I had a great experience with their Labor Day Sale deal. It was 20% off the whole store and I found some reasonably priced items that were in great condition and did not look worn at all. I found the prices to be pretty reasonable for consignment, but with the discount it was even better. The items were not trendy yet mature, but not so much that the clothing was bland - lots of Zara, J Crew, Free People. All of the staff were quite nice as well. I will definitely be back. read more

What needs improve, is this organization not being bias to those who are selling (or attempting) to you. I dropped of 3 leather purses, 1 was Vince Camuto, 1 was a Madwell, the other was a Noir (black designer). The latter was never used, Madwell was not even used for a season and the Vince, rarely used. My point, none of these showed any evidence of wear. They have been classified as "excellent". When I returned to the store, they told me "they were too pre-loved" so they refused my sell. That is a/k/a for, we are not selling to "you"because you don't "fit the profile" of who we want our customers to benefit from. This is not the first time I took items to them to sell but when I took them to a consignment store in Adrmore, they immediately place a price on them and sold them. This place is a straight up waste of time!!!! if I could give you zero stars, I would! The way they insult you with their offers is absolutely ridiculous. I just bought two brand new Fashion Nova pantssuits never been worn tags still on them (purchased earlier this year)..... both in season; but I waited too long to return them and they're both too big. That's the only reason why I decided to do this because there's nothing wrong with either of them. They just tried to offer me $8! I said I know you lying?? B I can't even get 2 gallons of gas now for eight dolars. Who do they think people are ,crackheads or something??? I said give me back my stuff please! All gonna do is just take them to the cleaners. We came across this place while looking for thrift stores and secondhand shops, as we're trying to reduce our environmental impact by minimizing the amount of new clothes that we buy. This is a big store with a decently curated selection of clothes. Like many stores of this ilk, there was far more women's clothing than men's. As a consignment shop rather than a thrift store that benefits from donations, the prices here are higher than what you might find at a Goodwill or Salvation Army store. There were some bargains to be found, nevertheless. Overall the quality and cleanliness of the items were good. Staff was friendly, though they were mostly preoccupied with people bringing in their used clothing and (I assume) negotiating reasonable prices with them. They offer to pay for your clothes but you have to drop off and come back. I did so and they could not accept anything I brought. Confused as some of the things I brought in were better than what they had on offer. Will not bring items there again. That said, I did find a NWT cashmere sweater for about $20. read more

This place is super lame! I walk in to bring my clothes and when I am dressed better than the staff I question their ability to assess my like new clothing. If you want to get $3 to $4 per item regardless of the tag being $60 or $200, this is the place for you. I thought I was on the show Boiling Points or Candid Camera when the one staff member decided that it would be a good time to conduct a podcast. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Get back to the counter and under assess the value of my clothing. Also, make sure you wait while they waste your time for you will get punished for leaving the store to wait for your items to be cashed out. You will lose your place even if you sit in your car....really? So instead I walked around the nasty store with junky clothes that should have been thrown in the dumpster. I brought 2 bins of neatly folded clothes to the Springfield store today, about 30 items. I was sent a text about 2 hours later. When I got to the store I was told they didn't want anything. The clothes I brought in were better quality than 90% of the ones on the racks. As I was given back my items, I saw that they were exactly as I had brought them in, folded the same way and in the same order. There is no way anyone went through them and looked at them. I noticed there were many clothes behind the counter and I can only assume they didn't want to put in the effort. What a waste of my time! I will take them to Green Street Consignment in Bryn Mawr where they have always taken 75% of what I bring in. read more

This review is for buying. The staff was really nice and friendly. The store was huge and EVERYTHING was VERY organized. Clothes were organized by type .. then size and then color. very impressive. There were so many cool items that were super cute and fairly priced especially since it looked new. You can tell they are picky with their stuff as the shelves had nice items. I'm shocked about the negative reviews. When I read them it looks like most of the negative reviews are with people trying to sell their items as they think their items are worth more then the store is trying to give them. I guess they forgot there is overhead and rent to pay so there has to be a mark up. Oh well. Anyway... the items I saw were fairly priced and while I didn't need anything today I did want to check it this place out. I ended up with a new looking Coach bag. I'll definitely be back. read more

