Creamy ice cream and the waffle cones are crisp and fresh since they make them there. The store is on the smaller side with a few tables to sit down at. There was 10 or 12 flavors and we got Basil and Cookies and Cream. They offer a few sizes at really good prices. read more

Great summertime spot to grab a small cup of ice cold sweetness and stroll Main Street. So many flavors sounded delicious but we both ordered the coffee chocolate chip and it did not disappoint. I LOVE LOVE LOVE that they use compostable containers and wooden spoons. It shows that business can do this and survive, even in a small town. read more

This gem of an ice cream parlor was quite a find. Recommended by our server at a nearby restaurant. As we walked down the street towards the place we kept seeing people with ice cream cones (and cups) in their hands. We would ask, and they would enthusiastically reply, "its just down the street! You have too go there! " This happened a few times. As we approached, we saw a large gathering of people, (aaugh, long lines), but no. When we sauntered to the store the line had receded and we were quickly served. The establishment is a small time establishment, but big on quality. The balsamic strawberry was fantastic as were the peanut butter fudge. This business will be seeing me a few more times this week during my vacation. read more

Stopped by ice cream truck in Home Slice parking lot to pick up 2 pints of vegan chocolate ice cream. Was told they no longer had it there but they did have cookies and cream and peanut butter fudge. Okay no problem may I have a sample of the peanut butter fudge to see if I like that one instead. NO you may not! Understand samples can be costly but if you don't have what I came for? Very delicious ice cream with good serving sizes. The selection of flavors is both very good and adventurous. My mother is completely dairy free and gluten free, and when she saw the flavors on the vegan menu she had to ask to make sure they were gluten free and dairy free, as she was in disbelief that such good options were possible. We've been back two nights in a row, as my mother and now my older sister are incredibly glad to have found good vegan ice cream that isn't just a sorbet. To be noted, the vegan peanut butter fudge was amazing and so was the vegan cookies and cream. read more

Wow. This is the kinda place you hope to stumble upon. Passing by through town post train ride, I called to see if they made banana splits... they didn't, however Grace graciously (ha) offered to make one if we brought our own banana. BYOB. Well we did and boom Grace was excited and pumped to see us. I went with the almond fudge something ice cream and the girlfriend went with the berry crumble ice cream. The ice cream and most of the toppings are organic. Whipped cream made in house. The love, attention to detail, and the care that went into making such a tiny part of my day has paid off. This one will definitely go down in my book as the best banana split that I've had yet (amateur banana split critic over here). This was the cherry-on-top of my Durango visit. My son got a scoop of the vegan cookies and cream at the cart by Zia. Unfortunately your menu board highlights it is "dairy free". It does not highlight that it contains nuts. He spent 4 scary hours in the Mercy ER due to a nut allergy. Please include this in your menu board, if you aren't "vegan", you may not know that those products are made with nut milk! read more

VEGAN ICE CREAM. What?! An ice cream excursion I can actually be excited about? And order something?? It doesn't even taste like vegan y'all. Seriously. The peanut butter chocolate was the greatest ice cream on earth I'm pretty sure. I did have tiny bites of the "real" ice cream. My daughters got "balsamic" strawberry and the cobbler. The balsamic was undetectable if you're worried about that, it's amazing regular strawberry. And my husband got the grasshopper. They liked it but declared my peanut butter was the best, so which is the "real" ice cream now? read more

Hands down the best ice cream I've ever gotten at a shop! And in the perfect downtown location. I got the coconut milk chocolate (vegan!) and the texture was that of a luscious, decadent gelato and the flavor was purely an aromatic chocolate that just got better with every bite. It was rich, but didn't upset my stomach or make me feel like I was having "too much." It was that good to where one scoop was satisfying enough, yet I am planning to come back tomorrow for more. The shop uses recyclable paper cups and offers wooden spoons, too, which is an awesome addiction! They offer waffle, sugar, cake, and gluten free sugar cones. :) Every day they have a menu out front with their daily flavors. If you're interested in checking them out, you can go outside of the shop or onto their Facebook page where they'll usually update what's being served. :) I'm recommending this little gem to everyone I know in CO! read more

We popped in Cream Bean Berry to grab an afternoon treat. Our group picked cherry ice cream, affogato, and a grape soda float; everything was delicious. We stopped in about 8:30 on a Saturday night and this line was down the sidewalk! Pretty sure everyone in Durango was here, we hopped in line, had a gentleman playing the guitar and singing, line went pretty fast, maybe 10min in line. Ice cream was perfect! Had the balsamic strawberry and berry crisp in their home made waffle cone-do it!! Excellent! They and some vegan and non dairy options too, some baked goods. Even though it was busy, very chill! You must have ice cream here if you're going to have any ice cream at all. Small little place with a limited selection of house made ice cream using real ingredients like cream, milk and sugar and seasonal fruit. They also make other things like ice cream cookie sandwiches and they also have regular cones and then house made sugar cones So I got their cherry chevre which is goat milk and it was divine! One generous scoop in their delicious house made waffle cone and I was in heaven... Staff was friendly, helpful and quick and we sat down and all enjoyed our delicious cones there inside. Don't bother with Dreyers or Thrifty ice cream or even Cold Stone, this stuff is the real deal and you'll thank me I urged you to visit. ;) read more

