RUN AWAY from Crooked Critters! $310 for grooming a 23lb Wheaten who was not rescued from an oil spill???? My review was taken down. Wonder how that happened. So here it is again. I dropped off my 23 lb Wheaten (regularly groomed) to be groomed before Christmas. A hour later I get a call from the owner saying that my dog's legs needed brushing out (yes, that's why she is at a groomer). LInda said it would be $80 for EACH leg, plus $150 for the grooming for a total of $310. She said they had already started grooming her and I would have to agree to the price before they continued. I said stop! I will not be a party to your EXTORTION. Picked up my dog with her butt and girl parts all shaved, like she had just had a brazilian. My friend had been going here for years, recommended me, and is mortified by how we were treated. She lost a new customer and a lifelong one. Penny wise, dollar foolish. read more

The folks at Critter Clipperl clearly love dogs and enjoy giving great service to you and your pet. We've been taking our standard poodle to CC since we moved to the area in 2001. She comes home looking great and the experience is always pleasant and top-drawer for me. Pricing might be considered steep by some, but I've never once thought about the value I receive from Critter Clipper. These people take you, your pet, and their business very seriously. read more

I have a 10 month old golden doodle who is a very challenging dog to groom (she's white and she can be fussy). They did a great job. Definitely expensive, so expect that, but very kind and courteous staff, very knowledgeable. They did a great job with my dog. I think it's worth the extra money. Hard to get an appointment though -- better to call a couple of weeks in advance. read more

I've been taking my dog to Critter Clippers for almost four years now. Everyone on staff there is so nice, and they do a great job washing him and cutting his hair. He's not a friendly dog, but he actually likes going there and has no problem with being groomed there. I still take him there even though I moved to SF. I tried this place out based on a recommendation from a co-workers since they had their shih tzu coming here for a years so I decided to try them out. The groomer did a good job with my shih tzu, as good as the Pet Smart in Mountain View or San Jose but they charge double the price. I had both my dogs groomed and the total came out to be $200 without tip. This place does a great job but not affordable for me since I groom my dogs about every 8-10 weeks. read more

My pekingese needed the works: bath, dematting, clip, nails. Rosemary did a wonderful job. Twinkie had a great time being pampered, she was done when they said she would be, and the price was very fair, especially considering how matted she was. She even came home with bows on her ears. I have no complaints with the quality of the haircut or the cleanliness of the place. The personnel were friendly and pleasant. The cost, however, was outrageous and prohibitive. No need to charge so much for a canine shampoo, haircut, and blow dry for a small dog. This pretentious salon is overly impressed with itself! Although I am pleased with the haircut, I will not go back. If you do decide to patronize this boutique doggie salon, be sure to get the costs up front. read more

Our matted cat had to be shaved. Critter Clipper's staff treated our kitty so lovingly, and what could have been a traumatic event, wasn't! He didn't need to be sedated, as he would have been if we'd gone with a vet. Our cat is so active now that his mats are gone, and I know if the need arrises for another shave, we'll be back. They were fast, efficient, caring, and accommodating. They were also upfront in giving me a price range, and though it was a bit more than I'd hoped, their estimate was right on. read more

I've been taking my cat there for several years. There is one lady there who grooms him regularly. She is a sweetheart and clearly loves animals. Everyone there is really nice and mellow. You can see the grooming area out front. My cat is very shy and easily scared. But when I pick him up at Critter Clippers, he is perky and seems really happy to have been groomed. Prices are high but worth it when kitty comes home all happy and smelling nice. read more

Critter Clippers has been nothing but grerat with my dog. I have a Siberian Husky who needs a lot of grooming and the occasional trim in the Spring and Summer because she gets sooo hot with all of that fur. When they trim her they do such a good job that she actually still looks like a Husky, unlike some of the PetCos and PetSmarts who had completely buthcered her. I don't mind paying a little more to have my dog look normal. read more

From the moment I stepped into this amazing doggie day spa, I knew it was the right place to bring my animals. I've had my fair share of bad groomer's in the past, but this place is top notch. Everyone on their staff is extremely knowledgeable, very friendly, and wonderful with the animals. They've taken care of my animals better than any place I've ever tried before, and I couldn't ask for a more inviting place as a customer. Every time I get my animals back they always look amazing and are very happy to have spent quality time at the spa. They've even got a great new boutique section with some excellent gift idea's for the holiday's coming up! From shampoo's to leashes to toy's, they've got something for every puppy and kitty out there. I had been here twice before with varying results, but this last time was the last straw. This is the first review I've written on Yelp because I just can't believe what happened. I brought in my dog who had some matting around her shoulders. After dropping her off around noon, I didn't get a call until almost an hour later to say they needed to shave her because of the matting. When asked if that was necessary, they suggested I could get my dog and bring her back in a few hours after I had tried to get the mats out myself. I took their suggestion to shave her, thinking this would be best for the dog and of a simliar length they did a previous time. Oh no... 5 hours later, she was shaved down to almost the skin all over. It appeared she had razor burn and she was super traumatized. It's been days now and she is still not back to herself. A follow up call provided absolutely no remorse but an acknowledgment of we thought you'd be upset. No kidding... I will never ever use them again and highly recommend that others who expect friendly service and a happy pup do not use them either. read more
