The food quality was pretty poor. My fiancé had a tuna steak with "five pepper sauce" and I am fairly certain that the sauce was mostly molasses with maybe a bit of hoisin sauce and some type of bits of peppers in there, but the overwhelming flavor was molasses. I got the seafood risotto which had an alright flavor, but the risotto was overcooked by a long shot. Someone at the table got crab dip and the chips were stale, and the dip itself was drowning in old bay flavor- not in a good way. I also had a kale salad which was super lemony, and I love lemon but I might as well have been sucking on lemon slices. I love supporting local spots and hate to be this critical, but this was a huge miss for me. I visited Croc's for Sunday's Drag yourself to brunch 11:00 AM show. I had heard about this place before and ended up going with a few co workers. We had a really great time and set by the bar for the entire show. Not a bad seat but if you want to really enjoy the show and possibly be apart of it then I would suggest making reservations. If not, sit by the bar. I had the mango mimosas and it was decent. I had the hangover scramble in a wrap with the hash browns. The hash browns were really great and the wrap was a good choice as well. The show is entertaining and the queens are great. The restaurant was in walking distance from our weekend rental so we decided to try it. We sat down at 6:30pm. We ordered our food, and waited....and waited. We did receive our pita bread appetizer after a while. After 58 minutes two tables that sat over 35 mins after us received their food. Additional appetizers continued to be served to the tables all around us as well. We asked the server if our food was almost ready, she told us that it was taking longer because we had some fried food and and that takes longer to cook. We asked for our order to be packed up and still waited another 20 minutes. Our server told us at least 3 times our food was in its way out. Dinner was $119 plus a $25 tip in cash as I know it wasn't the servers fault. We did ask to speak with a manager. The manager came out and seemed surprised that we even had an complaint. It's a small place, and not very busy. It's April 1st, not busy season at the beach. I would expect the manager to know if a table had been waiting over an hour for their food order. She looked at her watch and said sorry they are understaffed. I understand that as many places are understaffed however ever other table received their food in a timely fashion. I understand stuff happens, but giving the "we are short staffed" excuse is lazy and unprofessional. Tell me you messed up, be honest at least. The food was hot, however with the 5 meals and the six of us at the table for an hour and 30 mins I figured they would have given us enough plastic utensils to eat with. read more

Who knew BINGO was so much fun! I am solely basing my review on Croc's Bourbon, Burgers & Bingo night that is held on the first Wednesday of every month. Reservations are needed and I highly recommended to guarantee a seat. I came with 3 other people, for a party of 4 total. BINGO is held out on the covered porch and is played traditional style and blackout style. BINGO is hosted by the same Queen that hosts "drag me to brunch". She was an excellent hostess and kept the party going... Loved her! We started around 6pm and stayed to the final round at almost 9pm. Once you are seated, you have a server throughout the whole process.There are awesome prizes for each round. Apparently we sat at the "lucky" table because this is what our table won combined: (3) bottles of wine, (1) set of stemless wine glasses, (2) gift certificates for the next BBB night, (2) tickets to "drag me to brunch", (2) tickets to The spirit of Norfolk, Drag the Night away cruise & (1) cozy hat and scarf set. AWESOME! Needless to say we had a great time and left planning to make our next reservation for the next BBB night already. I love doing unique things and this was def. one of those. The Sunday drag show was a lot of fun and the restaurant managed to bring in some talented performers that are really fun to watch for yesterday's show. They were all full of energy, gorgeous and wore some stunning pieces. My Yelp friend and I arrived shortly after 11 for the 11:00 show. I had made reservations earlier in the week, which was painless. Upon entering, we were given the option of sharing a large table with other groups and be in the center of the action or to sit in a smaller two top by the bar. We chose the latter, which worked well since we were able to see the show but didn't feel pressured to tip. The service was not so great. Granted we were both really hungry, having to wait 20 minutes after being seated to even be acknowledged is unacceptable any way you swing it. Once our server finally helped us, he was pretty attentive and fast, though had no personality (it's a drag show man, have some energy!). Also, while the food was better than average and the portions were decent, some things were grossly overpriced. My cup of coffee was nearly $5 and a bloody mary was $8. I don't understand why an auto-gratuity of 20% was added to our check since we were only a party of 2. This would have pissed me off less had we been helped when we were first seated. read more

