I had only gone to one alteration place in austin and I just needed a simple dress hemming. Let's just say... the alterations were more expensive than the dress itself. I found Fatimas through a recommendation and went to her to get a bridesmaids dress altered. And the dress was already too small pre pandemic and I needed the dress for several months into the pandemic. Needless to say, At that point I think the dress was probably 3 sizes too small and wouldn't even come close to zipping. I had no clue what to do and I brought it to Fatima and she said "anything is possible" lol and the dress fit BEAUTIFULLY. I don't even know what she did or how she did it and I honestly don't care and she did it for less than my friend paid for a hemming at David's bridal. My boyfriend had two pair of shorts that needed a patch (which I previously purchased and let them use) and one that needed the string rethreaded through. I dropped them off on the 1st of April. I was told it would be ready the next day. Next day came and went. The following day came and went. On April 6th I called because I still had not heard anything. The lady on the phone said " I'm so sorry I'm not there right now but I can call you on Saturday to let you know." I said ok. Saturday came and went with no phone call. Finally, on April 10th, I went back to the store in person to get the shorts. I get there, takes her a few minutes to find the shorts- I'm so sorry- I have not started on them but I can have them done by 4pm. It's 12 so that should have gave me some kind of red flag. I go back at 4. Shorts are done. She charges me $24- even though I bought the patch and it took them 10 days to do it. Whatever, I paid it. I get home to find that they never rethreaded the draw string- they instead just stuffed it in the other side and just sewed it in. So now it's a full circle and not a draw string. BEWARE OF THIS BUSINESS. This was completely unacceptable. read more

