Party of 3. No one said a word to us when we walked in. We stood by the bar and waited until someone finally said we should seat ourselves. We ordered wings (mild), 1 beer, 2 sodas, and 2 eight cut pizzas. The wings were crispy but had no flavor. The pizza was absolutely disgusting. The cheese tasted fake and it was so thick that that's all the pizza tasted like. There was no sauce (if there was it had absorbed into the massive amount of cheese).... Worst pizza I've ever had. My husband asked for another beer and the waitress took his glass, that was still 1/3 full from his first beer, instead of just bringing another one. We were charged full price for one refill both of our sodas, so it ended up being $10 for 2 sodas. The bill came and it was way more than expected. No one was friendly. While we were there, a customer went up to the bar to complain about his order. The chef came out and yelled at him, insisting that he did the order correctly. I live nearby and this is my go to place. It's comfortable, the food is pretty good and the service is very friendly. It's a typical small town diner with a nice view of the water and the park. I always feel welcomed even though I'm not from around here. The other place in town isn't bad either, but I usually come to Cronie's. Edit: I wrote this waiting for my food. I've always had the American stuff. I just ate half of a meatball calzone, and I'm ordering Italian from now on. They make their own meatballs. Delicious! The sauce is doctored, but being 3/4 Sicilian, I can tell you that's what most Italian grandmothers do when nobody's looking. (Not mine, God forbid!). The waitress said all the Italian food is home made. I'll be trying more later! read more

Service is usually decent, food is good, menu is limited. It needs to be updated. Outdated and dirty in some areas.

-This food is warm and has some flavor. -The beers are cold. -I hear the pizzas are ok, and I see a ton of people picking them up. -Dinner specials are $12-$15 and include a soup or salad, entree, vegetable(s) -The waitresses are making an effort at being 'friendlier' The only shitty part of the place is that they have this woman and her child that are always there and screaming. They're seemingly always there and every other table complains about them to their respective tables. They let the little girl run up to other tables and bother the patrons. It's a pleasure when you hear the mother scream that they're leaving. Overall, stick your head in the door, see if the loud people are there, and if not...stay. I saw an article in the local paper about Cronies in Hagaman which said the pizza tasted like a restaurant that had closed a while back that was located in Amsterdam. Remembering that pizza we decided to try Cronies takeout. When I walked in I said Hi with no response. A waitress came over and I said I was early for the pickup but would like to pay for my items. She asked my name and walked away not seeing her for a while. Another waitress came out and the same conversation was done. She was friendly. While waiting a few locals came in being greeted with friendly banter. Before I left a gentlemen came in and was talking to, I believe the owner, about the COVID-19 issue and started saying that the people on welfare are not suffering due to any pay cuts and mentioned about a recent food drop off for people that made him mad enough to call his local "legislator". I work for a local agency and manage the food pantry. While a small handful do seem to take advantage of the system the majority do not. This person should volunteer in a pantry and hear their stories. You may be surprised. I was still looking forward to the pizza and wings we ordered. The wings were good but the pizza was not tasty and was on the dry side. I will not be going back. read more

