We enjoyed a delicious lunch of two of their delicious sandwiches, that were every bit as satisfying as the ambiance. But the star of the show? The croissants. Their large croissants are genuinely the best I have ever eaten--flaky, buttery perfection. I'm planning to pick up a dozen for Thanksgiving today because they're just that good. The space is roomy with couches in the back, and plenty of people were working or studying, so it has a relaxed, productive vibe. I tried their lavender latte, oat milk latte (extra hot), and of course their drip coffee because you cannot judge a coffee shop without trying the drip. The drip was excellent, rich, well balanced, and tasted very fresh, clearly brewed fresh. The latte was just as good, creamy with proper foam and a smooth lavender flavor that did not overpower the coffee. The only small hiccup was that we were told the drinks would be brought to our table, but after waiting a bit I went up to grab them myself. I may have misheard, so it was not a big deal. Overall a great experience, comfortable atmosphere, plenty of seating, and genuinely solid coffee. I stopped in after lunch this time but will definitely be back to try their food next time.

They also shared that the employee helping me was in her first week, which gave helpful context to the situation. As a kind gesture, they sent me a $10 gift card, which I thought was very thoughtful. When I came back in to use it, they recognized my name from the situation and took the time to talk with me in person and explain everything again. That really meant a lot and showed how much they care about their customers. Customer service and communication go a long way, and I'm grateful for the way they handled everything. I'm looking forward to continuing to support them. Old review: Melby's has really great drinks and the atmosphere is honestly one of the reasons I keep going back. It's a cozy spot and the coffee itself is consistently good. That said, the customer service can be hit or miss. The employees often come across as a bit unpleasant, which takes away from the experience. One thing that's especially frustrating is their refusal to allow personal cups. Almost every other coffee shop I visit is happy to accommodate this, and it doesn't require much effort, many places simply set the cup on the counter and pour the drink without even touching it. It's a small thing, but it makes a difference for customers who are trying to reduce waste or just prefer using their own cup. I really do like Melby's drinks and vibe, but improving the customer service and being a little more flexible with simple requests like personal cups would make the experience much better.

My girlfriend and I were seated and greeted by a young server with dark hair and a European accent. Shortly after sitting down, we noticed our table had not been properly cleaned. However, after receiving our food, we discovered that our utensils were extremely dirty, as if they had not been washed at all. We informed the server, and she replaced them with clean silverware. Later, another server checked on us and mentioned that our original server had gone home for the day. This was confusing, as about 30 minutes later we saw her still working and cleaning tables. This inconsistency added to our concern about the level of service. Additionally, the overall cleanliness of the restaurant was quite poor. The floors appeared dirty, and the environment did not feel well-maintained. Overall, this experience fell far below expectations. Based on this visit, we do not plan to return. I hope you take this feedback seriously and address these issues with your staff and cleanliness standards.
