Selection is mediocre. Prices are pretty much the same as everywhere else. Nothing special. Side note, one guy who works here "Frank T." (Older, white hair) made my girlfriend very uncomfortable by noticeably staring at her as she would walk by. She had to go wait in the car as my group continued shopping because she was very uncomfortable with him staring. Another side note: the homeless begging for money outside the store is annoying and they appear to be strung out crack heads which seems to fit the neighborhood. read more

Crescent is seriously the best store around! Everyone who works there are very helpful and friendly. We've been here a few times now, Shelene has helped us every single time. She helped with last minute uniforms and gave us some helpful information on what to wear and use for my fiancé. Will definitely make Crescent our first choice in looking for anything that we need. Shelene was amazing!! We walked in with the intention of just checking things out, trying to price some things that my husband would need for CDC academy. We were quite overwhelmed at first trying to figure out what items he would actually need and what ones were going to be approved for his use. Then Shelene offered her assistance. She asked my husband what he was shopping for, and when he told her it was for CDC she jumped into gear. She knew exactly what he would need and really put us at ease. I've been getting my uniforms here for over 10 years. Always great customer service with a great selection of uniforms and gear. I'd specially like to comment on the seamstress's that altered my uniforms. They did a great job doing several alterations on both my pants and shirts, which were complicated. Most importantly getting the pipping straight after tapering the legs. I know they worked hard on my order, they even had me come back in to try them on while they were there to make sure I was satisfied. Great customer service! Uniform department. The whole staff was busy even the young lady that helped me. I did not Catch her name, but she had her hair in a bun thats all I remember. She saw that I need help and puts aside whatever she was doing and asked if I needed to try on some boots. She brings out the style and size I asked for, the shoe just did not seem right. I told her what I was looking for and she brings out two more pairs for me to try on and BINGO! I took a pair she recommend. Towards the end she apologized for waiting. Haven't been through in a while as I moved out of the area so thought I'd hit it up. It was close to closing but as payday just hit I felt a little splurgey. Walked in and started to cruise the isles. As always an amazing amount of gear that doesn't suck. Always like the cast iron section although they didn't have the steel pan I was looking for no biggy. However when I stepped into the 5.11 side I got a cold shoulder the likes of which I've not felt EVER. I know it was close to closing. I know I didn't shave today. I know there was another person over there being helped try on his pants. I know that if I had come in uniform it would have been different. But I didn't and it was. I flashed a smile at the lady, she scowled at me and kept counting out her till. Even said something directly at her, asked about a size of shirt. Had to ask twice at a range of 6 feet with nobody else around to get her to tell me "no, we're getting more soon". I put that on the whatever list. Asked if the new Ignitor pack was around as I wanted to try it out. The fact that I asked by name should have tipped her off that maybe I knew a thing or too. She was to busy for even a sentence and just said "no". I found a shirt that was a new color for me and bought two flag patches with the pink stripe. Sales lady said they were for breast cancer but I doubt this place will send any money towards cancer research secondary to my purchase. Two stars for the selection of mostly quality gear. That is the last time I stop here I can't stand crappy service. I work hard for my money and 5.11 lady you won't get any more of mine to count in your till. Good news travels bad news travels faster. I cannot recommend this place for the disparity of service it shows its customers. Have a corporate or agency account I'm sure they hug kiss and make you feel good. But where the rubber hits the road and folks like me walk in they could care less. Just keep counting that cash... read more

I am writing this review specifically in regards to their seamstresses and tailors at this facility. I brought in a jacket to convert to a work jacket. I had patches done, zippers added, embroidery, the works. The end product was fantastic. The quality of workmanship was outstanding and the materials added appear durable. I had coworkers asked if it was a 511 jacket that sells for around $180. The jacket and alterations all together cost me $80, can't beat that. I have been to 4 other uniform shops between Modesto and Merced and by far this was the best product. Customer service was very friendly, accommodating, and professional. Store item selection in the meantime was rather sparse. If you didn't like 511 then you're out of luck. read more

this has been one of my favorite local stores since my childhood in the 70s. I'll always remember my brother and I riding our bikes down to their McHenry Ave location and walking the aisles. their inventory has changed alot (no more super-cool military surplus) but it's still always a good time when shopping. and they also have the most amazing selection of 5.11 knives, and I love me some knives!!!!! read more

In fact I even found the hat that I wanted that I can't find anywhere else, but was unable to purchase it due to the customer service, or lack of. The staff in there just made me feel super unwelcome as soon as I walked in the door I guess I'll have to order my hat off Amazon because I'll go with out before I buy anything from the people who work in that store. read more

At first I was a little bit sketched out because of the surrounding area, but don't let it fool you; this store is GREAT! Everything was great about it, from the gear that was available, to the customer service! I was looking at getting some 5.11 pants and a couple of other things; things that I didn't think I'd find in such close proximity to my home. The pricing was set at what I believe is MSRP (pair of 5.11 pants were $60 on manufacturer website, and they were $60 in store), which isn't totally bad; maybe a few dollars more than the same pants on Amazon, except you don't have to wait for shipping, so I guess it's worth it if you're in a hurry. I will say this, however, there were very few employees, maybe one or two, in the 5.11 section, more than other sections of the store; I pretty much had to chase down an employee at one point and ask to use the fitting room. I will definitely be stopping by again in the future, shall a need for gear arises. read more

This place has a descent selection of gear. They didn't have exactly what I was looking for but not a lot of places do. They carry a lot of 5.11 tactical gear. The prices were just okay and the staff is helpful and fairly knowledgable as well. They're in a sketchy part of town, and the junkies outside aren't a good look for any business. read more

My family has been shopping at Crescent for years. Anytime I need any camping gear or work clothes I only shop there. They have all kinds of cool things for sale. Where else are you going to find gold panning equipment and a dutch oven?
