    Brandy C.

Fatima was fantastic...and her little dog too! By far the best price for wedding dress alterations, and she makes you feel so good in it! She hemmed the front of my dress and added multiple bustles for my train. Another tailor asked me to pay $600+ for the same work that Fatima did for $160, plus she did it way faster! Highly recommended!

The draw string had been pulled out of one side so they just tucked it in the hole and sewed it in. $24- I don't think so.

My boyfriend had two pair of shorts that needed a patch (which I previously purchased and let them use) and one that needed the string rethreaded through. I dropped them off on the 1st of April. I was told it would be ready the next day. Next day came and went. The following day came and went. On April 6th I called because I still had not heard anything. The lady on the phone said " I'm so sorry I'm not there right now but I can call you on Saturday to let you know." I said ok. Saturday came and went with no phone call. Finally, on April 10th, I went back to the store in person to get the shorts. I get there, takes her a few minutes to find the shorts- I'm so sorry- I have not started on them but I can have them done by 4pm. It's 12 so that should have gave me some kind of red flag. I go back at 4. Shorts are done. She charges me $24- even though I bought the patch and it took them 10 days to do it. Whatever, I paid it. I get home to find that they never rethreaded the draw string- they instead just stuffed it in the other side and just sewed it in. So now it's a full circle and not a draw string. BEWARE OF THIS BUSINESS. This was completely unacceptable.

Here's a picture of the back where the alterations were made. She kept the beading, the lace down the back and installed a new zipper too

If I could give 100 stars I would, this woman is a master at her work . I came in with my wedding gown (black with intricate beading a sheer fabric and a lace up corset back I needed to keep ) her store was so cute with her plants and little pup in tow . She was very kind and friendly to me asked me specifically what I wanted and how it would look , she went over different alteration methods with me to make sure it was exactly the way I needed it to fit . I knew from calling around other places that this would've been expensive but she did not charge me even close to others around the area and outside of it. I got my dress back very quickly and was ecstatic to see how amazing she did . She had multiple customers with varying needs like shorts jackets dresses pants . I would 100% recommend Fatima's Alterations !!!!! (And her little puppy is amazing and adorable)

I took my wedding dress to fatima. It needed a lot of alterations! She made my day one to remember with the best dress.

Says so right on the giant window cling at the front of the store, which faces a Dollar General and Big Lots in the faded strip center that time forgot - same dingy block where Asia Market and Ann's Kitchen Cakes are located. I had snagged an awesome pair of fancy Penguin brand jeans at Ross, original MSRP $128, Ross bargain price $19.99. Yay for bargains! The fit was fantastic, but as with most designer jeans on my 62 inch frame, the length was about 10 inches too long. If only clothing makers would realize that most human females are not built like the specimens on America's Next Top Model.... It took Alterations to Go only 2 days to complete my job, and that was on a holiday week. I asked that the original "designer" hem be replicated and was promised that it would be, but when I went to pickup the pants, a wrong colored thread had been used. I pointed this out to the tailor/manager (who was not the same person I spoke to when dropping off); he apologized and offered to replace the thread with one that was close to the original, as they did not have that exact color in jean-strength thread. The jeans were ready within 24 hours and the hem looked great. Even though I had to wait an additional day, I will use ATG again & recommend them to petite friends for hem work. The customer service response to my problem was excellent and the $8 price can't be beat. Just know that you have to be sure to check the work when you pickup, and don't be afraid to ask for a do over if you don't like the work the first time around.

I went to a location in North Austin, and they wanted to charge me more than half the cost of my dress for alternations. Besides the high cost, there was a lack of professionalism, and that's the main reason why I wanted a second opinion. Brandy came recommended by the bridal shop that I purchased my dress from. Her studio is at her residence, which was very warm and inviting! First impressions are very important, and she put a lot of love and hard work into the studio. Brandy is very personable, sweet, and she advised me all the steps she would be taking to alter my dress. Her fees are reasonable, she provided with a detailed receipt. After just one visit, I didn't waste any time and referred a friend of mine. On my wedding day my dress fit like a glove, it was so perfect! I felt beautiful and my husband loveddddd the dress as well. Thank you Brandy for making me feel extra special!

I always get holes in the knees of my jeans, which didn't matter until I started buying more expensive jeans. I'd get maybe one pair a year which would typically last longer. But they'd still eventually wear out and get holes in the knees. My wife eventually asked me to throw them out, but I discovered this place which went to heroic lengths to patch up anything. The results looked kind of messy but also cool. That was all well and good. But for the past two years I've taken exceedingly good care of the last pair of jeans I bought. For instance, I always make sure to pull them up to add some slack to the knees when I sit down so I won't stress the fabric there. In spite of my efforts the other day I noticed a very tiny hole had started to form (not even big enough to stick my finger through). I decided to be proactive about it and take them to Velma's before the problem got worse. They say a stitch in time saves nine, right? I'm crestfallen because for some reason Vilma's Tailor Shop sewed giant patches in BOTH knees of these otherwise perfect looking jeans (tangent: to be fair there was a knick- but not quite a hole - around the other knee; however I didn't ask them to fix that problem at all!). There's now this noticeable line of stitches in a boring 10x6 inch box pattern on the outside that make the jeans look weird, like I had them bedazzled. That's always a risk of patching up jeans, but I didn't ask for a patch in them at all- I just wanted a simple stitch! I also got a previous pair fixed and some of the patches were smaller- like 6 x 3.5 inches. So if they could've used a smaller patch, why didn't they? These were easily my favorite pair of jeans and now they look so stupid. I don't have the money to buy a new pair right now but that's all I've been able to think about since returning home. I don't understand why a tiny problem had to be addressed with a huge alteration. It's not intuitive. However they don't have great English skills here and I'm wondering if maybe when I was warned and accepted this somehow so its on me. I tried very hard to talk with her to just let her know I was disappointed, but it was impossible to communicate the subtleties even with the help of Google translate. I'm only knocking one star off my review because I feel like good people are working here and they try their best, and this was mostly a communication problem. I can't help but feel responsible because I dropped them off and had issues communicating in the first place. In hindsight I never should have handed them my best pair of jeans but did because I'd had good experiences in the past and didn't think they'd do something so bizarre . If you've read my warnings and follow them it will be a five star experience.
