Some of the patches had frayed edges, and we asked to have them tucked under--they did it perfectly. The attention to detail was top-notch. Previously having access to excellent tailors in two of the country's largest cities, I can confidently say this is an excellent choice for your alterations. I was a bit nervous about taking my special occasion maxi dress in to have the bottom altered slightly. My dress has so much fabric and truthfully isn't the easiest to sew. I came in to get some pants hemmed. The seamstress was very impatient while I tired on my pants and decided on the length. She kept rushing me and started to act rude when I took a few minutes to make a decision. I almost walked out because of the way she was treating me, but I decided to leave my pants for the alteration since I was only getting a simple hem. When I came to pick up my pants the ends of the new hem were not completely straight and the stitching was also crooked. Very disappointed with my first experience here and I will not be back. read more

Easy process to go in and get a price. You pay up from. So I got a gown hemmed and it was a reasonable price. It was done quickly.

This is my matron of honor dress I am supposed to wear in my niece's upcoming wedding that I needed hemmed as I am 5"1' and naturally even with heels, most dresses are still too long for me. Totally okay, I just get the dress or jeans or whatever it is hemmed. I took my dress to Croata Design in order to do just that, along with these exact heels, so the exact length could be noted WITH these shoes... and as you can see the dress does not drop to the floor, at all. Even worse, the dress is completely uneven all the way around. And then you can also see the under layer of the dress! The actual dress on the outside is shorter than the layer underneath. All of this being said, I took the dress back to see if there was anything that could be done, and the response I got back was: "I mean, I can try but it's going to look exactly the same." Because I was thinking since I have to wear flats now, at least can I have the bottom of the dress be even? And that's what you tell your customer? You already ruined my dress, didn't listen to anything I wanted done to it (there was also a little bit of a train to the dress!), there was more than enough fabric to work with and it is all just gone! Very, very unhappy with not only my dress but the service/customer service received. I will not be returning and do not recommend this place especially for anything expensive, wedding related, or anything you care about not being completely ruined. So, so sad. read more

I randomly came here for my dress alterations since it was close to my house. I was pretty nervous considering this was for my wedding day but wow it turned out to fit like a glove!!!! I was so happy with the fit! I had a fitting when it was ready which was two weeks after I dropped it off and it just needed some last minute alterations which only took a couple of days and I went in for my last fitting which is where it fit perfectly! We've been using this place for a while - they're fantastic, run by a mother and a daughter. They understand fabric and cuts and style, take exceptional care of clothing, make sure not to compromise the integrity of the garment, can't tell stuff has been altered... basically an endangered species of tailor. Brought in a bunch of stuff and she charged me $15/shirt and $20/jacket. Wife says prices for dresses and so on are also very reasonable. read more

Decided to try this place based on the location (2 mins from my house) and the great reviews. I've had pants hemmed, as well as a bridesmaid dress. They did a great job and turnaround time was sufficient (about 1 week). It's a no frills place, but prices are very fair and work is thorough. The only con is that they have 1 dressing area, so it can get backed up on Saturday. Even still, this is now my go-to place for alterations. read more

