He tried to sell fake baseballs with COAs. All the COAs he posts are from made up companies which im sure he has a buddy he colludes with. The fact that they dont offer reserves on such high profile items like a babe ruth baseball signed for as little as $500 is proof he's in on it. He is a long-con and will do anything to take your money. AVOID ! Here is a link for others who have done their research. "Crazy Richard" lists items to get people interested, yet no reserves on something that you know will sell for 30x the value. This is over half a year ago someone already warning about his shady deals. https://www.reddit.com/r/baseballcards/s/AJmCD2eS0X He will deny everything and claim the COAs are good, but if you look at his auction history - anything that has MDA forensic which is a new name for "park place authentication" which was shutdown in 2023 all tie to fakes. You also don't get access to this type of museum quality and rare collectibles and list on "hibid". I was lucky to bail out of my transaction since I only thought I was putting a minimum bid and didn't realize that the min would win since no bidders. I'm just trying to create awareness that this guy is a con artist and definitely trying to pull some shady business on auctions sites. I've seen him on HiBid and LiveAuctioneers and he is not getting access to these types of items to sell for pennys on the dollar. Look up the address on the crappy website MDA Forensics lists as their business address. Not registered to this business. SCAM ALERT ! read more

I have contacted Mr. Gottfried numerous time to get my money and purchased merchandise back and he has not responded. I spent 11,875.00 and have the balls evaluated by JA Spence who is very well known in authentication and the results are in writing and not authentic. I paid 3,915.00 for this report to authenticate and have sent the balls and reports for Rich to examine. He had sent a letter saying the balls were authentic but had no proof from any reputable firm such as JA Spence. Now I can't contact him by e-mail or by the phone. Stay away! I see that Rich, the owner responded-- I went online and read the reviews about his company and that he sells fake baseballs with COAs according to Peter M and & Doug T. Rich has not provided any documentation from a reputable firm such as JA Spence or Beckett to back up the authentication of the baseballs. I went to JA Spence upon reading comments from various people on the reviews. I spent over 3,900.00 from JA Spence and sent them to Rich with a response that they are well respected but not the sole or final authority. JSA is the premiere autograph service, spenceloa.com where you can read about their authentication process-- Every item is methodically examined and reviewed by our authenticators to ensure their expert impressions are in agreement. Each signature is compared to the world's largest autograph exemplar library which helps confirm or deny its legitimacy. The authenticators then collaborate and employ a scoring system for the final determination of an item's authenticity. Certified items are then given a registration number and a tamper-evident label. Items that fail our strict examination standards for certification are returned with a failure letter detailing the inconsistencies. In cases where closer examination is required, JSA employs the Video Spectral Comparator (VSC) to reinforce the expert's findings. This state-of-the-art authentication tool is a powerful workstation that uses sophisticated color and infrared imaging, magnification, coaxial lighting, side lighting, and on-screen, side-by-side or overlaid autograph comparisons. In doing so, the VSC can detect erasures, reveal masked and obliterated signatures, differences in ink types, and several other signs common in autograph forgeries which cannot be detected by the naked eye. Folks you be the judge-- If it's too good to be true, then walk away! Look no further than Crazy Richard sold it reviews and complaints and you be the judge. Unfortunately, I did not until I was out 11,875.00 and now I want my money back for unauthenticated balls that are useless to me and my grandchildren. read more

! Avoid this guy at all costs! Everything described by other 1 star reviews is true. My Items that were sold on Ebay for over $3,000 in April and May 2022 were NOT included in the recent check I received after writing my first Yelp review. Richard will send you a stapled copy of sold items. That packet added up to more than $700. Richard added the packet to be $611.00. I agree with reviewer Johnny J that Richard uses a variety of tactics to not pay customers who consign, what is due. Sterling silver sold FOR $3,000 on May 16th, but Richard conveniently did not include that item in the list of sold items to be paid. Nothing was defective or broken as each item was inspected before it was accepted. The 30 day return period is over. Reviewer JT writes that she felt like her items were stolen. After 8 phone calls and 2 visits to the store I finally received a very small underpaid check which did not include at least 6 larger ebay sales shorting me in excess of $1500. It is easy to sell on ebay and get good reviews and lower your prices to undersell the market when you do not pay for the items you have sold online. As Johnny J wrote in his review: The problem is he's stealing or understating the sales price to the people that really own the items and the Ebay buyers don't know that therefore he has a good Ebay rating. Avoid this guy at all costs! read more