I was eager to go to this particular site in Springfield and I took several items bags up-to-date bags a pair of Burberry slides also a pair of Chanel Kansas sneakers so I was told at the end of the day I be with an offer I was actually text with the offer not a physical phone call when I looked at the text. they indicated $117 for Chanel that were almost $1000 plus tax at Saks Fifth Avenue. I had two MCM bags as I stated before they wanted to give me $57 for a Crossbody bag. It was a very bag. I 650 for this bag 5750 this is what the offer was. My other MCM bag was like a tote bag for that bag. I paid like almost 550 they were offering me 50+ dollars as well. I clothing with tags on them from Fashion Nova. I wasn't looking to get rich off of these items, but each item that I had which was about 10 pieces of clothing also a Crossbody bag brand new all of those items they were offering $20 so roughly for all of those things it wasn't even $300. Very rude staff this past weekend!!! The store was empty and there was one gal working the front and one other gal just going back and forth from the back of the store! I waited 3 hours and they only took a handful of my things (all of which had store tags on them!) I'm too embarrassed to type what they offered me for those new designer items! During that long period of time, I did hear the front desk gal talk alot more nicely to some customers to the point of saying, they would be next! I went in for a Memorial Day sale and got some excellent deals! Customer service was friendly and the selection was great. I left off one star because they forgot to give me the discount and I had to come back to the store after I got home to get refunded. They did it with no fuss but it would've been great to get a sorry for the inconvenience. Instead the cashier seemed somewhat agitated that she had to do it. I have tried to sell clothes and jewelry here in a number of occasions. Brands like Loft, Banana Rep, Lucky Brand, etc. I have never been treated well in this store. The girls behind the counter are snobbyI and l have been made to feel like my clothes are worthless, out of style and ugly. I've left the store basically feeling humiliated. The last time I was there, I brought an entire basket of clothes and shoes that were barely worn and a bunch of costume jewelry and they didn't accept even one item in the basket -not one!!!! In fact they said that the necklaces were "statement pieces" and not "in." Is it all jewelry trying to make a statement? I will never, ever step foot in that store again. consider this my "statement piece." read more

I've definitely found some treasures at this store. Staff is usually friendly and help you shop by getting you started with a fitting room so you dont have to hold your items and you sort through the racks. Speaking of racks, they PACK them tight and on top of this, the store feels a bit cramped. Seems like they're trying to get as much merch on the floor, but this makes it a little hard to shop. Not crazy about the 6 item limit for the fitting room but whatever. Store is clean and though cramped, its overall well organized. Quality of merchandise is good to very good. As a seller the biggest drawback is that the payout is not that great. I find that Style Encore (just down the road) gives a better payout. I go there once a month on average. read more

I've been selling and shopping at multiple Clothes Mentor locations in the area for several years now but I feel like my experiences are getting worse. The wait times have never been fantastic and the payouts were low but it was a great alternative to a goodwill donation. However, I think I'm done selling here after my latest experience. I dropped off a basket of clothing and shoes at 315 and told the employee I planned to come back in about 25 minutes after I dropped my boyfriend off at work up the street. She explained that my basket would be entered as a drop off since I was leaving the store and that they couldn't give me a projected time frame as to when the buy would be finished. Ok, fine. I came back to the store at 345 and (stupidly, wrongly) assumed that since I was now present in the store again that my buy would be processed shortly. I shopped around a bit and then sat and waited and 40 minutes later, my basket still hadn't been touched. I told a different employee that I needed my basket back because I couldn't wait any longer. It was 430 when I left. The employees didn't really seem to care and didn't offer an apology. Thankfully, there are other options to sell my unwanted items. Style Encore is right up the street in Drexel Hill and not only do they finish my buys in record time and do not have an issue with me leaving to drop my boyfriend off and coming right back, but their payouts are almost double what clothes mentor has paid me for similar items. Like I said, this wasn't my first negative experience with Clothes Mentor but after giving multiple "second chances" and continually being unhappy, I'm done. This is clearly an ongoing problem and hopefully after hearing from multiple unhappy customers they can figure out how to streamline the buying process to make it faster like other stores with similar business models have accomplished. read more

