I stopped by here to buy a few fish for my tank, as my current population had dwindled since March. The store was fairly quiet, so I continued in donning my KN-95 mask and ensuring optimum distance from others in the store. The fish section is in the back of the store, and there was only one other customer there. The sales associate greeted me promptly, and from a distance I asked for a few fish for my tropical tank. She climbed up on a three foot ladder to access the tank. It took her a while to net the fish (they were fast), which was fine. Then she dropped the fish on the floor, and proceeded to pick it up and put it in a bag for me. I asked her for a different fish, so she plopped the dropped fish back in the tank. I suggested that fish should have gone into a quarantine tank, but to no avail. I left with a few fish, and would be unlikely to purchase more here. read more

I wanted to give a quick shout-out to the WONDERFUL staff at PetSmart (#2359) on Eddie Dowling Hwy. I brought my dog Oakley in today for a bath, hair cut and nail filing with Nicole. She did an awesome job on him! He looked and smelled terrific when I picked him up. In fact, the whole staff in the salon was really nice and super friendly. While I was there, I picked up a few things for my dog. Kathy (one of the store associates) was a great help. She was patient and knowledgeable about the different products I was purchasing. The worst pet grooming I've ever took my dog. Do not let Amanda groom your dog. She clearly doesn't know how to do nothing besides shaving your dog when told not to. The staff here in the store are way better than other locations but unfortunately the selection is not as big as others. This is a small store, and it's not that intuitive to figure out where everything is--but the staff remembers you and is willing to help. One thing that irks me about PetSmart as a whole Is how long the rewards program takes to kick in. It's done by cell phone number and it's been about a month since I signed up, and about $300 in spending yet my rewards aren't there yet. Prices are pretty good--but be aware that if your pets food is on clearance in the clearance section, it's probably being discontinued. read more

This review is for the grooming section of this store. I bring my shih tzu Remy here for his hair cuts and grooming and I have always had a great experience. My groomer is normally Amy, she is always pleasant and you can tell like she likes to work with the pups. She also does exactly as asked and does a great job! I drop Remy off and get a phone call when he is all done. The only reason for the 4 stars not 5 is it can be a little pricey but you get what you pay for I guess (I do get the top dog package which includes a lot). I would recommend the grooming shop here to anyone and I would tell people to ask for Amy. read more

It's such a shame, because we ALMOST had a great experience. We took our dog to get her nails clipped this afternoon, and the groomers were phenomenal. It was the easiest nail clipping experience I've ever had with our dog, who is a rescue with high anxiety. They were gentle and patient and commented how sweet she was being even though she was scared. When we were done, my fiancé got in line at the register to pay. I was walking my dog around outside, but with the parking lot traffic and motorcycles she was becoming overstimulated so I decided to take her back in the quiet store. She barked a couple times until she calmed down, and an older male employee in an orange apron gave us quite a look but I brushed it off and kept her walking. He then went over to my fiancé, asked a couple questions about our dog, and called her a "spaz" and a "psycho". I'm sure we're not the only ones with a dog who gets nervous, and this was such an inappropriate thing for someone who works at a pet store to say about someone's dog. I highly recommend the groomers, but make sure your dog is perfect if you're planning to walk them around while you wait. read more

We have been going to Petco in Attleboro for years but decided to try Petsmart in North Smithfield because it was closer. We called and was quoted $49 for each dog, sounded good so we booked an appointment for our two smaller to medium size dogs. I dropped off and later came to pick them up, and the charges were $57 per dog, not $49. There was an "ad-on" charge of $7.00 each for conditioner??? We did not ask for this and the manager was somewhat argumentative but finally relented, insisting the conditioner was part of their basic package, but it clearly said "ad on" on the bill (and we were quoted $49 which was not even right as we ended up paying $50....she said it was on the signed agreement...as if it's some sort of a legal document. I said no, you should have mentioned the up charge as I would have declined....and she took it off. I know that Store Manager is following a "Corporate script" on how to extract more money from customers and I don't appreciate it at all. To add insult to injury this was my first use of a RI Pet store and guess what? RI charges 7% sales tax on "services" whereas Mass. does not charge sales tax on haircuts and services. No wonder RI residents cross the border for gas purchases and other lower prices. In the future we will stay in Mass. We are leaving RI soon and I can hardly wait! On a footnote, I had the opportunity to walk the store and look at products and prices. I must say I was shocked at the prices for what amounted to overly processed mystery stuff that is then formed and baked/dried into little nuggets they call food. On one aisle was a little bag, like 4oz of some sort on "dental" chews for dogs at over $16 bucks??? Is the American consumer so stupid in thinking they are buying something special?? We make our own dog food ( ground turkey, cooked dry beans, diced sweet potatoes, cooked oatmeal and lg can of Campbell's cream of chicken soup. My recipe makes about 3 gallons, enough to feed two dogs for two weeks at a cost of about $16 bucks, takes about 90 minutes to make. I am skeptical on all those products! Years ago I used Science Diet for dogs, the de-facto standard of healthy dining for dogs. Do you remember the Chinese pet food scandal years back? Yes, Science Diet was being made in China and on the list of poisoning dogs in the USA. And I used to listen to their marketing crap. As consumers make sure your not being duped. DO NOT GET GROOMING SERVICES HERE! I just brought my poor, small, Havanese dog there for a simple nail trim. The groomer got her tail stuck in the drill and had the nerve to blame my dog for wagging her tail. Then she and the salon manager started pulling the drill out of her long tail hair. My dog was crying and struggling to get out of the noose. I was yelling for them to just cut the hair as I didn't care what it looked like, I just didn't want her in pain. They would NOT listen. I demanded they give me my dog back and she shoved her at me almost dropping my dog on the divider. The look on my face spoke volumes I'm sure. The manager said, "Your dog leapt at you. She didn't almost drop her." No kidding IDIOT! That's why you should hold a dog properly and not let your attitude get the best of you. NEVER AGAIN! Thank God I stayed and didn't let them page me when they were done as they offered. A complaint was filed with corporate hq already (surprised they're open on Labor Day). Please keep in mind my family owns 2 small businesses so it takes a lot to get me to file a corporate complaint on someone. I know how difficult it is to manage employees. If I employed these girls, they'd be terminated on the spot. read more

