'm not sure if this is for large groups only, but brunch reservations on a weekend is unheard of and they accommodated our 15+ person party on a Sunday during brunch hours no problem. I don't know many places that take brunch reservations, but they do (at least for large parties, I am unsure about smaller groups). If you go on a whim on a weekend for brunch, expect like a 45min+ wait for even a party of 2. The food is well worth it though. read more

I went here for brunch with my partner on a Sunday. The wait wasn't too bad but once we were seated it took a while for the the waitress to get us our waters. Or even come by in the first place. Our food took an extraordinarily amount of time, which I generally don't care too much about but our simple appetizer did not come out until 20 minutes after our meal. People who were seated after us and ordered the same appetizer got the appetizer long before we did. The menu is limited and our food was good once we got it. However, my main complaint is in reference to the the people who were seated next to this. This poor women ordered a meal that came with a biscuit (apparently she really liked the biscuits here) she ordered and did not find out until after the food was out that they had run out of biscuits! The manager said that it would take an hour to cook(? An hour?) and about 5 minutes later the manager came out with a biscuit after she had discovered that they had been cooking them after all. Poor communication between the kitchen and wait staff is apparent. read more

So this place can be pretty busy and the wait times may make you say, "Never mind!" but if you are willing to wait, it's pretty perfect for a casual sit-down meal whether you're getting brunch, lunch, or dinner. Highly recommend the turkey burger. Actually, it's my favourite turkey burger in the city, maybe ever. But it's not saying much, I'm not a turkey burger aficionado or anything, but I do have good taste (buds)! read more

I left to get the restaurant around the 3rd quarter of the Indiana football game; I am an alum, and we were playing our biggest rival. Both tv screens, which were mounted on the same wall, less than two feet away from each other, were on the OSU/Mich game. I calmly asked the manager, James Miller, if he wouldn't mind changing one of the screens to the game I wanted to see. He refused, and gave a very ridiculous argument about how since other people asked for the osu game to be on, he wouldn't change it, even though it was on both TVs. I was not happy about this, and my displeasure turned to anger as I realized that no one at the bar was watching the tv on the right side, of course save for James, who could only see that one as he was working by the kitchen. Two more at my table requested it to be changed to the game we wanted to see, and yet James never changed it, and was downright rude to us, a table of 6. It is highly unprofessional to not change the tv for customers who want to see a second game, especially when there would be a screen on the main game, and because the main reason James wouldn't change the screen, was he was a Michigan fan and was actively watching the game. It was unprofessional to be watching sports while working anyways, let alone the fact that he seemed to be the only person in restaurant who would have been affected by the switch. As we were leaving, we tried to point out how rude he was, and how poor of a managerial job he had done by not trying to improve customer experience, he childishly walked away from us back to the kitchen, not even trying to give us a reasonable response. James Miller was rude, childish, unprofessional, disrespectful, and has completely turned all 6 of us away from ever wanting to eat here again, which is shame since 3 of us were regulars. Don't come to Crosby Kitchen if you're hoping to have a good dining experience. read more

Dinner was good. The deviled eggs live up to their reviews, definitely a must if you stop in. The service was excellent. I only wish their menu was more extensive. read more

Check the menu before you go. It's brief. I am obsessessed with the veggie burger and spinach dip. menu lacks a little in depth but don't think you will be disappointed. Waiters are great. Hostess staff leaves a bit to be desired. Don't go before 6 if you don't want kids around. Overall good to have around in the neighborhood.I wish the menu was deep enough that I could go once a week. read more

This place is so solid and we have never have been disappointed in or two dozen visits. Great family (early) and date (later) spot. Dinner is excellent. Lunch and brunch are excellent. Service is excellent. Same at Frasca and I'm hoping for the same at Tuco and Blondie, a Mexican restaurant the owners have slated to open soon. Recommend the omelets and fried egg sandwich at Brunch. Wrightwood salad and anything off the rotisserie are also great. read more

This is my first Yelp review and while it won't be the most positive thing I've ever written, I do feel compelled to share the traumatic and maddening experience I had at Crosby's Kitchen on New Year's Day. I'm a frequent diner of the sister restaurants to this establishment, and I'm sad to say that I have never been more criticized and verbally abused by a restaurant staff in Chicago than I was at Crosby's. Never have I sat down and ordered wine and food with friends (which I've done at many a fine dining establishment in Chicago for the past 5 years), only to be told we've all been "over served", after our waitress chose to vocally and publicly express her feelings towards serving our table with rolled eyes and statements like "I'm sorry what was that you ordered?" The staff was offensive, rude and undermining to me and my friends from the moment we walked in, ultimately kicking us out, and thus ensuring that none of us will ever be visiting any of their establishments again. As someone who works in HR and public relations, I'm sad to even acknowledge this place as part of the Chicago dining scene since I've never been treated so negatively, horribly and disgustingly in my life. I'm sad I chose to bring my friends here and they had to experience such prejudice. Let's not even mention to multiple catty comments shared by our server in the corner to the entire wait staff. It's great to know that Crosby's employs an immature staff who doesn't respect a single patron. Would love to say we had a great time, but it seems Crosby's employs lazy, judgmental and aggressive staff who prejudice their diners with no reason or premeditation. Won't be visiting again and encourage you to do your homework before trying this place out. read more

