Bought 2 rats. 1 had been sneezing and was told she probably had some bedding in her nose. Got a 2nd rat and she seemed fine. 2 weeks later she died. Just be careful when choosing a rat for a pet. Even feeders, you don't know what these rats are carrying and you don't want your pet sick. read more

Walked in, and the place felt sad. The animals are not well kept in the slightest, especially not the parrots. When I passed by the room with rodents in them, the glass on one of the enclosures was wide open and the animals were trying to get out of it. I closed it just to make sure the poor babies didn't fall out and hurt themselves. Don't even get my started on the conditions they keep their parrots in. All crammed in one room, so many flies on the ceiling, they have a Macaw and a cockatoo in small cages with absolutely NO entertainment or enrichment whatsoever. They have budgies crammed into this one glass cage, and it is clear most if not all of their birds are not healthy and do not look it. Especially the Cockatoo and Macaw they have, both extremely intelligent birds who have NO enrichment in their severely undersized cages. Please, go anywhere but here, the owners clearly only care for the money made off of exotic animals, felt very trashy, and they clearly have little to no knowledge of the animals they're "caring" for. read more

My daughter and I stopped by to get some snails for our fish, all the tanks were disgusting, dead fish in most of them. Frozen fish food was freezer burned. After walking around a little, we noticed how truly disgusting this place actually was, animals looked sick, too many to an enclosure, and a few that should never even be for sale (prairie dogs are NOT pets)I don't know how this place is open and hasn't been shut down by the ASPCA! Bought a skinny leopard gecko hoping to give it love and hopefully fatten her up and within less than two weeks she died and upon simply asking for my 80$ back (definitely wasn't buying another gecko here) the owner questioned me, accusing me of knowing it was going to die and questioned ME as to why I didn't tell someone. Maybe because these are your animals and you or your employees should notify you/the buyer if an animal in the OWNERS care is sick. And how the hell would I know if it was actually sick and not just skinny? We loved Creatures plus. My son's and I travelled all the way from NH. We were far from disappointed. Everything was healthy. The place was clean. The owner and his boy's were very friendly and knowledgeable. We loved talking with them and they went above and beyond our greatest expectations. Prices were great and they even gave me a quantity discount on 7 Blue Polar Parrot Cichlids that they breed in house. I added some snails and a couple different plant species and the owner discounted everything instead of nickell'ing and dime'ing me to death. We will be back soon. P.S. Just off phone with man from shop. My daughter had purchased a hedgehog about a month ago and had repeatedly called. Nothing was mentioned of a vet there. My daughter had to reach out to other places for help. I had to rush Hedgehog to vet Sunday morning where they had to put him down due to "underlying" conditions. I have the paperwork and the $300 it cost me to try to save it. The only way this person wanted to deal with it was giving a great deal on a new one. I hope this place shuts down. This pet store has great potential, but is pretty bad right now. It would be ok if they were just selling merchandise, but their animals are clearly suffering. They are doing a poor job representing what good enclosures should look like for animals (especially their reptiles) and many of them are covered in stuck shed and have lost their tails. Everything in this shop is covered in dust. I wish someone would take their animals away and give them to people who wanted to care for them and love them. read more

Taken from the Examiner: The owners of the pet store Creatures, Creatures, Creatures in North Smithfield have been charged with animal cruelty. According to North Smithfield police, the animals that caused the charges were a puppy and a kitten. The kitten is still alive but extremely dehydrated and malnourished. The puppy wasn't so lucky and died. Ernest Carosi of Mapleville was arrested and James Regan, 42, is also facing charges of cruelty to animals. This Examiner visited the Creatures, Creatures, Creatures store in June. The cages were grossly over crowded. There were several cages of puppies, one the size of a small guinea pig cage that contained four 10 week old puppies with no room to move. One of the puppies (pictured to the right) was in another crowded glass tank (covered with mesh) with at least eight other puppies. He had no food until I pointed it out to the man who identified himself as a co-owner. The puppy was eating paper and was then given a hand full of food to share with the others in the litter. The puppy was one that was "just brought in by the local breeder" with a litter of at least eight. He was very thin. The price of $900 was quickly brought down to $700 and free food when the owner saw me holding the dog. He could not produce papers for the dog, saying that they would be coming in soon. There were more than 40 prairie dogs squished in a round, glass tank. The room where the kittens were kept were not clean and reeked of urine. Most food bowls were empty. According to a report on WPRI-10, the store Creatures, Creatures, Creatures has been in the news before for having birds without ankle bands in the store. This is a violation read more

Great pet shop, tons of selection of fish, reptiles and products to go along. I have a few fish tanks and was pleasantly surprised at the good prices on not only the fish but on fish food and decor. They also have a decent selection of oddballs and larger fish which is usually rare to find in local stores and non existent at your local box store. Their was a fair amount of staff, pretty much an employee per room caring for the animals. I was skeptical of this place giving their first two ratings but they have definitely changed. I would recommend this store to anyone looking for fish or reptiles or birds. read more

This place is absolutely disgusting. Dead animals, old nasty food in tanks, not kept up properly. So sad to see so many animals being mistreated. Both times I bought animals there (crested gecko, leopard gecko) they had disease (I later found this out by a registered vet that had said the animals were sick before I had even bought them) and both died shortly after I had bought them even though I was vigorously taking care of them to make sure they were safe and happy unlike they were at creatures plus or whatever they want to be called by before they get shut down again. When I talked to the owners about these animals and how they had disease they denied it was their fault and even though I had only had the animals for less than a month, a few weeks at most it was all my fault. This place deserves no business and the animals need to be removed from this property before anyone else gets conned into buying and bonding with a sick animal that they will blame the outcome on you. This place is now called Creatures Plus. It has been changed around a little. Has a good selection of fish, reptiles, birds, rodents, and more. They are the best prices you'll find around almost guaranteed. I've never had a problem with any of the critters and fish I've bought from there. Jim and Nick are very knowledgeable and helpful. I highly recommend this place for everyone. My sister absolutely loves her super friendly and cuddly lions head rabbit. They are going to be opening a little petting zoo downstairs for kids to learn about the different species. All in all this is my favorite pet store and my go to place when I'm looking for something. Jim will always get what I'm looking for and at a good price. read more

All of these bad reviews are not true. The people over there are really nice and know what they are doing. What happened was a kitten died in the owners hands and the town made a big production about it. They animals they have there are really great except for their hermit crabs. However not a lot of people are aware of the proper care for hermit crabs. I don't even think they have hermit crabs anymore the last time I saw hermit crabs there was at their Johnston store. They have great fish and plants and coral there. I would only buy fish, plants, and coral from places like this. Not pet smart and pet co etc. read more
