Fico sells 35 different models to lenders possibly 36 with the addition of version 8. That means at any one time with the three major credit reporting companies you have 108 different fica scores. Furthermore, myfico products are misleading. All this to determine your credit worthiness with no regard to your income. The myfica monitoring scores products fico offers are almost useless. They are trying to sell you fico score ver 8 when most lenders are not using Version 8. For a mortgage I find lenders only using versions Beacon 5, Classic and ISAAC for mortgages and the only way to find out what those Fico scores are is to take a 5 point hit on your credit score by taking a hard pull on your credit and I do mean HARD. In practice, I found FICo products useless in the real world user1 - You think users of the MyFico forums are unlikely to know these things? We at least know that it's FICO, not fico or fico, and we know that phrases like "the lender "pulls" you credit report threw a "model" probably an algorithm" make no sense at all. If you hope to educate this vast collection of credit watchers, perhaps you should try educating yourself first. Wanted - Fico sells programs to its lenders to determine a person's creditworthiness. Lenders are banks, credit cards, people who loan you money. The programs are algorithms a mathematic equation and fico sells 35 programs called "models" to lenders to determine credit worthiness for different scenarios like credit cards, car loans, mortgages, etc. Now it sells 36 models with the addition of version 8. An algorithm is a mathematics equation and fica has determined that the information that makes up the equation is proprietary and will not disclose this information. When I say "pulls" I mean run the program against the info in ur credit report to determine your credit score for ur credit scenario. Lambs2 - I understand your frustration, but you have to understand that the information is out there. Most of what you said is not only inaccurate, but also serves no purpose. I get it, you are frustrated as you didn't get the information you were hoping to. Spend some time trying to understanding how credit and scores really work. Yes, there are many models of the FICO score. But that is not different than traffic laws. There are MANY different laws and signs which you must first learn before you can get a driver's license. You don't complain that there are too many signs, you just learn them and become a better driver.Many factors determine your credit worthiness, including income. FICO score does not determine your creditworthiness, it is simply a predictor of how LIKELY you are to get in financial trouble. Alone, the FICO scores are useless. A lot of other factors play a role in determining one's creditworthiness. Had you spent some time on here reading these posts, you'd know that those who truly understand credit (and thus FICO scores) advocate that focusing on paying your bills on time, and not carrying a balance unless absolutely necessary rather than focusing on the number which is generated by an algorithm. Take the time and learn about credit, just like you'd learn to get a driver's license. Wanted - I am not frustrated with my credit or in credit trouble, although someone close to me has a 45 point difference between her credit card worthiness and her mortgage worthiness. I have obtain my information from fico and myfico and stepped back to take a look at their system. If we all knew what when into the models or programs that fico sells there would be havoc. I do believe fico is attempting to fix the mess of their 35 model system with version 8, a one model for all credit scenarios solution. There lies a real problem because myfico will only sell u ver 8 credit monitoring, at present. They will not sell u your credit score for the older models. Hence u have no idea what ur credit score is because most lenders are using the older models and satisfied with the older models. That is my opinion and I say my fico products are useless in the real world. U claim of inaccuracy, although u have not pointed out one single inaccuracy. What models are you using? FICO has no idea what ur income is. How would they get this because the lender usually tells u ur credit score before they ask u your income. This is especially true in the scenario of a mortgage lender because Fanny and Freddy mandate u have to have above a certain credit score to qualify for a mortgage. Where would FICO get your income the credit reporting agencies do not have that info???? It takes time to verify ur income. The next time u go for ur drivers license, I'd study harder. I just researched myfico before I bought their product. Why doesn't fico post their users using version8???????
