Yelp reviews don't lie. George has been fixing jewelry for 33 years! He's super chill and provides professional level of customer service. Overall, it was a pleasant experience and George is really fun to talk to. If you ask, he thoroughly explains the details so you know what you're paying for. For mine, it was $5 for battery and $2 for pins. He fixed my watch as good as new. The band was completely detached from the case. If you're worried about getting ripped off, seriously, don't. I tried to give this map some tip, but didn't take any. The quote I got from Michael Kors was over $50. Definitely save your money and go to George!!! He puts his initials inside the watch. In case anything were to happen, you can go back and ask him to fix it again. *GoogleMaps directs you to 620 South Street, but make sure you go to 1113 Chestnut Street. There are other jewelers near my work, but I'm so happy I went out of my way to meet George.

"That lady over there," George says, "she's been coming here since she was 15." I was a little doubtful bringing my 300 dollar wind-up hamilton watch I got as a graduation present to this place. It was a small kiosk in the Galleria mall -- how much would the owner know about fixing watches? But I trusted my Yelp instinct given all the positive reviews. I walk up to the kiosk and there's George, his hands covered in grease and wearing magnifying glasses to fix watches with. He deftly opens the wind-up watch and stares at it -- I think I had wound it too tight (a metaphor, i know). A-ha, he says. There's a bent spring somewhere. He takes a tiny tool and moves the spring back a little, shakes the watch, and smiles. The watch starts ticking again. "It's a good watch," he says. I offer to pay him, and he shakes his head. The least I could do, I told him, was write this review. He has a guy he can send wind up watches to if it ever breaks, but for now it looks like I can just let it unwind for a day, and keep the winds to 10 - 14 a day, maximum. Life lesson from George.

Took my expensive 'good watch' here after the jeweler I purchased it from wanted to charge me $22 and send it out for 2 weeks! Looked up Yelp reviews when in the area and found Creative Silver. I came in after seeing all the yelp reviews as I was looking for a good place to repair some jewelry and get a battery replacement for some watches. George the owner approached me a soon as I came in and told me that the 3 watch batteries would be done within five minutes. He was very kind and personable and charged $5 for each battery which was great. I will definitely be back with some other jewelry for repairs. read more

He was quick and efficient to attend me and check two of my watches. The price is as good as it gets, $5.40 (and he even round it down when I payed him). I also trusted him a very delicate and valuable gold watch. He replaced the battery and adjusted it for me. He does give you a 10 month warranty on anything he does with your watch. Will return if I ever need any more watches-related work. read more

I was heartbroken when my newborn yanked my favorite necklace off my neck! I then consulted Yelp to find a jeweler to repair it. My fellow helpers did not disappoint! Rave review after review set the bar really high for this establishment. George greeted me warmly and asked me if I needed help. I showed him my necklace and my watch which needed a new battery. He quotes me several dollars and told me it would be done in 10 minutes, which made me ecstatic because I didn't want to leave it and come back since parking can be a bear on South street and I wear it everyday! He offered me a seat and we chatted as he repaired my items. He was so pleasant and my necklace doesn't look like it was manhandled by a baby! He gave me his card and said if anything goes wrong with my necklace, to bring it back! I'm so glad that George is right down the street from my house for any future fixes! With all of the small businesses in Philadelphia, it is rare to find a shopkeeper so congenial, talented, attentive, knowledgeable, and worth coming back for. George is as priceless as they come. I initially went in to find a piece of jewelry which she did not have in stock semicolon however, I remembered him and returned to have a necklace fixed which he did for a very reasonable rate and with a smile and a handshake. I could not have been happier with my experience at Creative Silver. George is incredibly personable and a master of his craft. Brought my Armani watch in for removal of links and replacement of the rear cover. The work was done in less than 5 minutes and George charged me $2. Similar work at other stores has cost me upwards of $15 in the past. Browsed the selection while waiting and saw some nice pieces at reasonable prices. I would recommend Creative Silver to anyone looking for jewelry/watch repair in Center City, and I will be back for some Christmas shopping. read more

Pro: Very fast and efficient Con: My watch battery was $7- other reviewers said they were charged $5. He said that mine was a "lithium ion" battery and that's why it is more expensive. Dunno. In the end, it's only $2, but I wish there were actually a posted price list. read more

When I came in to the store, I was just looking around and when the guy looked at me as if he was asking "what do you need?" I said "I just need the battery changed." The guy said "pass it over" and he just got right on it. The people here really know what they're doing and they do it quick. Also, it's at a good price, personally they change my battery for $7 and I was pretty satisfied. I'm definitely coming back to this place for my watches. read more

