First off let me say i loved this place and was a customer for over 10 years here. I brought multiple cars to get fixed to this location. I recommended them to multiple people and family members throughout the neighborhood. A family member went to them and it was an extremely expensive repair. Tony offered to put them on a payment plan and supposedly she did not finish the payments. I do not know if it is true or not as I AM NOT HER!!! This happened over a year ago. I have not had any car issues since then until yesterday. We had my husbands car towed there and this morning when I call, TONY starts demeaning me and saying that he wont work on our car anymore because we f*cked him over. I said I never did anything to him and always used his services - for gods sake he replaced my engine about 7 years ago in an older car. I have always paid him and never had any issues with him. He then goes on a tangent saying that because a family member f*cked him over he is done with me and to get my car off his f"cking lot and many more expletives. I even told him I agreed with him being pissed at said family member but that I was not her. That I didn't blame him for being angry! But he continued to rage on about how its the same thing because its a family member and he doesn't care and so on and so forth. Even if he begged me to come back I would NEVER. There was no reason for him to be yelling at me the way he was when I have never done anything to him. I have always paid him. I have never screwed him over. But because I recommended him to someone that did he is rude, aggressive and verbally violent to me. The only reason it is 1 star is because I cannot give 0 stars. read more

There are so many mechanics all over the Chicagoland area and the suburbs but I have to say that Crest is one of the best. I had an issue with my rear brakes (they needed to be replaced) and the stealership gave me an outrageous quote on new brakes and possibly new calipers. I immediately told the bf who recommended that I go to the local mechanic that he and his family has always trusted. Crest is family owned and Tom and Tony took care of my car like one of their own. They explained everything to me in detail and even provided some tips and solutions for other past car issues I've had. This place is very historic and doesn't have the fancy big waiting room or big screen televisions that a dealership has. However, they have a sense of integrity, reasonable prices, and quality service. In fact, they even dropped me off and picked me up so I could spend my time running errands instead of waiting! This guy Tony was something else, I came in to get my trans fluid done along with a replacement mirror, and a radio swap. First he started out nice, then went onto saying this is the last time he will work on my car when I provide my own parts. Fine, I wanted to speak to him again before I left my car and he asked me why I don't do the work myself? I told him my tools are at work at the airport, he goes onto saying ahhh great so you're overpaid! What business is that of yours?! I left not saying anything, he calls me around 4pm saying he only got the Trans done. I pick up the car he says $30, I hand him $40 and he NEVER GIVES ME MY CHANGE! You would think in these days people would be glad for business no? Not ask why I don't do the work myself or not to bring my own parts! NEVER AGAIN! On the up note his other mechanic seemed nice. I needed a new mechanic because I haven't had one since I moved from our old house, and Crest is two blocks away so I gave it try. I went in for a simple headlight replacement that I would usually do myself, but my new car had other ideas. I stopped in on a Friday afternoon and he asked if I could come back in the morning because they were really busy, so I did no biggie. The next morning I went back and was taken in a reasonable amount of time even though they were still pretty busy. The guys there were super friendly, did a great job and I didn't feel like they were trying to BS me like other mechanics. If I have any other issues with either of my cars I would take it back to Crest with hesitation, but hopefully I won't have to that often. read more

These guys are great. Tom Jr. is super informative. I took my car in to a headlight changed and they did it right away. The mechanic that changed my headlight told me that I needed new tires pretty bad (trust me, I did... But I already knew that but I just kept avoiding it). I took my vehicle to have a transmission put in the owner was very nice and reassuring telling me that it would take x amount of days and it would be safe on the property so I decided to let them work on it then the problems started every time I called to check on it ( which was after about a week of being there ) the owner talked nasty to him then the next week I called to check on the status he didn't answer his phone and when he finally returned my call he said YOUR VAN IS READY YOU CAN COME GET IT in a very nasty tone and hung up I found a ride and went and picked it up so he handed me the key and he started walking off so I asked about paper work or what kind of warranty it had he told me I think he was mad because he said I had to pay a deductible and I told him I didn't anyway I walked around my van inspected it and found a lot of scratches that wasn't there when I dropped it off when I got ready to tell the owner he jumped in a car with a female and they pulled off my point is he was nice at first to get my business then after I didn't have to pay a deductible his whole attitude changed he didn't give me any paper work or receipt read more

I will not take my car to Crest Automotive again. After a few returns to fix some brake issues, they failed to bolt the brake caliper in place which created a very dangerous situation. When I returned to advise them that another mechanic found and resolved the issue, there was no follow-up. Just a halfhearted offer for a free oil change. I'm not going back. read more

However, being a mid-20-something female,I didn't understand exactly what it was they were replacing. So Big Tom actually drew out a diagram for me in order to explain what they were doing. My family and I were heading out of town for the Fourth of July when the dreaded "check engine" light came on. We exited the highway and with the help of Yelp, we found Crest. They insisted we wait in the AC while they immediately looked at our car. Turns out the radiator was cracked and being 3:00 the day before a holiday, they wouldn't be able to get a new radiator till after the holiday. However, they sent us on our way with a bottle of water to top off the radiator. Within an hour of stopping, we were back on our way, we couldn't be happier. Ok - so my 10 year old car is in need of a new transmission. I love my little car and they showed respect both for my little Honda Civic and the fact that there weren't alot of shops that were even willing to give me a quote on a rebuilt transmission. They were honest, located where they could get the parts and gave me a "best estimate". I'm waiting to see how I'm going to creatively juggle paying for the repairs - unemployment doesn't give you alot of wiggle room. But I appreciate their no pressure approach and "ya we can handle it" attitude. By the way the Honda dealership told me they couldn't handle the trans work and that I was SOL. read more

What can I say, you can't find a better mechanic shop around. If your looking for honesty, good prices and and a friendly staff, go here! I had a bad oil leak and my windshield wiper would not spray out the solution. I took my car in a couple of other places looking for the best price. First place said I had bad head gaskets, a crack in my oil pan, and that my pump needed to be replace for my washer fluid dispenser. Quote $1,300. Next place, right down the street, gave me the same diagnostic, also stated that my transmission is in dire need of repairs. The quote without the supposed transmission issue, $1,550. I'm pretty stressed by now. Finally I go on Yelp and find Crest Automotive, all great reviews. I take it in. Turns out its only a bad sensor saying my car has to much oil, therefore constantly spitting out oil. He said my pump for windshield wiper was fine and working, even though I had fluids in it, that I just needed it bleed because I must have run out at some point putting air in the lines. He said my transmission looked fine. Final bill $380. Its been 2 weeks now and no leaks! This place will be my full time mechanic for any issues in the future. read more