I've been coming to Croc's for almost 4 decades, back to when Phil Decker was involved in ownership. Times have changed. Phil's no longer there, nor Pat the great chef they had. We usually go and get their great shrimp with key west sauce and five pepper tuna bites and oysters Rockefeller. So we went last night.....wow, the rocks which there were only five were so overcooked they were impossible to eat. 4 of the were no bigger than a silver dollar. The blackened tuna was dry and tasteless with no five pepper sauce and the famous shrimp had been replaced with some version of you local Oriental food place shrimp tempura. Unbelievably bad food. I ask to speak with Cal, the owner and was told he was on vacation. Hurry back buddy, the restaurant is dying. Needless to say, we won't be back. read more

First thing to understand is that you must make reservations and those must made with a valid credit card. Note as well the mandatory 20% gratuity. Other big thing to be aware of is the clear violation of the fire code. There were so many people here it was just insanity. Logistics here overall are a nightmare. Parking is at a premium and we ended up in a lake of mud across the street. Then we fought to get through the door. Pushed past to check in, squeezed through to get to the bar and then battled for attention from the bar tender. My one $16 drink took 30 minutes between getting someone's attention, getting the drink,and getting change. Over priced and underwhelming. When we were finally squeezed into a table, despite the best efforts of a very nice server, service continued to be a ridiculous wait for overpriced food that left much to be desired. On to the drag. It's always going to be a good show. They only had 4 girls who made 3 rounds of 2 songs. The drag here is at a higher level than Iguana, but they have no stage, so the queens are essentially just shimmying around cramped chairs and anxious servers. I miss the theatricality. And lord the music was just too loud. Also, one queen is convinced she was Reba so be prepared for 30 minutes of just that. Just one more show to check out. Rainbow Cactus here I come. read more

Also, we kept asking John for 1s, and he didn't even let us get up.. he had the lady come to us during the show to exchange $$. John made sure we stayed in our seats to enjoy the entire show. Now, the food.. I ordered the Chick Club without onions. Okay so I usually don't prefer grilled chicken, but that sandwich... I would eat over and over again. The bacon was so crispy and the sauce that they put on the sandwich was delicious. I finished my plate. The menu was pricy but I'd say overall it's worth it. For drinks; I ordered the peach mimosa, blowjob shots, and sex on the beach shots. Went to Croc's for their famous drag yourself to brunch event. I started off with a Bellini which was delicious. For an appetizer I ordered a side of bacon, which tasted like it had been precooked and was lukewarm. Secondly our server was not attentive. It took her a good 30 minutes to order our drinks and food. I ordered the crab cake BLT with fries loaded with bacon and cheese. The food for our whole table wasn't even hot. Since we were sitting by the kitchen we observed the cooks pushing out fresh food but our server specifically wasn't pushing her food out to the tables in a timely manner which was why our food came out cold. The crab cake was salty and tasted like it had been sitting for a long time. There wasn't any cheese or bacon on the fries really but they up-charged $4.00 for it. The little bit of cheese on the fries was hard cold like it had been sitting for a long time. The entertainment was awesome though! I think that servers automatically get 20% gratuity is fine but when the server doesn't check on your table, gets order wrong, serve cold food, and takes over 30 minutes to take drink and food orders why should they be tipped 20% automatically. I loved the performers and the hostess for the brunch was popping. They were extremely engaged with the audience and I'd party with these ladies any day! I went in for dinner on a Saturday night not knowing what to expect, and I must say, it was excellent! Will definitely come back again! Our food was fantastic (and so is the Saturday half-off a bottle of wine deal). We got the crab dip which I definitely recommend because I was AMAZING - barely any fillers just delicious lump crab meat. The shrimp and grits was really delicious and so was the five peppered tuna (the sauce on the five peppered tuna is fantastic!!). Both of our dishes had nice flavors and you get a lot of food for the price. Our server, Daniel, was very helpful and his wine and food recommendations were definitely on point. The decor is "casual elegance". They do a lot to turn it from a bar-brunch kind of place into a nice place to eat dinner (from upscale cutlery/glasses, to black table cloths, etc.) However, it doesnt really lose its casual vibe with these changes. We stumbled across Croc's one night while trying to find an oceanfront restaurant that had an open table. It's a cozy little restaurant and we were pleasantly surprised. We got the prime rib special and a duck special. The duck came with the most amazing Brussel sprouts I've ever had and the best sweet potato mash. If the duck special was permanently on their menu I might be eating there every week! read more

