1000% our favorite place to get fried chicken in Chicago!! The jumbo wings are a must-try! You can now order for pick-up or delivery. Even before the pandemic, we would typically order carry out since the seating is fairly packed and limited. Bear in mind that your transportation time will impact any food from any restaurant, but I think Crisp Korean fried chicken wings are delicious immediately, after a 20 min drive, or even as leftovers the next day! Our go-to order is 10 jumbo wings split between the Seoul Sassy and Crisp BBQ sauces. I love the green onions that are sprinkled on the Seoul Sassy wings - they add the perfect balance of flavor. The Crisp BBQ can be a bit spicy for me, which is why we order two flavors, but the gojuchang flavor is worth the burn! read more

It was so good to get back to Crisp again. In my opinion, the best Korean fried chicken restaurants anywhere. We love everything at Crisp. The Seoul Steak Bowl is one of our favorites. There is always plenty of tender beef with the rice. We also always get both their Seoul Sassy and Crisp BBQ chicken. The BBQ is smoky, spicy and a little sweet. There's a decent amount of spice in that chicken. The Seoul Sassy has garlic, soy and ginger. Definitely some Asian flavors which we love. Crisp is always reliable and serves up terrific bowls and chicken. Since we've been here last DDD and Mikey Chen have been here along with I'm sure other personalities. Crisp is always on our list of places whenever we are in town. read more

First of all, I will say I have only ever gotten delivery from Crisp, and each time it's been AMAZING. Second of all, my boyfriend is Korean and is VERY picky when it comes to any type of Korean food! Food: we have got a gambit of things - the best being the chicken (duh) both the soy flavor and spicy BBQ. We also loved the bonchan (although, didn't get the correct ones we ordered, but it was still great)! The kimchi is amazing - the only thing that wasn't 10/10 was honestly the rice (which you can for sure overlook) Service: the food has always been packaged amazingly, making sure that it arrived warm and as much crispyness as possible! Cost: honestly, it's so well priced. Please give it a shot. It's amazing and we will continue to get it ever few weeks like we have been! read more

Crisp - Half chicken - Korean Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

Crisp is one of my favorite places to get Korean fried chicken. I ordered 2 whole chickens and requested for all dark meat, which is a $1.50 upgrade per bird. The dark meat upgrade is worth as each piece was super juicy. Previously, I haven't had a good experience with the winter meat as it was a bit dry. I ordered the Seoul Sassy and Crisp BBQ. The Crisp is super flavorful and a is a combo of sweet and spicy. It doesn't taste like traditional bbq sauce. The Seoul Sassy is a soy garlic glaze that isn't spicy. Both flavors are delicious and it's hard to decide which flavor is better. There is new packaging from the previous times I've visited this restaurant that allow the chicken not to be stacked on top of each other. It remains crispy after getting it to go and sitting in the box for over half hour. This is a must try place if your looking for good Korean flavored chicken. read more

Everything is good here. Read the rest of the reviews to figure out that the sassy sauce is delicious and other tips like that. The service is great, but it's not a sit down restaurant so don't except that kind of service. They're nice and efficient. They've never gotten my order wrong. There's not much seating so if it's meal time, be ready to get it to go. read more

Great food at an unbeatable price. Chicken is fried perfectly. Although the Seoul Sassy is not very sassy. I would have loved a touch of spiciness in the sauce...maybe I picked the sweetest one? read more

Obviously Crisp is amazing. You don't really need me to tell you that. It's delicious, they play good music, the ambiance is great, the employees are friendly. Go to Crisp. It's good. read more

If you're looking for great value for your money and fantastic chicken wings this is the place. The service is extremely fast and the restaurant is always crowded for good reason. You can get entire wings for a great price and the wings are MASSIVE, like so uncharacteristically massive that you think the chickens they get it from must be on some body builder regiment. Their Korean flavors are so good, I have not had a wing as good as the Seoul Sassy here it's a must try. Don't waste your money buying wings at any other place cause this is one of the best chicken wing places in Chicago. read more

Amazing fried chicken. Tastes excellent a day or two later as well. We bought chicken wings, chicken burrito, hot chicken sandwich, and a half chicken. Everything that was fried was wonderful and worth eating again. Biggest drawback of eating here is the lack of seating at this restaurant. There are a couple of communal tables with bench seating where 6 people can be seated. Personal blunder: forgot to ask one of the employees to explain the different dipping sauces read more

