I first attended one of Andrea's events at the Kona Brewery and loved it. For $45 we got a beer sampler (enough beer to make us feel like we could paint), an appetizer, all of the required supplies to create a 12 x16 canvas and 2 hours of painting instruction. Andrea was patient, encouraging and broke it down so that pretty much could create something to be proud - or at least not embarrassed of. I enjoyed this painting night so much that I decided to book Andrea for my upcoming Birthday party. For $30 a person with a party over 10, it was well worth it. She showed up on time - 30 minutes prior to the start time to set up, and like the event at Kona, provided us with simple, step by step instructions to create a masterpiece of choice. I had the best birthday painting party this past Sunday! I have to admit I was very skeptical that all invited would produce paintings worth of hanging, as the majority have not only never painted before but never have been inclined to paint. (In fact, two of my guests had thought we were painting a room in my house LOL.) We prepped the patio, arranging tables, worried about covering them to protect their surfaces, got soft drinks, some wine. Natalie arrived as promised: she had the tables covered, easels set up, supplies in place, including water cups to rinse and paper towels in no time flat! No stress! We had chosen the Heather Brown inspired seascape. If you are familiar with H. Brown's paintings, you know they're sort of stained glass like, with dark lines delineating colored areas. I had wondered about the different levels of skills present and the results until I saw that Natalie had predrawn the lines! Whew! She brought a sample for us to see and briefly explained we could redraw the lines later so don't worry about staying in the lines. Whew! She further explained that had she not drawn the lines it would probably take us more than the 2 hours allotted. I had worried about a few is us standing for 2 hours and had told Natalie to prepare for a loud and raucous crowd. No problem! Not only did the 2 hours fly by with nary a complaint but we were all quiet as mice!!!! Natalie quietly walked around unobtrusively, providing encouragement and more paint. We went over by about half an hour but Natalie graciously did not complain. We helped her gather her things and clean up but I'm sure she would've done it all herself. I felt bad about going over. She provided table coverings, aprons, paint brushes in various sizes, water in cups for rinsing, plates of paint, preset, paper towels for clean up, easels and predrawn canvases. NOTHING was left to provide! Natalie was friendly, kind, polite, clean, efficient & was never overbearing. She was a peach! I highly recommend this company and would gladly attend again. read more

My mother got me hyped about this event for the entire week and it exceeded my excitement! All 5 of my family members joined Andrea at Summerfest in Kailua for the koi pond painting. The experience, itself was so positive. Andrea was patient and encouraging, which was definitely needed for our paintbrush wielding attempts. My family bonded very well, which was a pleasant contrast to the usual yelling matches and door slamming we're so used to. That morning, I wasn't in the best mood. Call it art therapy or whatever but during the painting, I DIDN'T want to rip anyone's head off! After the class, we were on a such a painting-high (euphoria not fumes) that we went to a store and loaded up on craft paint and paintbrushes. It's fast becoming a beloved family activity; right up there with sitting on the couch and doing nothing productive. I heard she does classes with alcohol involved. I just had a painting birthday party with 13 or so of my friends in early December 2013 with Andrea (the artist) and Create-a-Canvas, and it was AWESOME! While creating a masterpiece that I never really thought I could create was pretty cool, the entire experience was really positive and fun. Andrea came to us in Kailua and provided all of the materials (canvases, table cloths, paint brushes, water cups, paint) and sample paintings and designs. She also brought blank canvases and some canvases with light pencil designs for those of us with less confidence in our artistic sides. She took the time to walk us through the painting step-by-step and gave us tips and suggestions if we wanted to get a little free with our designs. Andrea was very encouraging and provided a safe environment for us to just play with our creativity. Thank you! On another note, I have been working a lot with Andrea since just before this birthday party experience to set-up a FUNdraiser for my church's youth group. A lot of times exchanging e-mails and Facebook messages can turn in to a logistical nightmare, but Andrea has excellent communication! She is very responsive, is flexible, and great to work with. I bought the Amazon Local deal for this and thought my boyfriend would give it a try. I ended up accidentally paying twice and booking 4 slots instead of just two, but Andrea was sooooo helpful and said it wouldn't be difficult to refund me. Instead I opted to bring another couple with us so it all worker out. I have to say we were very impressed with the wine and the painting instruction. You stand the whole two hours, but honestly it doesn't even feel like it. I have bad knees and I didn't have to sit once! I was too engrossed in my painting. If you're worried about the wine samples being too small you don't have to worry, the shop worker goes around every few minutes asking if you want more and giving very generous servings. We brought our own alcohol, but frankly we didn't even need it (unless you don't care for wine). Andrea gives step by step instructions and even walks around and gives input if you ask, she was very polite and helpful. Even my boyfriend, who really isn't very creative when it comes to arts, painted a wonderful piece. We will be hanging it up in our living room soon. Definitely going back. read more

What an awesome experience! My friend and I participated in our very first paint party this past Tuesday at the Kona Brewing Company in Hawai'i Kai. We had so much fun! At first, I was a little skeptical that I could paint what we were supposed to paint. I really appreciated the time that Andrea took to ensure each individual knew what she was supposed to do. Very professional, easy to get in contact with, arrived on time, super nice, and most importantly she was able to teach our non-artistic family (well most of us) a really cute peacock painting. When many of us first saw the picture of what we were going to paint many of us thought "That's too hard". But it was actually easy! She helped us along the way. Fixed our mistakes. So fun!! I participated in a Create A Canvas party hosted by some girlfriends without having any idea what we would be doing. Andrea, the owner, provided us with such a great program and awesome painting tips. We all found our inner artiste!! For me, it was such an enjoyable escape from my daily work life....I really got out of my head. We all shared in the process, looking at each other's paintings during the various stages.