We absolutely LOVE Cream Bean Berry!!! We always enjoy their unique flavors. We ordered through DoorDash for the first time recently and they forgot part of our order. The employee at CBB called me to let me know she was bringing it to my house and apologized profusely! I told her she didn't have to, but she insisted! She showed up not, only with our missing ice cream, but a gift card and some extra treats too! To say we were impressed is an understatement!! read more

I love that Durango has a craft ice cream place. And, Cream Bean is my usual go-to when I'm downtown and hankering for some ice cream (even in winter)! I love the thought that goes into the craft flavors and have yet to be disappointed. The ice cream is always nice and silky, and Cream Bean doesn't skimp when it comes to ingredients. Yes, they are pricier then a Coldstone of frozen yogurt place, but it's also because the ice creams are handcrafted. Plus the fact that Cream Bean operates with environmental sustainability in mind. I'd rather pay a bit more and patron a place that takes such things seriously as part of their business practice then a large chain that pays no mind to their footprint. Also, while I'm not vegan, I love that Cream Bean has daily flavors for those who don't do dairy. And, trust me, they are just as good as the rest. read more

Wish I could agree with the majority here, but just was not a fan. Prices were very high and the taste missed the mark with my family. We love our ice cream and when it comes to this tasty treat, I think we are easy to please. Today's ice cream experience was just NOT good though In total, we tried the salted caramel, real mint chocolate chip, Belgian chocolate, and cherry chocolate swirl. Here our my thoughts: -Belgian chocolate- okay, had a nice strong chocolate flavor. -salted caramel- good with a nice salty flavor -cherry chocolate swirl-something was just off. Cherry had kind of an odd flavor. Not bad but not good. -real mint-not good. I have had real mint before, a couple of days ago for that matter, but this one tasted like crest toothpaste. I understand it can be a hit or miss flavor and I generally like it but not this one. Overall, for $6 for two scoops I expect artisan ice cream to be on point and was disappointed today. My wife actually discarded her mint. For my wife to do that, something was off with that flavor. I think 2.5 is appropriate score here but after reading my own review I will bump my two to a three. Or maybe not. Dang, can't decide. Okay going back to two. read more

This place is very good but what absolutely keep me away was how knowledgeable the staff was on ingredients. My son has severe good allergies to egg, peanuts, soy and treenuts. I haven't found an ice cream shop I get comfortable eating at. Being egg and soy free is amazing. I asked staff to use a fresh scooper and they didn't hesitate for a second! Well, we fell in love with Durango, Colorado. Cream Bean Berry was one of the many reasons why. While a single scoop is pricey ($4.99 each), it is fresh, housemade ice cream and it is basically a double scoop. They even have gluten-free sugar cones! I can't speak to the quality of the ice cream because our trip to the ER overshadowed any enjoyment. No signage about allergens near the ice cream case, so we thought we were safe. I understand all about cross contamination but WHO BLENDS NUTS IN COOKIES AND CREAM AND DOESN'T LABEL IT? After a few bites, my 13 yo said her throat felt funny. Water dispenser was empty so I asked employee for water from the tap which she got for us grudgingly. While my daughter was drinking the water I asked if there were nuts in the cookies and cream. She said they use cashews in it. I handed her the unfinished cone and we headed straight to the hospital. Thankfully all turned out well. read more

Got on Yelp, found 636 well rated nearby and the menu looked wonderful. Got here to a healthy amount of patrons and warm ambiance/atmosphere. Service was great despite me being an annoying tourist. I tried every dish we had plus the hot rolls, which have a buttery pimento dip. Everyone agreed that the food was spectacular. Of all the things to love about 636 (which there are many), my favorite is that when I mentioned our anniversary to the lady, she said "Oh! I'll get the anniversary confetti!" My wife and our friend's wife both ordered a pasta dish with sliced steak and spinach. My friend had a salad with salmon and a bowl of soup, and I ordered the filet with potato lasagna and spinach. As the evening went on, it became breezy and chilly. I asked another server if the patio heater could be turned on, and someone came over right away to help, which we appreciated. When our meals arrived, everything looked excellent and tasted very good. The food was definitely the highlight of the evening. Unfortunately, our server only stopped by our table once during the entire meal to check on us and it was lien she was in a rush to leave to table. We spent a long time waiting to see if she would ask whether we needed anything or if we were finished. It wasn't as though she had to go out of her way to reach us--she walked past our table numerous times while serving her other tables. Because of the lack of attention, I once again had to get her attention to let her know we were finished and ask for a dessert menu. I ordered the Dubai Chocolate dessert to go after she highly recommended it. Unfortunately, it did not live up to the description once I had a chance to eat it. The chocolate flavor was very mild, and the crunchy layer on the bottom was not particularly enjoyable nothing like a Dubai Chocolate. Overall, the food was excellent and deserving of praise. However, for a fine dining restaurant where both the food and drinks come at premium prices, the service fell well short of expectations. Great meals can make for a memorable evening, but attentive service is an important part of the fine dining experience, and unfortunately that was missing during our visit.