Back at it with my food review post! This time for Crisp 1/ Food: 8.5/10 The fried chicken was the highlight of the show! Very crispy and the sauce had good flavor. We got Crispy BBQ (red in front) and Seoul Sassy. I liked the Seoul Sassy more than the BBQ sauce, although I do think the BBQ sauce was good too. Both sauces are slightly sweet. We also got the Bad Boy Buddha (with 8 vegetables). Not too much flavor here, so we shredded our chicken and mixed in some of the chicken sauce to make it taste better. So if you wanna go for fried chicken and feel hesitant about the Buddha bowl, just go ahead and skip the bowl and go ham on the chicken LOL 2/ Location: 8/10 Located in Lake View and just a short walk from Clark St with different shops and businesses. If you want, there is a @stansdonutschicago not too far away, and a few coffee shops like @wheatsendcafe and @foxtrotmarket in the neighborhood. Street parking could be tricky, but we found free parking on a Sunday so that was quite lucky! 3/ Price: 8.5/10 Very good value for your money. We got 10 wings and a decent bowl for roughly $40 and got half of our food for leftovers. They also gave you more than 10 wings, and I have seen other reviews saying that too. So rest assured the portions are generous! Overall: 8.5/10 Would recommend trying this place for fried chicken! Not saying it is mind-blowing, but quite satisfying and comforting! Service was good too. Give it a try and tell me what you think ! read more

Crisp - 10 wings of Seoul Sassy and Crisp BBQ, Bad Boy Buddha - Korean Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

Pretty decent option for fried chicken, a chicken sandwich or chicken strips. I think I would come back and try one of the other sauces. I didn't care much for the BBQ sauce. It just tasted like any regular bbq sauce; nothing special. I did like that they had an allergen menu near the cash register. My only compliant is the price. I felt like 6 pc. chicken strips should not cost $18+. A bit too much! read more

Reliable, economical, provides a great adventure. I may sound like I am describing a Toyota, however, I am actually talking about CRISP chicken, which has always been reliable in providing great dinners with their signature seoul Sassy sauce. read more

Crisp is a casual hole-in-the-wall restaurant with delicious wings! The Seoul Sassy wings were definitely my favorite - they had a great balance of sweet/savory and were fried very well without being too oily. The Crisp BBQ wings were a on the sweeter side and spicy, and pretty tasty even if they were a little too saucy for my preference. The side of fries were very large for the price, and definitely enough for at least two people to share. I wish they were a little more salted, but the texture was good and they paired nicely with the wings. My friend got one of the burritos, and while she really liked the flavor of the meat, she said the rest of the burrito didn't add much to the flavor. Overall it was a delicious meal for a great price, and I'll definitely be back! read more

Crisp - Seoul Sassy and Crisp BBQ wings with a side of fries - Korean Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

Holy Moly! Best Korean Fried Chicken I've ever had. And I've lived in Southern California. Crisp is exactly where you need to go, even if you are just visiting Chicago from ANYWHERE. Whatever they are doing, they're doing it right. My friend and I ordered half bird with Seoul Sassy and Crisp BBQ. Crisp BBQ is the best!! My friend agreed. The chicken was fresh, delicious, with huge pieces, and flavorful. It was incredible. It tastes good too as leftovers. We also ordered a Big Boy Buddha with Chicken. They really do pile on the veggies! Crisp is well worth coming out of the way to. Plus, the area is pretty great to walk around in after to digest your food. read more