This review is for the grooming dept basically. I had a very unpleasant experience and won't be going back. I've been to the grooming salon at this particular location a total of three times. The first two times were fine, in fact more then fine. I had the friendliest nicest girl cut my 2 year old yorkies hair. You can tell when someone truly loves animals and their job and I would def say she did. On my last & final visit, there was a new female working. I arrived around 6pm for a walk in sany cut. Which usually takes less then ten mins on my extremely small 6lb Yorkie. I went online first to check out the hours because at this particular location the grooming salon closes early most of the week w/the exception of two days. (I went on one of those days where it was opened later, suppose to be until 9pm.) So I walked in and said hi and that I was here for a sany cut. Which is just basically them trimming the backside of the dog. Immediately I received a bad attitude from the female working. She looked disappointed that I came in, immediately I got the impression that she must of want to leave early. I explained that I went online and looked at the hours and it listed today as a longer day for the salon. She was quite unpleasant as she took my name etc.. I told her I had to run to the store very quickly next door but would be right back. On my way out I paid and was literally out of the store for 5 mins when my phone rang saying my Yorkie was done. I thought that was odd but went right back. As I walked in the manager was standing right in front of the doors and stated to me that he would be refunding me my money due to her not being able to shave her legs. Immediately I was confused and said she wasn't suppose to shave her legs! So I ran into the salon area where the unpleasant groomer proceeded to tell me my Yorkie was aggressive. I actually laughed. She said she couldn't work on her cause she was to mean & aggressive. I wish I could upload a video or pic of my 6lb Yorkie for u all to see. She is by far the most gentle, shy, sweet, playful, and lovely dog you've ever seen. I have seen those feisty little dogs but mine was certainly not one of them! I have literally only heard my dog bark a few times. She's so very quiet and laid back. In fact in the past, when's she's scarred she will pee. Never mind be aggressive! I told the manager that I would except that Full refund now & I proceeded to walk out! The manager was actually pretty friendly. I talked w/him outside the grooming area for a good ten mins and explained to him how when I first went in, I got the distinct vibe that his groomer clearly wanted to leave early and wasn't happy I was there. He actually played w/my dog and could see what a sweet girl she is.. He apologized for his groomers behavior but still I won't be returning. I told him that I wouldn't be back again if that particular groomer was working and requested for him to have the other female back. My Yorkie is 2 yrs old and has been getting groomed since she was a baby. She's a high maintenance dog and is used to getting groomed. So for god sakes, if ur going to make up a silly story, pick a breed that doesn't require a sany cut & haircut once a month! read more

Soooooooooo Donna and I take Nia and Kammi to petsmart in North Smithfield to get their nails cut. I tell the groomer Kammi can be a handful and she should start with Nia. This is after they again can't find Kammi's rabies certificate. I call petsmart Salem to get them to tell North Smithfield it is ok and Kammi has a cert. I turn around AND NIA IS BEING HUNG BY HER NECK FROM THE GROOMING TABLE. The groomer put the neck leash on her wasn't controlling her. I kick the little door that separates groomers from customers and save my baby. All groomer can babble is I'm sorry. Nia was whiny and didn't want her nails cut, the groomer should have been paying more attention. Needless to say petsmart gets no more business of any kind from us. read more

I went here before picking up my new dog. I told her what food the dog was eating at her foster home. She said they didn't carry that food but then suggested a similar alternative. Come to find out, what she suggested wasn't actually a good brand, in fact it was a pretty bad brand. I did not appreciate being lied to and will not go back. Ill just stick with petco. read more

I was super excited that PETsMART was opening this location in north Smithfield, but now am very disappointed. I spend thousands of dollars a month on pet foods and supplies as I work with a number of rescues and shelters and am a vet tech. I buy food by the case. I have visited this store twice and the staff was rude on each occasion. My last visit I was moving some loose cans of food to be able to remove a couple of cases from the shelves. In doing so, I knocked off a few cans by accident. Two gentlemen came to help me which was great, but the comments they made were anything but. At the end, I was basically told that I should have help each time I came into the store if I was this clumsy! It was uncalled for, rude, cruel and inappropriate. Nothing was damaged, in fact I purchased the cans that had fallen. Based on my experience and the other reviews here, I will not return read more
