Very safe operation! Cheris helped us set up an appointment for viewing the slabs in the warehouse and then toured us around. Masks were worn, safe distancing and no other people around when we were there. Cheris was friendly and helpful. She was very knowledgeable and assisted us in decision making. I have dreamt of soapstone countertops for years and we are finally doing our kitchen so I started looking around to see who has them. I went down to Georgetown to look at a few of the the ginormous slab yards down there, thinking they would have what I was looking for. The people working there were nice enough, but once you're out looking at slabs, you're kind of on your own and not able to see anything besides what's on the top of the pile. There were limited samples available to bring home. Additionally, when I asked about the relative hardnesses of a couple of slabs I was considering, all I got was "Soapstone is really soft, its softer than granite and quartz". Yes, I know that, but they range in softness. Totally different story here at Crocodile Rocks. Cheris is AMAZING and happy to pull slabs from the stacks if you are picky like me and looking for that perfect veining. She knows all about the slabs and their relative softness/hardness and has tips on how to maintain them. I also love that it's a smaller, family run business. I have a slab on hold there and am SO excited to see what it looks like in our kitchen. I normally am one to shop around for the best price, but I'm not even getting quotes from the other places as the customer service has me totally sold on Crocodile Rocks. read more

I'm really happy to have such a great place to write my first Yelp review about. We're undertaking a major renovation of an old, unmaintained house. One of the most frustrating aspects of remodeling is that pricing for building materials is often fairly opaque for homeowners. There's the retail price, which doesn't seem to have much to do with what the material actually costs, whether it's tile, plumbing fixtures, lumber, or you name it. Trades people pay some other price, and you never know what that is. That's byzantine enough, but then there's pricing for stone slab countertops and tub decks, which isn't even retail pricing, but rather "we won't tell you at all" pricing. Bring your designer and fabricator along or don't bother looking, or else you're shopping in the dark. But at Crocodile, I was greeted with a smile. They walked me through their large selection of slabs, explained how much everything costs, and got me a sample to take home. It was a pleasure to look at their lovely stone collection, get my questions answered, and the price is significantly lower than at the Georgetown places. Highly recommend. read more

Cheris showed us around the soapstone at Crocodile Rocks. She really knows all about this type of material. However, we ended up getting our soapstone and countertop installation somewhere else. During the install there was a visible line where tape had been used during the epoxy application at the seam. Cheris had told us we could contact her if we ever had any questions, even if we didn't get their soapstone. We emailed her and she advised us that after waxing or oiling it would probably be okay. She was right, after waxing it wasn't noticeable. Cheris exhibited exceptional customer service, she is a diamond in the rough. read more

Our mason suggested looking at this stone yard when we needed a piece for our fireplace renovation. We were looking for an unusually large remnant, but I was hoping to avoid getting a whole slab. Crocodile Rocks had several options and Cheris went out of her way to try to accommodate our needs, telling us the price of each option and even offering to sell us a partial slab if they could find someone to share it with us. It was such a nice change from the other stone yards we'd been to, where they wouldn't tell us anything about pricing, treated us like we were idiots because we didn't know how things "worked", and didn't want to sell anything less than a full slab. The fact that Crocodile was about 1/3 the price of the other stone yards was just gravy. We'll be back when we redo our kitchen in a few years :) read more

I have been to lots of places to look at stone slabs for our upcoming kitchen remodel, and this place has by far the best customer service of ANY of them. Every other place it's like pulling a tooth to get anyone to help you, as if they are doing you a favor just to answer a question or show you their inventory. Cheris (who helped me) actually took me out and showed me all the alternatives for the stone I was interested in. And then went to extra trouble to get a sample that looked as close as possible to the slabs I put on hold. Highly recommend this place if you want to save yourself some time and find some very interesting stone -- I was in and out within a half hour, having found just what I was looking for. read more

They were so helpful when we went to buy a soapstone piece for our modest bar project. She offered to help us find someone to split a slab as we didn't need the entire slab. They are very knowledgeable re soapstone in particular and we actually extended the project to include a long built in table that we are very pleased with. Crocodile Rocks is amazing!! We had a wonderful experience with this company, and, a year after our job was completed, we're still loving our countertops. From the minute we walked in to Crocodile Rocks, Cheris was incredibly helpful, friendly, informative, and thoughtful. She understood her product, she took a lot of time to show us the options that were available, she told us all the ins and outs of each item we were considering, and she patiently allowed us to stroll around the shop to get a feel for each option. We felt talking to Cheris that we were able to make an informed decision about what sort of stone, what sort of edging, what kind of seam layout, etc. It was really a pleasure to work with this family-owned company. After weeks of searching for the perfect white marble, I came across Crocodile Rocks and am so glad I did. I stopped by on a Saturday morning and there were several people in the showroom. Despite the other shoppers, Cheris spent ample time with me answering questions and passing on her knowledge. After almost an hour, I had learned more in that trip than I had collectively at 4 other showrooms. I was brushed off at Pental, and other showrooms did not have the selection of white marble that Crocodile Rocks had. Since Cheris was the only person in the showroom that day, she couldn't pull slabs, but offered to stay late one night the following week to accommodate my work schedule. She and the owner were there to greet me after hours and he pulled slabs and offered me a significant discount for a slab that was slightly damaged (which he pointed out immediately). I feel like I received the most beautiful marble, at the best price, and had amazing, informed customer service. I have been tooting their horn ever since I purchased my marble! Crocodile Rocks has a reputation for carrying beautiful & unique slab directly from Europe. I can always count on them to have the latest, newest, and greatest material in the market. They're very knowledgable and honest about what we should expect in certain materials. My clients and I have a great rapport with the sales team, and they're accommodating in every way. I get quotations and stock availability on the same day which is helpful in my industry. As a designer, I must admit I do shop at other slab warehouses, and as my experience with Crocodile Rocks has always been paramount in comparison to some other slab yards out there. Trust me. In all honestly, stores like working with designers & clients that know what they're doing, or have some direction from their contractor.