This was our first visit to Crosby's, and we were really looking forward to it, and, especially to trying the Lobster Deviled Eggs. Once we were seated, our server came over and promptly advised that they were out of the Deviled Eggs, and the Prime Rib! Both of which we were gong to order. It was only 7:30 on a Saturday night, how did they run out? I have always been of the philosophy, either you're open of your closed, not partially open. At any rate, I had the rotisserie chicken, which is supposed to be a specialty. It was mediocre and the mashed potatoes were soupy. My husband decided to try the Flat Iron Steak in lieu of the Prime Rib, and it was less than mediocre. I do have to say, that the Chicken Black Bean Chili was tasty, but, lacked chicken. All in all, a very disappointing experience read more

Great food served in a DEAFENING ENVIRONMENT! We will never go back! Child came in and stood behind my husband and started a temper tantrum on the top of her lungs! What was so funny was that my husband couldn't even hear her due to the enormous din of other noise in the place! read more

The food here was good - consistent classy bar food. The reason for my review is a reservation incident. We made reservations for a Friday night because we were getting a babysitter and didn't want to spend a lot of time waiting. We got a call day of and text confirming our reservation, but then when we showed up, no ressie to be found in the system. We showed our confirmation text, but alas, we had to wait a while for our table. I'll most likely be back because it's close and easy, but I won't make a reservation, because what's the point? read more

My go-to brunch spot! Best monkey bread in the city. I love the fact that you can make a reservation, which if you live in Chicago, you know is hard to come by, especially during brunch hours. The staff is always friendly and the food is delicious. read more

I'm new to Chicago and one weekend decided to wander around the Southport Corridor and explore a new neighborhood. After some great shopping and coffee, my husband and I decided to stop in to Crosby's for an early dinner at the bar. We were able to grab a seat right away, and the inside was warm, welcoming, and had some of the comfiest bar seats I've ever sat on. I got a great red wine and he was happy with the beer selection. The wine was good, not great, but definitely drinkable. We started with the cornbread, which was a huge portion and delicious. I'm pretty sure it has jalapeños in it but this didn't make it too spicy, just a little more complex. I had the rotisserie half chicken with mashed potatoes, which was flavorful and juicy. Sometimes you just want a warm home cooked-style meal when you go out and this fit the bill on a cold day. My husband had the burger, which was also tasty. Instead of being one of those heavy buttery restaurant burgers it actually tasted like it was cooked fresh on a grill. My one criticism is that the bun was kind of big for the burger, but not a deal breaker. I also enjoyed picking at his perfectly crisp french fries. By the time we left, the restaurant had filled up with families. I thought it was nice that the restaurant was relaxing but fun for people without kids, but also seems like a good place for people with kids to get out and have a great meal. I hope to come back and try their brunch soon! read more

You have to try this place. Everything we had was real great to excellent. The crab cakes were the best I have had in years anywhere. My wife had the deconstructed chicken pot pie. I've lived in the neighborhood for a few months and have walked by here several times. Finally today while heading to the UPS store across the street, I stopped in for lunch. Never got to try the Mushroom Love and maybe a crab cake because no one stopped by my table but the water guy. Since the menu was new to me, I took several minutes to peruse. Then I started reading today's RedEye. Still no one came by. Not even for a drink order to say they'd be with me in a minute. One of the waitstaff stopped at the table across from me -- they came in after I did. Thought she might be my waitress but apparently not. It's not like there was any confusion that I might be waiting for someone because my coat, large purse and tote were taking up the other chair. After 10 minutes with nothing but the water guy, I told the hostess I was leaving. She was very apologetic. Lack of communication? Who knows. I strolled over to Noodles & Company instead. I'll probably give it another whirl because it seems like a nice place to hang out (I'm a sucker for a fireplace) but the first impression wasn't a good one. read more

Some coworkers made plans to go here after work last night and I came with. I didn't really get the 'shock factor' about this place, it was good but kind of lacked appeal. Very basic, standard interior with a super normal menu. I don't get what makes it stand out over the other 10000 spots like this in Chicago, but the prices and the food went hand in hand so I'm glad I went here and not somewhere with the same pizazz and just more expensive. read more
