Every time I walk-in, I am greeted by several employees and asked if I need help. This is a great store for first responders and people who love the outdoors. 1/4 of the store is completely stocked with just about anything first responders would need from uniforms, boots and accessories. They also have a full clothing alterations area in the back. I have had many alterations completed by Crescent and the seamstress is always on point. Let me start off by saying the whole staff at Crescents Supply are all extremely helpful and friendly. I went in a couple weeks ago to get fitted for a local LE agency. I was greeted by Angie and she assisted me through the whole process. At the time, Crescents was all out of my agencies short sleeve shirts and said their next shipment wasn't until more than a month out. Angie came up with the idea of cutting one of the long sleeve shirts to make it into a short sleeve. I loved her problem solving and assistance throughout whole process. E-mailed Crescent via Yelp to inquire hemming a couple of pair of Wrangler jeans. Response time was within 24 hrs. Being the impatient guy I sometimes can be, I phoned the store and asked about the alteration I needed. Was told "no problem". Then I checked their web page and found denim listed as one of their many alteration procedures. Took the pants down to the store and got the jeans in the pipeline for alteration, no problem. Later the e-mail response from my first attempt to inquire about my Wrangler alteration appeared. The response indicated "our machines cannot handle denim". Moral of the story, go to the source for accurate info, not Yelp. My rating may be adjusted based on receipt of hemmed Wranglers in a week. read more

We live in Los Banos which we don't have many options of alteration places open on the weekends (which is very unfortunate). So I went on yelp to find places that are open on the weekend and this was the first place that was recommended. We are so grateful for this place even though it was a drive we were able to get my husbands pants alter for a wedding that is coming up very soon. Today I locked my keys in my car at the McHenry Rd store and the employees and the manager were so rude they wouldn't let me use the store phone or there personal phone to call my mom and then I asked if they had a clothes hanger and they said they couldn't lend me a hanger that they were not allowed so rude and unprofessional I don't recommend this bad business to anybody there are other Business that would treat you the customer much better. read more

I absolutely love this store. The prices are comparable. The selection is vast. They will order anything for you if it's out of stock..The employees are the most helpful individuals I have ever had the pleasure of dealing witn in the retail industry. I've had many visits for my uniforms for FD and they are always kind and helpful. In particular is Christine, who is so patient, thorough and kind. She is the sweetest & most helpful and keeps in communication should there be unexpected delays, changes or issues. She takes her time with you, and provides the customer service that gives a great experience. I am out of town, and don't mind having to drive here. This HAS to be Cop Heaven! I was on my last pair of Boots that I use for Bicycle Riding... Magnum Vipers ( http://www.yelp.com/biz/magnum-viper-low-boot-modesto#hrid:97tXtdP2cGbj0NsVfNRCSQ ), and Vipers are considered Police Boots... let's see what Crescent's got... The interior of Crescent Work & Outdoor is HUGE! It's very reminiscent of a Military Surplus place... with all the Cop stuff, Samurai Swords behind the counter, Camping Stuff (that you can use for your Survivalist needs). Crescent is not discriminatory.... If you're a Cop or anti-government Individualist... you'd be surprised at how each of these extremes of the social spectrum have in common. Painted on their large exterior windows are ads for Paintball Gear... just like Cops and Survivalists... Paintball enthusiasts also use the same equipment. About a third of the square footage was devoted to Cop Stuff... this is where the local constabulatory does it's shopping! Crescent didn't carry Magnum Vipers, but their Boot selection consiisted of 5.11 ( www.511tactical.com ) stuff and Rocky Boots. But I did see a Weather-proof Jacket for $29.95 that was interesting... might come back tomorrow just for this! Came today to add 2 extra hash marks on my shirt. They estimated my shirt be ready on 3/10/20 (19 days). The girl on the counter went to ask if they can have it ready by Saturday (9 days). They said they would, but for about double the amount I was going to pay. I didn't ask for all the patches. Just asked for 2 extra hash marks. read more

Crescent Supply - Outdoor Gear Near Me - Modesto, California

This place is the WORST customer service experience I've had in a long time! I was hired this year by a State Park, and this place was suggested to get uniforms. Since it was a 90-minute drive (3-hour round trip) to get here, I called first to make sure they had the necessary items in stock; and I was told that they did. So I made the trip, only to find out that they in fact did NOT have the uniform I needed. The rep tried to fit me in men's clothes - which is just plain stupid: men and women have different body shapes, and their clothes are accordingly cut differently. I was not going to purchase any $50 item of clothing ill-fitted to my body! Finally they had me try women's items in a similar style, but not the correct items I needed for a uniform. So we placed a special order for the items I needed. I was told it would take 4-6 weeks for the uniforms to arrive. (Meanwhile, I've already started my job.) Six weeks go by, and NOBODY CALLS ME. Finally I call them for my order status, and I'm told that my uniforms had arrived sometime earlier. Except for one item. So I drive out again to pick them up. The shirts need State patches applied, and the pants need to be hemmed. Nobody took any measurements at the time I placed the order, so I assumed that it would only take a little time to get done when I picked them up. WRONG. Not only are the patches not already applied (when the clothes have just been sitting there), but I'm told it will be another TWO WEEKS to hem the pants. If they had taken measurements in the first place, all of this could've been done before I made the second trip! Exactly two weeks later I get a call that the uniforms are ready. So I make a third trip to pick them up. The missing item still hasn't arrived. I'm told it's probably backordered. It's been TWO MONTHS since I first placed the order! So I spend another MONTH waiting, and calling periodically to check the status of my order. Nobody can give me a straight answer. I'm told that someone will look into it and call me, but I don't get a call back. Finally the rep who helped me originally has to REORDER it! (Btw, he's the only person who called me back when he said he would.) After THREE MONTHS and four 3-hour round trips to this place I finally have the uniforms my job requires. Which is simply an unacceptable amount of time and hassle to go through for something necessary to employment. I have no intention of ever doing business with this place again. read more

What do you want?! Clothes, camping, weapons, boats, gadgets, army clothing and bumper stickers, gifts, embroidery, hats......survival??? There are always customers, but it never feels crowded. The staff is friendly, helpful, and usually on purpose trying to serve us if and when needed. There is a ton of stuff without creating an overwhelming environment. And the stuff is awesome! I could spend hundreds, if not thousands of dollars here, if only I had that. I could return every week and find something I never saw before, and want it! No need to go all the way to Bass Pro Shop. If it ain't here, you prolly don't need it. The only drawback, is also a draw. Flip a coin! The taco trucks across the street are amazingly yummy and cheap, BUT they attract pan handlers. The staff specifically Maria is very knowledgeable in items and if they don't have them they can be ordered. The camping items are excellent. Selection is mediocre. Prices are pretty much the same as everywhere else. Nothing special. Side note, one guy who works here "Frank T." (Older, white hair) made my girlfriend very uncomfortable by noticeably staring at her as she would walk by. She had to go wait in the car as my group continued shopping because she was very uncomfortable with him staring. Another side note: the homeless begging for money outside the store is annoying and they appear to be strung out crack heads which seems to fit the neighborhood. read more