A Korean fried chicken on display in an area where 90% of customers are not East Asian. I had to double check I came to the right place as I have never been to a KFC spot that was so popular among such a diverse group. Really appreciated the exposure it brings to the culture and that so many people in the area like the food. Came in on a Saturday night. High traffic but line moves quick. Not too hard to find seating relative to traffic as many people get to-go. For parties larger than 4 there are only 2 tables that accommodate. TIP***: Check in on Yelp and get a nice deal - whole chicken amount, 2 sides, and 2 drinks for $28. Food (8/10): - Seasoning (7.5/10) Ordered two different flavors Seoul Sassy and Crisp BBQ. The Seoul Sassy (light brown) is lighter in flavor and fry. The Crisp BBQ (dark sauce) is saucy. Dripping with sauce at the bottom of the basket. Has that unique Korean style sweet bbq taste. - Crispiness (7/10) is medium to high breading and crisp due to the Korean fried style - meaning twice fried for extra crispy relative to American counterparts. - Juiciness (7/10) with slight dryness in chicken thighs which is not bad at all as thighs are hard to perfect. - Greasiness was standard/medium Sides: Fried mushrooms - never had this before but definitely worth a try. The fry is like a hushpuppy on the outside with a moist juicy mushroom inside. Comes with a chipotle like sauce with a kick. Fried onion rings - very fried just like the chicken. Probably a homage to the Korean fried style. Comes with a house made slightly sweet white sauce. Value (8/10): In terms of the Yelp Check-in deal I got (whole chicken, 2 sides, 2 drinks) for $28, this place is pretty value. Besides not having 4 drinks, this can feed at least 3 and maybe 4 people. Ambience/service (6/10): Very high traffic with Wild West type seating. Order at the front, find a table or bar type seating, and bus your own tables. Crowded if you sit at the bar type seating along the walls as the line is behind you. Hip hop music bumpin loud. Very much a come for the food and head out type feel. Not a place to really hang out or converse. No alcohol served which was a bummer for me since chicken and beer (chimaek) is how you eat Korean fried chicken. read more

If you are looking for some Korean style fried chicken wings, then search no more and come to Crisp. I came here on a Sunday night and it was pretty packed. It's shared seating on benches after you order at the counter. I got 10 wings - half Seoul Sassy and half BBQ. Even though it only gives one mark for spice level, I actually think the BBQ has a good amount of heat to it. Seoul Sassy is definitely my favorite flavor though. Last time I went I also got the big boy buddha bowl, which is essentially a bibimbap. I didn't add any meat to it because we also got so many chicken wings, but I think it would've made the bowl more tasty. The location isn't the most convenient, but I always find the time to make it out here for the Seoul Sassy wings! read more

Stopped into Crisp on a Tuesday evening, and it was packed -- so I knew right away that this place must be pretty good! And indeed it was, as the Korean fried chicken was some of the most flavorful, crispy, and juicy (not to mention the generous, large portions!) that I've ever tried! I highly recommend the Seoul Sassy flavor for the sauce, which pairs incredibly well with the juicy chicken meat (whether dark or white) and the crispy skin. The skin honestly becomes the best part to eat because of the sauce. Will definitely be back for more of this chicken! read more

I love them chicken wangs! This restaurant is a tiny little gem in the Lincoln Park neighborhood. If you love chicken wings and Korean food and dont necessarily want all the foofoo and frills, then you've come to the right place. Dont expect to be served and have a nice romantic dinner, cuz you aint getting that here. Instead, be prepared to be dining alongside some complete strangers who are getting their fingers all sticky with you as they feast on some delicious, yet ginormous, chicken wings. Paul Bunyan must have raised those birds because they are huuuuuuuge! (Thats what she said?) I love the Seoul Sassy wings because i dont like my wings too sweet and glazy. This provides just enough glaze where i can still feel the crisp of the chicken skin crunching when i chomp down on those bad boys. The BBQ wings are good too and I know my husband likes them, but he's a sauce man and puts sauce on Errrthang. For me they are ok. I really want to try the lemon pepper and even the plain wings with sauce on the side next time. The Filipino girl in me wants to try it with just plain white rice on the side with some cured vinegar! The steak bowls are really good and really filling as well. Try adding some sauce to it! Whenever my husband and I go, we just share a bowl and 5 wings and its more than enough for both of us to finish. And trust me, we can eat both our share of food. This place can get packed on the weekends, so plan accordingly. Both times I've came were on a Tues and Friday night, and we were able to get seats on the counter by the wall. read more

I didn't expect to find good Korean fried chicken in Chicago (no offense), but Crisp changed my mind! We ordered the Seoul Steak Bowl ($11.95) and 10 Whole Wings ($22.95). We chose Seoul Sassy and Crisp BBQ for our wings, and they were SO GOOD. I'd recommend both flavors to firstcomers. They also had great service -- the food was out fresh within five minutes of ordering, and they even gave us extra wings. Definitely try Crisp if you get the chance! read more