I always wondered when I'd have a go-to Tailor in life as I'd hear my parents and friends parents have one. Somehow we got lucky enough that Fatima's exists on our road! I took a pant jumper to her once and she hemmed it quite literally to perfection. THEN I took her my wedding dress - she knows her stuff. She drew her lines quickly, pinned the underskirt and that was that. Her pricing and turnaround time is probably unbeatable in the austin area. If I could give 100 stars I would, this woman is a master at her work . I came in with my wedding gown (black with intricate beading a sheer fabric and a lace up corset back I needed to keep ) her store was so cute with her plants and little pup in tow . She was very kind and friendly to me asked me specifically what I wanted and how it would look , she went over different alteration methods with me to make sure it was exactly the way I needed it to fit . I knew from calling around other places that this would've been expensive but she did not charge me even close to others around the area and outside of it. I got my dress back very quickly and was ecstatic to see how amazing she did . She had multiple customers with varying needs like shorts jackets dresses pants . Consistently, items are not completed by the time she promised. When you return in two weeks she asks you to come back. I have not only experienced this myself but have watched it happen with others. Now.... I dropped off a pair of suit slacks for repair that she had already tailored and came apart and a shirt. When I went back she couldn't find my clothes. I personally had to go through her entire shop looking for my items. When I left she promised a return call. Two weeks later and still no call. I will be presenting her with a bill this weekend. After reading great reviews online, I visited Fatima's today to get a few blouses taken in. Soon after I walked in and began explaining what I'd like done, Fatima asked if I was Indian. When I responded yes, she informed me that she "does not take Indian customers." ..........What!? In the moments that she left me shocked and speechless, Fatima went on and on about how Indian customers expect too much and never pay, so she's told her staff "no more Indian customers!" Fatima may be a great seamstress, but she is a very unfortunate human being. Fatima is seriously the best!! She is VERY detailed and very intricate on what needs to be done for the dress to fit you best. I took a long ($600) evening gown and she was so careful with it and made it fit my body perfectly. I got a little more top heavy over the years so my zipper would not go all the way. She altered it to fit my body like a GLOVE!! She even modified it a little around the waist to make me look like an hourglass! (Yay!!!) Scene: Sunday, rainy, 3:30 pm, driving home from San Marcos Ring Ring.... (woman picks up) Woman: "Yello" Me: "Hi, I need a pair of suit pants hemmed before my husband leaves town on Tuesday. Do you have the availability to do that and if so, what time could we come tomorrow?" Woman: "I can do today, come to this address at 5pm and I will get it done for you." (stunned, can not speak, in disbelief, agrees, hangs up) I arrive on time to her home sewing studio which is legit. Full on professional set up. And I know this because I'm a fashion design major and a sewing paraphenalia snob. She quickly measures my husbands fancy new Hugo Boss suit pants and we think we are going to leave to pick them up tomorrow and she says "No, sit, I'll have this done for you in ten minutes" And then, like a wizard with some kind of phantom hands, whips out the most professional hem on a pair of pants you've ever seen. All while telling you funny stories and entertaining you so that ten minutes really feels like a 30 second slap chop infomercial. and BAM! all of a sudden, Fatima erases all the fear you had about walking into a meeting on Tuesday with CIOs in frayed pants...and all for the bargain price of $10. Who is this angel? Now only someone who is really on the naughty list would have paid her the $10. I highly suggest when people work miracles like this you at least pay them double. Because if she really is an angel, God is totally going to give you bonus points for hooking his angel up with fat cash too. We have found our new tailor seamstress extraordinaire. Fatima was a Nordstom and Neiman's seamstress and now operates her own shop. She does impeccable work. I took in a dress and a few other things that needed to be hemmed. I totally forgot that the dress' straps were too long and I had them pinned. Well they aren't pinned anymore. Fatima fixed them beautifully and didn't even charge me. Her pricing is great and she's quick with her work. I wanted to add my experience today with this place. I called Fatima to see if I could make an appointment today to alter my wedding dress. She asked for my name and I gave it to her. She repeated something else and I responded that I couldn't understand as my phone was cutting out. She kept pushing if I had a dress to which I said Yes. I'm assuming there was a lot of miscommunication because she then started yelling at me that she "didn't have my dress." I told her I was coming from Cedar Park and I HAD my dress. I just wanted to see if she had availability. Again the phone was cutting out. I apologized and asked if I could call her back, but she kept going. She repeatedly started saying if I was in Cedar Park to not come to Austin. She kept saying that she wasn't in Cedar Park, which I knew, and that I shouldn't come. It was completely confusing as I told her I would be more than happy to DRIVE over to her. She then kept yelling back that she didn't have my dress and that I wasn't "listening to her". She ended by saying I was a "stupid/silly girl" and then hung up. This was the most baffling experience I have ever had. I couldn't understand why she was so aggressive about me trying to schedule for my dress to be altered. I called her back and let her know how completely rude and ridiculous this was. The second I was able to have her STOP TALKING and explain - she wanted me to come to her shop. I let her know that I would not be coming and I would make sure the girls I had initially planned on sending over would also not be going. I'm incredibly disappointed. I saw her rave reviews and was so excited to start this process. It could have been an off day - but that is no excuse. You don't speak to potential customers that way. Fatima does an amazing job. I'm 5'8" 160lbs, 31 waist. It is next to impossible to find dress shirts that fit my chest without a ridiculous amount of blousing. Tailored slim fit shirts that fit my chest blouse way too much. If I go a size down to avoid blousing, the buttons at my chest strain and the shirt looks even more ridiculous. I brought her a medium shirt that fits my chest and a small that fits my waist and arms. I asked if she could tailor the arms and waist area of the medium shirt the same size as the small. I tried this at an alteration place at the mall and the lady said 1) the shirt looks fine on me and 2) ok, we'll add some darts and charge you $40. Fatima said she could do it, showed me how she would do it (properly, without darting it), and said the price would be fair. I agreed and also brought her a suit jacket to shorten, and a pair of jeans to hem. When I got the items back they were perfect. They were exactly what I wanted and you can't tell they were tailored. The stitching is flawless and the price was more than fair for the work she did. I'm going to attempt to add a photo of an unaltered shirt the same size/brand/style (it's the exact same shirt in a different color) as the one she tailored so you can see for yourself. I seriously adore Fatima. She took my mis-sized bridesmaid dress and made it fit me like a glove. I'm 4'10 and busty and she somehow made that dress completely customized for me, at a fraction of the price of the competitors. Do not confuse this location for another alterations place that is terrible in Cedar Park. This is not the same place! If I could I wouldn't even give a one star. Are used Fatima a few months back and she TRIED to charge me almost $300 for a handful of dresses that only needed an inch or two taken up. After her own staff told me in private that she was taking advantage of me and to ask for a lower price I then negotiated about half of the price with Fatima! Skipping a few months forward my daughter has an event and last minute her dress needed alterations. I couldn't find anyone to get it done in a couple of days so reluctantly I went with Phat my thinking no problem it's one dress and its an easy alteration. The event is Sunday. I called Friday since I hadn't heard from the store and the dress is ready. They said they opened at 10am on Saturday morning. I am still here waiting!!! The time is 10:20am and the store is still closed. I have a tight schedule and getting back here later today seems almost impossible and my daughters event is Sunday, tomorrow and they are closed! I will not use her ever again. I tried giving her a second chance and it is coming back to bite me! If you don't want to be taken advantage of and if you want your items back when needed and if you expect an establishment to be open when their sign says, when they say over the phone then DON'T USE THIS ESTABLISHMENT. I knew it would be super simple and quick so didn't want to take it to my normal place bc the lady there charges insane prices. However, it is close to my work and therefore I will often go somewhere repeatedly (even tho they ream me on pricing) bc of location. Back to Fatima. She is fairly close to me. I walk in, get fitted and she asks if I wanted to wait while she took care of it. I was stoked bc I was worried I wouldn't get it back in time for the weekend. I chose to come back. She didn't take my name and I didn't ask for a price. I came back the next day, she remembered my garment, & didn't charge me a cent. She has me for life, this one. read more