Clean, organized second hand store. You can find some great items at a fairly reasonable price. Just double check before you purchase I almost purchased and item with stains on it...definitely would have ruined the experience. I'm torn. Their selection, in my opinion, is 60% outdated and out of style, but if you comb through the racks of clothes, you can sometimes find great deals on very nice dresses from brands such as LOFT, J. Crew, and Banana Republic. So, as a buyer, I am content and will most likely come back once in a while. As a seller, however, I will take my business somewhere else. I have brought to them perfectly nice, modern clothes from J. Crew, Loft, Ann Taylor, Express, etc. They are weirdly picky about the clothes they accept, and they would give reason such as "it's not in style" or "it's not up to date", when in fact, the clothes that I am bringing them are much newer than the clothes they have in store. And, in the rare occasion that they do accept the clothes, they offer you no more than a few bucks. In sum, I recommend going here to buy clothes if you are adventurous enough to do a little treasure hunting, but as a seller, you are better off donating them to a better cause. read more

I give this place 3.5 stars. Overall, the store is okay. Selection: The selection of clothing is more for older women or for any one looking for business , business casual clothing. There is a good selection of petite sized clothing as well. I love the jewelry selection! A lot of vintage and unique pieces. They also sell brand name jewelry such as Tiffany & Co., Hermes, and Juicy Couture. Selling: I brought a lot of clothes and designer bags such as Gucci, Kate Spade, and Guess but they said my bags were not in style within the last few years. I came to CM looking for work clothes. My first choice for consignment shopping is Plato's Closet, but they're not a good choice if you need clothes that won't make you look like a teenybopper. I wanted to make a good impression at my new job, so I stopped in here yesterday and picked up some career wear, namely, four tops. As a previous reviewer mentioned, most of their clothing is rather matronly. The tops I bought are all boatnecks, the kind of tops mostly favored by menopausal women to keep from getting overheated by hot flashes. But hey, they look great with dress pants, and I can always wear a scarf to cover up the drafty necklines and give the tops a more youthful look. For about $40 I got four cute tops for work. All were clean and in good condition; two still had their original store tags! I'm deducting two stars for the atmosphere. The staff was friendly, but I couldn't shake the feeling that they had a whip cracked over them to be that way. I've worked in enough environments in my time to know slave driving when I see it. I saw a man behind the counter who had a proprietary air about him, and I guessed he was the owner, especially judging by how he kept checking the cash registers (as if he feared theft from his employees) and also by how cowed the staff seemed when he was around. I found the staff to be friendly and helpful...got a few offers to hold items for me so I didn't have to hold things in my hands. The store is really spacious and well organized. There seemed to be a good selection of clothes and shoes. My only issue is that I wear plus sizes and while there was a pretty decent selection, most of it was not my style...at all. Good place to find work clothes, but not too much trendy, fashion forward stuff. I ended up with a blue sweater for my fall wardrobe. I think the prices were reasonable as well. Yeah.... legitimately every single time I have sold to Clothes Mentor they didn't want half of my lightly worn clothes because they were "junior brands". Offered me THREE DOLLARS FOR A LILY PULITZER DRESS. Also they take a decade to go through your clothes for them only to take 5 things out of 20. AND the clothes on their racks are dirty looking with make up and the shoes look the same. If you want to sell to and actually get money, goto buffalo exchange in philly. I found it extremely disappointing with the blatant disregard shown to African American customers vs Caucasian customers. One young lady consistently greeted the Caucasian customers from across the room but when I, an AA customer entered the young lady said nothing. It's definitively not surprising considering the area.