Ivka is absolutely amazing. The work she does is phenomenal. She makes custom outfits and suits. I read a comment below about a customer "of color" stating she is racist for saying "men don't like to try things on". SERIOUSLY!!!!! Get a clue! Her comment had nothing to do with race!!!!! I've been going to Ivka since she has been in business (14 years) and she has ALWAYS treated everyone equally regardless of color or race. What I have witnessed is outrageous customers demands, and request to charge less. It's a business! Prices are not up for negotiation but people's sense of entitlement is absolutely insane. I've been using Croata for over 12 years.....I wouldn't consider taking my clothing anywhere else to get tailored. Ivka is incredibly skilled at what she does - she is an artist! I've taken two sentimental pieces to her to have altered. They both came out magnificent, they are hanging on display in my home. She has her prices posted, and they are more than fair! In fact, I've told her that she can/should charge me more as I appreciate the fact that she has overhead, and I value her time/service. She did not charge me more, even when I suggested it. She is realistic with the time that she tells you the piece will be ready to be picked up, she does not over promise-which is amazing. I've seen people bring in bridesmaid dresses which required a complete "overhaul"....it looked as if it would have been easier for Ivka to start from scratch instead of altering the dress. I saw the before and after of this dress, it was incredible. I also overheard how much Ivka was charging, again - - - it was not enough for the labor. Being a "slim" guy sometimes it is hard to find quality clothes that fit well. Small is to small for me and medium is just a little loose. Over the years I have made a few tailors but CROATA design is by far the best tailoring service I have ever used. Several years ago I worked at a Department store selling mens clothing. I had to dress business like and I got a great discount on dress shirts. They never fit well so I brought them to a store over in Central Austin to get fitted. They were very nice but there was a language barrier and the shirts still didn't fit right. At CROATA however they are super nice and friendly and they know how to get my clothes to have the perfect fit. I have brought t shirts, jeans, polos, and dress shirts to this business. They are very affordable and do a superb job. They are family owned and operated and right in the heart of Pflugerville. I highly recommend this business to anyone in the Austin area who needs tailoring done. Whether it is a dress, pants hemmed, slimmer fit, or whatever you may need... This is the best dry cleaners/ alterations place in all of the Austin area AND it's by far the cheapest too! I've brought dry cleaning here 3+ times and my clothes look brand new each time! I've gotten 2 pairs of jeans hemmed as well and can't even tell that they've been altered due to the high quality of workmanship. The stitching in the hem matches the stitching in the rest of the jean EXACTLY. As someone who is tired of overpaying for dry cleaning and subpar alterations in downtown Austin, I will gladly be making the trip to Pflugerville in the future! read more

After a seamstress on 183 and McNeil quoted $96 to take a simple sheath dress in under the arms and hem it, I decided to try Croatia Designs. I am so glad I did! My dress was done on time, fit perfectly and looked awesome. I even have the pictures to prove it as I had to wear it in a wedding. Best of all, it cost a reasonable $32. I asked her what was her normal turn around time after being told that 1 week was very soon, she said 2 weeks...so plan accordingly if you're dropping off here. Whatever you do DO NOT TAKE your wedding dress here!!! This place was recommended to me by a friend but I was very disappointed with the quality of the work. I took my newly purchased wedding dress here to get altered, I needed it hemmed, a bustle, and a corset added. The bottom portion of the dress was cut crooked and it was way to long. The worse part was the corset.... it was not cut properly, there was no shape to it, and the laces were too thick. I had to take the dress back a second time to get it shortened again and raise the bustle. The bustle was very sloppy and the hook front and center. I should of trusted my gut instinct with this place... All of this cost me $150 and I was forced to take my dress to another dress alteration place. Thankfully the new alterations place did a wonderful job and made my dress look beautiful again. read more

For men, be careful as they may not have enough experience to do men's suits and jackets. I took a 500 dollar sports jacket to them to have the sleeves adjusted. I asked specifically if they could shorten the length from the shoulder so to save the unique look of the buttons and the cut of the sleeve. I was told it couldn't be done but that i could lose a couple of the buttons and it'd be fine. When I picked the jacket up they had just folded all the button holes under the sleeve and moved the buttons up to be pseudo buttons that were non-functional. It looked really amateurish and completely went against all that I had asked for. I was nice, said goodbye and immediately took the jacket to another tailor. He asked "who did this and why?". He fixed the length of the jacket from the shoulder, like I asked, but a crease and damage was done to the jacket by the original modification at Croata. So now the length is right but I have permanent damage to a gorgeous jacket. These ladies are sweet and nice. They probably do a fantastic job on most of what they do. Just be very careful as they permanently damaged my jacket through poor work and I'm out 500 bucks (plus 2 tailor jobs). read more

Great service! I went in to get a pair of Boy Scout pants hemmed (they are sold super long and unfinished on purpose) and I called ahead to ask about their pricing and service. They were familiar with this very specific style of fabric and pant (and what I was looking for), and even though I had already measured the length I needed, they verified the measurement for the extra peace of mind. The turnaround was also quick- just two business days, no rush needed. Price was reasonable as well. All in all, great all around, and the finished product looks and fits perfectly. read more