To the Klan members complaining about how impossible it is to understand her, it's because she's Brazilian and thus speaks Portuguese, hence why the "multiple Spanish speakers" you brought with you couldn't understand her. If you took five seconds to talk to her you would have gathered that information. I just took seven pairs of Ann Taylor/Banana Republic slacks/jeans to be hemmed and she did a flawless job. Seams matched the factory perfectly. Very warm, sweet lady. Her price was fair and I wrote it down and showed her to make sure I understood before I left the clothes with her. What legitimate business doesn't like talking about prices until you show up and have them measure clothing? Seems unfair and a bias way of pricing services for customers. Unfortunately like many people I don't have the luxury of driving tailor to tailor, trying on and getting clothing measures to get quotes. Instead, I call businesses and ask about pricing and methods of alteration so I can limit where I want to take my business. This shop lost my business since the lady cannot provide pricing over the phone, all the while being completely snappy and rude about answering my natural questions. read more

Very nice ladies but I think they have too much business and things are rushed. I had to take my dress back twice - hem was reversed with seem on outside and 1/2 inch difference from one side to another. Make sure the alterations are finished properly. MS. Fatima fixed everything but I'm just super picky and want it done right the first time. Pants were hemmed perfect with no problems so I gave them a 3 being more average. read more

I left Fatima's today and wondered exactly why I was charged $117 for a prom dress alteration. An alteration that I wasn't given an estimate on, even though I asked. An alteration that was supposed to be done Monday and I had been instructed to call the morning of that Monday to check. They indicated it would be Tuesday before it was ready. We went Tuesday around 4 and they indicated it would be another hour. Since we didn't have time to return to the shop then, we indicated we would pick it up Wednesday. When I called Wednesday around 4:30, they asked for another 45 minutes (again, which I did not have). We show up Thursday. The dress is ready! But the hem is crooked. Not slightly crooked...obviously crooked - as in one shoes shows more than the other. After having to return again on Friday since the hem had to be fixed, I was charged $117. For 5 days of wasted trips, calls to the store and a crooked hem. When I asked about a discount for the inconveniences, I was told they would knock off the taxes if I paid in cash. Never again will I go there. And if you are getting prom dresses altered there.. check it before you leave! read more

Most recently I had a jacket that was passed down to me from my wife's grandfather altered and Fatima did beautiful work. It was about 4 sizes too big and she made it look like a custom jacket, just for me.