If it were possible, I would have given a quarter of a star review, so just keep in mind one star is generous. So, when you pull into a place you have been in the past because it's past dinner time and other places were either closed or busy, you have to lower your expectations. That being said, I have had decent meals there in the past. Not exceptional, but edible. This time, I would have hoped for edible. When we sat down, the waitress informed us there were no mashed potatoes or fries available. Odd being that there are chain grocery stores literally about 2 miles away. But oh well. I was hungry. My girlfriend ordered the eggplant parmesan sandwich. Seemed like a safe bet. Her son ordered the "Cronies burger" I asked for a half order of wings and hoped the potato skins were pre-made and still available despite the great Hagaman potato famine of 2016. But alas not.... So I opted for the Yin to chicken wing yang and got the vegetable du jour green beans. Order #1 Eggplant parmesan sandwich - The roll it was on was grilled on the inside. Or should I say crusted with grease to the point that a hacksaw would have been needed to cut through it. So much for some tasty, sauce laden bread. Which by the way was straight from the Sysco can. Order#2 Cronies burger - The boy ate a couple bites and then grazed on the lettuce, tomato and onion. Why? Because the burger tastes like it had been boiled in used dishwater. We both tried it and agreed. Order #3 - Half an order of wings and green beans aka the Cronies Yin-Yang due to lack of spuds. The wings were cooked crispy as asked. The sauce was just straight Frank's Red Hot, no butter or other spices. Edible, but not the first thing I would desire after being stranded on a desert island for years. The green beans were straight from the Sysco can as well. Complete with juice from the can. No butter or other attempt at seasoning. Oh and let's not forget that fountain sodas are a high cost, high overhead item for restaurants. No free refills on that 7 cents worth of beverage that they charge $2 for. Total bill for " cuisine" I wouldn't feed to an ISIS informant I wanted to extract information from? $28. Should have gone to Burger King. I ordered one and when it came I turned to waitress and said "This is so big I could rope two together and escape Cuba" She said "what" At the time American Cuban relations weren't what they are today. Gave Cronie's a try again. Got there at 5:10 pm and finally got our food at 6:30 PM. It took them over 15 minutes just to give us a glass of water. It's pretty obvious that their priority is the pizza, not the in-house customers. The waitress we had was good, friendly and apologetic. However, the 'steak sandwich' was served on a slice of toasted bread because they ran out of steak rolls. Oh, really? Why didn't you approach the customer to ask them if they still wanted the steak sandwich instead of serving it to them on a slice of bread, half the size it normally is, yet charging the same price? Went here off a recommendation from a hagaman native for a special family date night out. Sat in the back closet to the kitchen as we have our 1.5 year old with us. Was there for an hour before receiving any food for our child which we put in that order first thing. Witnessed a loud unprofessional kitchen fight the trickled out into the dining room very close to our table. Employees then chatted with us about the incident after taking their smoke breaks to calm down and compared the situation to an episode of Hell's Kitchen. From what we experienced I couldn't agree more with that comparison. Gordon Ramsay check this place out! When we received the food it was piping hot with oil dripping from the highly undercooked thick French fries. We asked if they didn't mind putting it in the fridge to cool down. Then when it was brought back to us I noticed 2 hairs on the plate. That's when we knew we didn't even want to wait any longer for our food. I spoke with the owner who was far from forgiving for the bad experience and offered nothing to correct their mistakes. I'm disappointed and headed home to cook a late dinner for my little one. Passed by lots of times and always said, 'I should try this place'; so I did. It was just 'ok', one star just for being within 2 miles of home. so much unrealized potential! shrimp dinner, for the price I expected something better than popcorn shrimp. Fries were soggy. Fiance saw golumki (sp?) advertised on the road sign as well as the specials board inside. After ordering it, waitress came back and said they didn't have any. Corn chowder was bland. Service was a notch below average. Salad was nothing more than subpar iceberg lettuce. My search continues for a decent place to eat in the Amsterdam area, because this isn't it. read more

Tonight was the first time I have gone to this restaurant. It was a fairly later time to eat dinner. I wasn't expecting too much, as all of the other restaurants were either too crowded or closed. At first, I thought the family setting was quite cute, and the waitress seemed nice. However, she stated that they were all out of potatoes. Which shouldn't be an issue, since there are grocery stores that sell bags of potatoes within a 10-15 minute driving distance. But I can forgive this. We ordered our drinks, and got them pretty quickly. We then ordered our food, and waited. Waited. And waited some more. The place wasn't crowded. There were maybe 4 small groups in the restaurant. I ordered the Cronies Burger, since it was my first time. A side of onion rings came with it as a substitute for fries. First things first - the burger. I took a bite out of it, and hadn't seen that big of an issue. But then I kept on eating it, and the more I tasted it, the more I noticed that the beef tasted boiled. Within at least a few bites, the burger fell completely apart. I kept trying to eat the burger, but I just couldn't stomach it anymore. So I ate the vegetables that fell out of the burger instead. And no amount of salt and ketchup could save those grease-drenched onion rings. I ate not even half of the burger before giving up. I went to the bathroom, and the quality of the restroom was about the same as you would find in a gas station. My family and I were severely disappointed with how our food turned out and the effects lasting on us after we left. If I could rate this restaurant 0-out-of-5 stars, I would.