Came here to get my chain watch strap adjusted for a better fit. The man that runs the place, George, was super friendly and thanked me for waiting (there were about two people ahead of me). He took about a few minutes to adjust the chain and said if it doesn't fit right then come back in a few days and he will adjust it again for free since I should wear it for a few days and how it feels. I came back in two hours after running errands and got it adjusted again and he said exactly the same thing if I had a problem again. The total came out to $5 for the adjustment. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who has a watch issue or needs other jewelry cleaning/fixing needs. He is open 7 days a week and is located in the lower level of the Gallery right by Bath and Body Works and T-Mobile. read more

George is the man. Market east station was packed but he was super pleasant the whole time. He replaced one Swiss army battery for 5.40. He took the time to show me on his machine how my battery was dead and a new one wasn't. Another watch was messed up by a different jeweler and George was able to get the back plate to fit back on properly, which he did for no extra cost. I tried to tip him but he wouldn't accept it because he's the owner. I have a feeling he has to turn down tips a lot. I have found my go-to watch repair. Thanks George! read more

You can't help but love this place. Super cheap. Replaced batteries in three watches and engraved the back of another one I had purchased as a gift for the hubby for $35. Writes his initials and date inside the watches he replaces batteries on and gives you a 10 month warranty on the batteries from that date. read more

So I got a new watch for the holidays and needed to get it resized. I found Creative Silver on Yelp and the reviews are accurate. George was extremely friendly and he quickly removed the links from the new watch as well as replaced the battery on my old Movado. The Movado took a specialized battery he had to order so there was a slight delay on that watch. But all in all this is the best deal for battery and watch resizing in the city and surrounding areas. Don't even bother going anywhere else. read more

I was a sceptic...I read the yelp reviews and trusted my Tag Heurer to a complete stranger...instead of a $75 battery replacement, it ws $5.40 and works great...he explained that there's a washer inside and if that is damaged it needs to be sent out and replaced -mine was fine so $70 in my pocket! read more

When I came back just after 1 pm, there were a few other customers, so I had to wait 10 minutes or so, but the actual process of my watches being fixed was very quick and was only $10 total. Service was also very friendly. I would definitely come back for any watch repair needs. They currently have a notice on their door that they are closed on Thanksgiving and Black Friday this year.

For many years I've taken a number of items (usually Zippos or the odd pocket watch or two) for engraving. Three years ago I went in to have a Zippo engraved only to learn that the one guy in the entire store who can handle engraving was away. I went back three times over the course of three weeks until he was in. Ok, I put that aside until now. I was gifted a pen in early January and attempted to get it engraved. Here is what I encountered: 1. January-Solo engraver is on a two week vacation. 2. Two and a half weeks later I find out that solo engraver is opening another store in another state for a month plus. 3. I walk in to pinpoint that solo engraver would be on site today ( Monday, March 2nd) only to find the place closed! The only store in the mall that appeared to be closed. I will no longer recommend this establishment to anyone, especially if it's a time sensitive issue. I would select zero stars if possible.

Mine were my own tray of Guess and Gucci pieces whose batteries had expired, and a Bulova which needed some scratchy buffs removed and the heavy metal link band restored to its former greatness. The humble and friendly Hispanic man I worked with (possibly the owner, not sure) was extremely professional, courteous, insightful, and had an overwhelming desire to make sure your needs are met precisely to your specifications. He was an overall pleasure to work with. He made doubly sure that the watch I brought in fit me comfortably-- even if it look a bit more time tinkering around. He also replaced my watch battery in what seemed to be an instant. The best part about my experience was that everything cost me only a measly 10 dollars! The service here is nothing short of amazing. I have taken several watches to George to have links removed, crystals replaced, new bands, batteries installed etc. One time I literally had barely finished explaining my need for a battery before he had it replaced and ready for my wrist. There is also an astonishingly wide assortment of great silver jewelry for such a small stand. George was so friendly and honest. I went there to have the battery replaced in a watch that had stopped working. He opened the watch and said that the battery was still good but it was a little oxidized. So he cleaned the battery for free and now the watch works perfectly. I know many places that would have just replaced the battery and charged me anyways. I will definitely go back when I actually have to replace the battery next time. read more

The staff here was very knowledgeable and helped us pick out the perfect design for our bridal sets. We had support the staff full support and they answered any questions that we had. I used Creative Silver to repair a necklace based on the positive reviews I read here and let me tell you: he's wonderful. I gave him my necklace and he worked on it for a couple of minutes and handed it back to me good as new. And then he didn't charge me because "it didn't need to be soldered just the links tightened."