Came here June 24, 2021 for dinner and decided on being seated outside. Our server was John, and he was extremely efficient and helpful. Only two Cabernets by the glass, but the Hess was a winner. Started with a small shared appetizer the Grilled Caprese, very tasty and paired well w/ the Cab. One entree was the Pan Seared Scallops, which arrived perfectly cooked. I ordered the scallops served on spinach instead of linguine; highly recommend for Keto followers! My wife ordered the Caesar w/ Salmon, unfortunately the salmon had a number of extremely salty bites. John leaped into action and despite not being asking for anything, he removed the salad and promptly brought out a freshly prepared steak bites for my wife. She loved them! Drag brunch was an experience. I like that someone came around with change, as I had not experienced that at other drag shows. The hostess helped me out to be sure my partner and I had accessible seating to accommodate us. It was so crowded we ended up sharing our booth with another couple (more accurately, a pair of friends, as it was 2 straight girls who had no clue what they were doing at a drag show). I did not care for the show hostess, though the other performers were okay. We got our food really quickly, and our server was very attentive. I was impressed with how easily she and the other servers managed to maneuver through such a crowded dining room. I wasn't blown away with the quality of anything I had, but everything was good. With how quickly they have to churn out plates, I guess that's a pretty big feat. Really appreciated that the drinks were strong. But you're having so much fun and drinking, you forget about the food (and that's saying a lot for me b/c it's ALL about the food). I had shrimp and grits. They weren't the best I've ever had, but they were good and filling and there were so many sequins, feather boas and fake boobs flying around....it wasn't about the shrimp and grits. I grew up in Va Beach and Croc's was always one of my favorite places to go, especially when I was of legal drinking age. I went back to VB in September with my boyfriend, so I was very excited to take him to one of my favorite places. We took another couple with us to Croc's and we arrived around 8pm. When we walked in it was dead--like a couple open tables, 2 regulars at the bar, and zero action. I thought I was in the wrong restaurant. My friend Mary, who used to hit Croc's with me back in the day was taken aback too. The host, who I think was probably the manager or owner said it would be about a 30 minute wait for a table...although I did see 2 open tables, but OK, I'm flexible. We sit at the bar and the verrrrryyyyy sloooowwww bartender finally acknowledged us and my friend ordered a mojito, which I was going to order as well. Unlike other bartenders, they can usually take 2-3 orders at a time and then deliver, not this broad. One....at.....a.....time. Seriously?! Wow. We are all hungry and I'm checking the time and it's now been 45 minutes since we arrived. There are still 2 open tables, plus 2 more that have not been cleared. Wow. I catch the host's eyes and he comes up and says our table will be ready shortly. We are sat about 10 minutes later (now pushing 60 minutes). We are quick to order and it takes ANOTHER 45 minutes for our food to arrive. Our food was good, not as good as I remember (maybe it's all this eco-crap?) Anyway, service was mediocre at best. And, the "nightlife" was zip, zero, zilch. Lame-o on a Saturday night. It's sad to see Croc's go from such a hot spot with good food and service to what my friends and I experienced. This is a very darling restaurant during the day and a very intense night club at night. I'm still getting over the surprise at how reasonably priced the drinks were, considering the location. Granted, being from a mountain state, I wasn't ever quite sure where the hell I was and drinking at sea level means you're less sober, quicker! I met the wife of the Lebanese owner and she is absolutely lovely. Together, the both of them are working to make their restaurant more eco-friendly (the menu gives you a taste of how much they've already done) - and you just can't help but smile. I ordered the Seafood Risotto and it was delicious to the very last bite. I'm also officially addicted to the hot, fresh onion bread with the side of melted butter. Our server was particularly friendly and very knowledgeable about her wines - and the sparkling Shiraz recommendation was a delight to my taste buds. Just don't walk out of there saying anything like "Holy damn that was the best f*cking meal I ever had", because swearing isn't allowed in Virginia Beach. When I return to Virginia Beach, I'll definitely make it a point to stop by Croc's. The first Wednesday of every month is an event called "Bourbon, Burgers, & Bingo." It's hosted by a drag queen. The same drag queen that does the "Drag Me To Brunch" shows on Sundays. And it is wildly entertaining. Bingo starts at 6:00 and it lasts til 9pm but it gets super redundant after the first hour and a half, no matter how many jokes the drag queen tells. (He's funny.) The burgers are six bucks for happy hour and really large and tasty. Calamari was the pits. Like seriously bad. The staff was very present and friendly throughout the chaos. You could still order and actively play bingo and not have to wait forever for your food. Also, they hand out a round of free shots. Bourbon and cranberry juice under the guise of some fancy featured cocktail name. I won at bingo, the fourth time we played. Prizes ranged from a Frozen Barbie Princess, to a dart board, to a coffee grinder or a Croc's t-shirt accompanied by a $5 gift certificate. It's fun. And packed to capacity. Plus, Croc's has a small parking lot so if you get there late, you'll be forced to park across the street on some grass. Random. Anyway, this is a great way to spend a Wednesday night if you're looking for something different, and not easily offended. read more
