    Ang butter croffle

I don't think I've ever had a bad experience here! Everything I've ever gotten from here has been delicious and fresh, including their croffles, mochi donuts (my colleagues love them and I frequently bring these for them for birthdays and other special occasions), and drinks. I'm especially fond of their Dalgona latte, which comes with these amazing dalgona sugar chunks and is not too sweet. There has never been a super long line here and service is very efficient. There is seating inside, some tables in the back and bar-style seating at the front of the store. I will be returning here whenever I get the chance!

Cute dessert and drink place right next to the Murray hill Long Island railroad stop. The mochi donuts were delicious. I had never had a croffle before but it was delicious. The Nutella banana one had a whole large long piece of banana inside. Service was friendly and he explained certain different flavors to help me decide which one to purchase. I will definitely return.

Everything was delicious! I loved the fresh strawberry croffle and the decadent cookie croffle. The sweet potato mochi bread was soft and warm on the inside, and the mochi donut was chewy and soft. The service is very nice, there are lots of attentive staff. There is seating inside, with a clean bathroom.

As someone who really likes croissants, I was really excited to try their croffle. I had their mango croffle and I really liked it! I find it to be crispy and I think I tasted a bit of honey that made me enjoy it more!

I shared the chocolate and almond croffle and the chewy Dubai cookie. Both yummy! I would buy the "cookie" again.

This is cute little place in the Murray hill area. Next to the LIRR. a very nice lady behind the counter today. She recommended me to try the mango croffle . It was sweet, with lots of whipped cream .

Fast service, good place to get liquid energy before a day in the city. Mostly k pop music playing and a chill guy making the order. We've already had croffles which are amazing here.

I got their strawberry and mango croffle delivered and it was delicious! They weren't too sweet and the cream was really light, which paired well with the croffle itself. I loved the strawberry one as there was strawberry jam and the strawberries themselves were really sweet. The mango one was alright as the mangos were a bit bitter. Overall, a cute dessert spot and I would love to try their other menu items!

Great quality desserts Picked out a couple of treats that caught my eye. The banana pudding was spot on, really love the layering on the dessert. Interior was clean and we'll kept. Staff are also welcoming

Have tried their croffle in the past and wanted to try their mochi bread this time. Not quite a fan... the texture is there but the flavor wasn't really it for me. You do taste the sweet potato in the potato mochi bread. The chestnut mochi bread didn't have any chestnut flavor to it. The Dolgona latte - loved it! I don't like my latte sweet at all and they made it just right for me.

Absolutely delicious waffles. I've only ever had waffles here but each one did not disappoint and I've tried a variety of flavors here! As a chocolate lover, surprisingly chocolate wasn't as yummy as the strawberry but still great. The price is definitely just decent but a nice dessert after dinner in the area.

Do you have vegan or eggless options?

    Mochi is naturally vegan.

Are the mochi donuts gluten free?

I haven't asked the owners but as far as I know, rice is gluten-free. But it's not a gluten-free establishment so if you're very strict I'd be cautious.

What brand of oat milk do they use?

    We use oatly original brand

Do you guys still sell the red bean and butter croffle?

Yes, thats our Ang butter croffle

At what time will stock begin to run out?

Croffles are available until closing time. Mochi donuts we make limited quantity everyday and it usually sells out by 4pm. You can call the store and ask before you come to make sure we have mochi donuts if thats the only thing you want

    Are there any vegan options?

No sorry we currently do not carry any vegan options. All our pastry contains eggs, butter, cream.

Will the mochinut and croffle still good overnight?

Not really. They start to get hard after a few hours.

Do I have to order the cakes in advance?

No, all of our cakes on floor display are all for sale. However if you want a certain style and we dont have it on display we can make it for you! Just ask us in advance

Is there any heated outdoor seating?

    Unfortunately not..

I am a fan of the pandan flavor desserts and bought two that I wanted to try. One being a roll cake and the other layer cake. The pandan roll cake with taro I was told is a specialty that they only have on weekends. It was really flavorful, moist and spongy, just perfectly touched with a dash of sweetness in both the cake and the cream - I personally don't like overly sweet foods, and this is just perfect for me and my mom. I'm equally pleased with the layer cake as well it was very fresh and have that "QQ" texture - deliciously chewy and bouncy. This too, just hit right for me on the gentle sweetness, the pandan flavor keeping the spotlight in this dessert. My mom and I are big fans of these desserts. We just came back trying out others pandan layer cakes in Downtown Flushing and this shop beats them by a large margin. I hope to come back more when we could even though this shop is quite a distance for us.

I walked into a clean, well lit space designed for quick selection rather than lingering, and the display cases were filled with brightly decorated cakes and pastries that looked consistently fresh. The mango based cakes are the most consistent thing here. I tried one and found it light, creamy, and built around fresh fruit rather than overly heavy frosting, which made it easy to finish even after a full meal. The matcha cake also worked well, leaning more milky than bitter, with a soft sponge that held its structure without feeling dry. The pork floss cakes are one of the more interesting savory sweet options, and they came out better than I expected since they did not go overboard on sweetness. The croissants and egg tarts are solid supporting items rather than the main reason to come. The croissant I had was flaky with a noticeable butter layer, and the egg tart was best eaten warm as the custard tightens up when cold. The purple rice desserts are heavier but work if I want something more filling and texturally different from the fruit cakes. Service was generally efficient even when the bakery was busy, and the staff moved through orders quickly. Prices sit a bit higher than older style Flushing bakeries, but the tradeoff is cleaner presentation, more modern flavor combinations, and consistently fresh looking cakes. For a modern bakery stop in Flushing, Shakalaka delivers on quality and visual appeal.

At $2.95 each I got a baked roast pork bun, and a pineapple topping custard bun. Both were very big and every component was high-quality. The pork inside was a natural looking sauce - not bright red, the pork was cut up into regular pieces/strips it was like a healthy meal. The bread part was fluffy, dense and didn't feel like an empty white flour situation. The custard bun had a very generous amount of a custard in it and the pineapple topping didn't crumble off and fall off into pieces, but was very nicely made shell. And it was "Not-too-Sweet"! AND they were also warm! The shop's pretty simple with maybe 10 different items, also frozen baos to go, lotus wrapped sticky rice and tarts, the homemade pineapple cakes looked good. I got a Hong Kong milk tea (hot) $2.25, but the flavors weren't that strong. There were a lot of students picking up snacks, probably from nearby Queens, College, young families, a grandpa and his adult grandson came in for hot milk tea, and egg tarts. The lady who I assume is the boss said she had held a pop-up shop about two years prior which blew up, hence what we see here. The selection here was deceptively small compared to chain bakeries, but it didn't take us long recognise how much power the smaller selection packs and, actually, how the selection really is not small at all. The matcha red bean loaf grabbed my attention straight away and didn't disappoint, but their red bean bun was just as impressive, as it's a more bread-y counterpart to the fluffy versions other bakeries typically have. The onioissant is definitely experimental and worked better on the chive bacon cream cheese one than on the pollack roe, which was a bit too much on the salty and fishy side for my liking. Their chocolate horn is at least twice as big as a typical one you'll find at other bakeries and has a rich dark chocolate filling which was a pleasant surprise. Their coffee brioche pastry was another hit, thanks to the strong coffee filling and delicate layers of pastry.
