I can't speak for complex alterations but for a pants hemming they were able to complete the job in just about a week compared to other places which quoted me greater than this. I was recommended this shop by a friend when the one near my house closed. They have done several small jobs for me and are always professional and courteous, and the work is great. In my opionion, it is very affordable. I just dropped off a down ski coat that had a small hole in the underarm and they only charged me $10. I have used this business for a few alterations before and they've done a good job. But really I wanted to drop a review today because I was really struck by their kindness. I have a couple new masks I picked up to combat the COVID crisis and they didn't fit quite right. I dropped in to have them throw a couple simple (for them, not me) stitches on the ear loops to tighten them up. They jumped on it, threw the masks on the sewing machines, and bam! Done. They didn't even charge me anything to do it. A huge act of kindness for 2 minutes worth of work and it meant the world. Great job, y'all! read more

She completely ruined my favorite pair of jeans. I have a smaller waist and usually just have to wear a belt all the time to keep them up. I've had these jeans for a while but I finally decided to get the waist made smaller to fit better. Instead of only changing the waist she went all the way down the butt area and cut off fabric. They are completely deformed and other tailors have told me that there is nothing they can do. $150 pants I can never wear again... Plus I paid her $30 to ruin them... read more

I needed a couple pairs of slacks altered and a zipper replacement. Dropped it off on a Saturday and was told that they would be ready the following Saturday. This was my first time using Sew & So and I have to say I was very impressed. She was quick with the measurements and both pairs of slacks are perfect length now. I even dropped off a new pair of slacks that I had to buy longer than my size due to inventory. Can't wait to get them back on Saturday. I will recommend this place to anyone I know that needs alterations to their clothing. read more

I know that not every customer experience is going to be top notch. Even the best companies experience hiccups. When that happens, they put things right. I really hate to say this, but that hasn't happened here. I brought in a pair of jeans to get altered. The measurements were taken and the length looked perfect. I asked for an original finish (the gold thread to match the rest of the stitching) and headed out the door. Three other pairs of dress slacks were also left for alterations. When they were ready, I picked them up and ran back to work. When I tried on the jeans, they were way too long - not as long as when I bought them, but about two inches longer than where they were originally marked. They slipped under the heal of my shoes. No bueno. Also, no original finish as requested. I brought them back and asked them to fix them. New measurements were taken and I dropped off another three pairs of dress slacks. When I picked up the order, everything seemed fine. I tried them on before I left, and all was well. The dress slacks were fine. I paid for the order and headed out the door. The problem? I didn't notice until later that night that I had been charged again for the jeans. And about a week later, the hem came out of of not one but two of the pairs of slacks. I'm concerned about bringing the pants back, since the track record for me so far isn't great. If they can't do a simple hem for me, I'm moving on. Not standing by the quality of their work? I don't know about that; they seem to have great ratings on the other reviews. It's just been my experience that they haven't for me. read more

Guy Review - My wife uses Sew & So all the time, and I will get her to write a review with all the alteration details. FOR THE HUSBANDS - The lady who runs this place is magical with what she can do. Over the past 8 years she has altered at least 10 items a year for my family. So that is 80 items that kept on being worn and enjoyed (and not replaced). We also do not hesitate to buy new clothes that "almost" fit perfectly. We know exactly where it take them to create that fitted look. This place is no So-So, it's perfection! read more

I was really hoping to like this place. I had my Matron of Honor dress hemmed here, which was a jersey knit. Due to the nature of the fabric it essentially just needed to be cut. I tried it on at home, and to my dismay it smelled like cigarette smoke!! It's a brand new dress, never been worn before. Even my husband was so bothered by this he immediately called to complain. The owner denied that they smoked in the store, but not that they smoked. Clearly if they did it out the back door with the door open, and had smoke on their hands while they worked, it's going to get on the clothes in the store. The owner did not offer a refund, nor to have it cleaned. It's a beautiful, delicate dress, and now i have to figure out how to make sure I don't smell like an ash tray at my friend's wedding. read more

I went to this shop based on a recommendation from a coworker and have been extremely pleased with all of the work they've done. So, far "all of the work" has been hemming slacks and jeans, but I'm still pleased. The hems are even, haven't fallen out, and are exactly the length I expect them to be. It's shocking how difficult it has been to find a tailor that can properly hem pants! Price-wise, I think they're right on par at $11 per pair. Each time I've gone in, I've taken in 6-8 pairs of pants, and their turnaround time was a week in both instances. I'm sure they provide an expedited service, but I haven't felt it necessary to ask for it. The two women at the shop are always pleasant and attentive, the dressing rooms are large and clean and have doors that actually close, rather than a flimsy curtain that offers a peep show to other customers. The ONLY reason I don't give them 5 stars is because I haven't yet had anything requiring a major alteration, but they'll be my first choice of places to go when I do. If you have something in need of fixin', give them a try! read more

I stopped in with two dresses that needed broken zippers replaced. After being quoted $22 for one zipper, and $18 for the either, I declined their services. $40 to replace 2 zippers is much too high when there is nothing difficult about the material or location of the zippers. read more

I had two pair of jeans hemmed. The length was sewn as I specified, as was the band size (one pair of jeans had a very wide band on the hem, which I wanted to keep the styling).