Bought an autographed Clemente Ball - $1,800.00. Sent it to Beckett for authentification. They said it was fraudulent. Left a bad review. He, Crooked Dick, said he would reimburse me if I sent him the ball. Once he had the ball, he said he would not reimburse me until I removed my feed back. Crooked Dick Sold It - sucks! stay away! read more

I've been trying to get money for items sold for months. Called the store many times, only spoke to a person once. Left messages all the other times. I was asking for my money or the return of items that I left there for sale. Finally got my check a few days ago. I deposited the check and it was returned with a $12 fee because there were no funds to cover the check!!!! I just called to tell them that I want my money and I want them them to give me the $12 the bank charged me for their no good check! I'm done with them once I get my money. I left several 45 RPM records with them, mostly Elvis and Beatles. When I spoke to a person, she said she couldn't find any accounting of what I left there. She said she'd call back but never did. read more

Consigned a bunch of stuff, some of it quite valuable with Crazy Richard Gottfried (owner of Crazy Richard Sold It). I only saw a tiny fraction of the money because Richard used a variety of techniques to avoid paying me. He claimed some of the items he took, he never received. Others he claimed were broken, defective or worthless and that he had to dispose of them (note he did not have my permission or authorization to dispose of anything). Others he understated the sales price of the items, I know because I found them sold on his Ebay for far higher prices than he claimed he sold them for. I received a few hundred bucks for several thousand dollars worth of items. He always like to point to his stellar Ebay seller rating as proof that he's on the up and up. Of course anybody selling good quality stuff for cheap prices on Ebay will have a good rating. The problem is he's stealing or understating the sales price to the people that really own the items and the Ebay buyers don't know that therefore he has a good Ebay rating, that doesn't mean he deserves it though! Be careful of these people. We brought in a number of items to this store to be put up. We were told that they don't call you when something sells, you need to call them and check. A month later I call and was told that they did not get the items up yet but were about to do it. Fast forward to 2 months later. I have called them 5 times. Each time I get no answer. I left messages and no response. I'm stating to think my items were stolen and they have no intention of paying me. AVOID THESE GUYS AT ALL COST!!! read more

Richard and his team are great! They're always very helpful when I go in and they are very knowledgeable about consignment!

i gave richard a legitimate judith ripka necklace that i purchased at her store in atlantic city. i paid 800 for it. i wanted 300-350 for it. it did not sell right away and i told him that i wanted the necklace back. he encouraged me to leave it with him. he then sold it on ebay for 150. and gave the buyer 25. back because she claimed it was not legitimate. he never notified me and had the nerve to sell it as an unreal item. i have the receipt. let's talk about getting paid. i had to call him 4 times to receive a check,. avoid him like the plaque read more

I agree totally with Kibret,M, and JT. This man is an expert at dealing and wheeling a deal... I thought I would do business with the man only to find... He is not a man of his word. I left items for him to sell . He called a few days later to say he had people interested in the items, but wanted to pay me less then my lowest amount I wanted for the items. I said, NO. I had my boss go by there and see what was up about a week later. My Boss told him I wanted a certain amount for the items. He said ok. So I looked each week on his website and ebay... My items were no where to be seen. Finally 4 weeks later I call him and he said, what about my items? They aren't on your website or ebay? He said, OH, I told your boss we sold them for your lowest amount you wanted. I said, so when do I get my check. He said, I will send it out right away. 2 weeks go by, No CHECK. My Boss stopped in and asked him what was up? He said, Oh, I have it right here.... He did not. He wrote it and gave it to my boss. My Boss brought it to me and said, RUN to the bank and cash it!!! I don't trust this. SO if you do have him sell items.. remember the first paragraph on the page you sign. He can sell it out right to someone else and make more money without you even knowing what your items went for in reality. He is a true crook at this con. His partner is a Lawyer or he was a lawyer... I was told by another person in the area. JUST BE WARE OF THIS TYPE OF CROOKED PERSON. Funny he is allowed to do this and stay in business. And those that wrote positive things are related or only purchased items. hummm read more