Stop there everytime I visit Chicago. Sassy wings are mandatory! Bowls are also very good

A WILD RIDE FOR YOUR TASTEBUDS AND TUMMY. The Seoul Beef Bowl is out of this world!! Quite possibly the best Korean beef I've had. It's tender and the sauce is sweet, savory, and juicy. I never thought I would be so satisfied with just beef and rice in a bowl! The SASSY BBQ is my favorite of the sauces, it's sweet and SO SAVORY. The crispy wings + this sauce = a partnership I can support. The wings are huge!!! Get the bone in for a more authentic experience. The bone out are good, too! Limited seating! We went at 530pm on Monday, and it was dead. By 600pm, there was no where to sit or move. By far, best Korean Fried Chicken in Chicago!! read more

Best fried chicken ever. I came with a group of 3, and we got the traditional and buffalo sauce wings, along with kimchi and a bowl on the side. First off, the wing was so crispy and juicy. Super flavorful. It is pretty messy, so be prepared for that. The wings are big, so we got full quickly. The rice bowl and kimchi were good for balancing out the grease. 10/10 would recommend. read more

Crisp - Wings with extra Buffalo sauce - Korean Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

This place definitely did not disappoint. I'm going to keep coming back and try a different sauce each time.

I love chi-mek (Korean saying for Chicken and beer), so this has been on my list for ages. I finally made it out here with some friends, and we took advantage of the BYOB option (though no one else there did). Even though we came early on a Friday night to snag seats, the seating was limited and the space super crowded. Luckily, we got a corner table to share, though with the quick in-and-out traffic, your tables will definitely not be clean. It's a no-frills chicken shop though, so this was expected. We ordered the seoul sassy wings, crisp bbq wings, buffalo wings, and a baby buddha bowl with beef. This was the perfect amount for three people to try a variety and still have a few wings to take home. The buffalo was my favorite, because I love me a good spicy wing. The seoul sassy was probably the second favorite of the crowd, with the crisp bbq pretty much tied with it. I wish they had a dolsot bibimbap (hot stone bowl) option as opposed to just having the buddha bowls, but oh well. Everything was absolutely delicious, messy, and oh so memorable. read more

The brother stared at me agog as I said all I want are Chicago dogs for lunch. He wasn't feeling it and dragged me to Korean, not listening to my pleas that i just had Wednesday wing night and wasn't in the mood for a bowl of rice two days after wing night. After my initial grumpiness wore off, I decided to try a Buddha bowl and make it healthy over lettuce instead of rice plus some bulgogi. He ordered the Seoul sassy wings and honestly I'm regretting not getting the buffalo wings. As unauthentic as buffalo is at a joint like this, they did smell hella delicious and my mouth was watering as I stared at the 80 year old grandpa going to town on his. If we had only ordered wings, I'd be more likely to give a 4 or 5 star rating, but I just couldn't get behind my Buddha bowl. It was cold, not room temperature, but brr cold with a hot sunny side egg and hot bulgogi atop. I thought the whole bowl should have been warm, but wasn't so had mixed emotions and couldn't really taste it the way it should be tasted. The Seoul sassy wings were tasty and I loved all the condiments! I've also gotta give props to the staff for being really accommodating to my healthy asshole tendencies and asks about swapping rice for lettuce....Yeah I know I'm eating Korean and am not going to lose weight, but with a salad bowl I feel marginally better about my eating out habits and the staff let me continue to feel that way. read more

Amazing spot in Lakeview for great food and a great atmosphere. This is a go-to spot of mine whenever I'm craving chicken, specifically Korean Fried Chicken. I typically get 3-5 wings (and they're BIG so beware) with the Seoul Sassy flavor. I am obsessed with the flavor of this, it's a sweet soy glaze that is better with every bite. I'm not a huge spice fan, I need to be in the mood for it, but they also have GREAT spicy options. The workers are friendly and food comes out quickly. Make sure to get a seat right after you order because they get busy fast and you can be left holding food and looking for a place to sit. The food is amazing. It has a little bit for everyone. This place has a constant crowd. If you can find a place to sit you are a lucky person! Unless you go at an off time be prepared to stand. I suggest to look the menus up online because people get really mad at you for asking questions. Crunchy? Yes Crazy saucy? Yes Cheap? Yes Crisp is basically what bon chon wishes it was.