I was recommended Croata from the bridesmaid store I purchased my dress from. The turn around time was quick, a week. However, I am extremely unsatisfied with how the dress was completed. She was to hem it -- the length is fine on the hem but the chiffon overlay is shorter than the underlay in the front. Which does not look so great and also warrants no fix other than to make it shorter which isn't an option. She was to let the hips out -- she let the hips out and the bust (which wasn't needed). So now I'm left with a dress that is 1-2" too big in the bust area. On top of this, I wasn't offered to try it on once the alterations were complete at pick up which should have been my first sign. And then I was made aware that she didn't charge me for hemming the dress because she "forgot" to write it on the ticket when I dropped it off. She gave me a $10 discount for the mishap but I still "owed" $35 additional dollars in addition to the $35 I had already paid. $70 for a poor quality job wouldn't be my recommendation in the future. read more

I needed one of my pants to be altered and based on the reviews I thought I will give them a try. Pros: Pants were returned on the promised date (Gave One star for this) Cons: 1) Customer service was bad, the lady was very rude. She doesn't know how to talk with customers. 2) I gave them a brand new pant which had tags (Which I have never worn before). I asked them to taper and hem my pants, I got the pant on the promised date and tried it on after going home. There was a hole on the side seams. So I took it back and told them that I noticed a hole (I even told her that I'm not trying to blame you but its a brand new pant and I didn't see this before). Then she became very defensive and said "do you think I don't have any other work other than making a hole on your pants?" Then she looked at it and said oh yes looks like the machine jumped and I missed to stitch this portion and she fixed it (Gave second star for admitting and fixing the problem). Overall I wouldn't return to Croata Design for any of my alteration needs. read more

This family does a great job! My sister and I have both had our wedding dresses altered here and I have taken some of my scrubs to be altered and they have been quick and VERY reasonable. I had to get my wedding dress altered 40 days before the wedding and she was happy to accommodate for me. I'm also particularly petite so it has always been a struggle to get clothing to fit me, but with their help, I have had a lot more success! I've been here twice. I'm absolutely delighted with them. The first time I went in, I had a dress that needed fixing but more important I needed a soft sleeve strap for my service dog's harness. The harness was new and entirely too rough; it was rubbing his stomach raw! They stopped what they were doing and made him a strap right then and there. I was so very grateful! The second time I went in, I took a coat that I had bought online which was entirely too huge for me. I decided it would be too much trouble to send it back and wanted them to fix it. Not only did she fix it, but she wouldn't let me bully her into changing the shape of the coat because it would make the coat look wrong. They're prices are very reasonable ~ it was only $85 to fix the coat and I was prepared to pay $150 because the alterations were so extensive. I'll definitely be back! I needed a bridesmaid dress hemmed, and everyone on Facebook recommended Croata, so I gave them a shot. The measurement took almost no time at all, and I was told that I could come pick up my dress in a week, and was asked to pay in advance. I had a backup dress in case it didn't work out, so I was fine with that. I was busy hosting my friend's bachelorette party on the day that the dress was ready, so I figured I would go get it the next day. The next day rolled around, and by the time I was ready to get my dress, I realized that Croata closes earlier on Saturdays than other days, so I'd missed my chance to pick up the dress, and they were closed on Sunday (the day of the wedding - eek!). I wasn't too worried since I had my backup dress, but I didn't like the backup nearly as much as the one that I was having hemmed, so I took a shot in the dark and emailed the address on Croata's website. Sunday morning, I go to the venue with my backup dress, resigned to the fact that I wouldn't be seeing my nicely hemmed dress that day, when I got a phone call from Ivka, the owner. She said that she just so happened to read her email that morning and saw my (desperate) plea and said that she would be happy to meet my boyfriend at the shop so he could get my dress and bring it to the venue. She said she pretty much never checks the shop's email when she's not working, so I know that I got incredibly lucky. I was so appreciative that she took time out of her day off to help me resolve a mistake that was 100% my fault. The dress turned out beautifully, and she's made a returning customer out of me, for sure. read more
