Crazy noodles has good food but it's nothing really that special. I've ate here twice now and I don't really have the need to return, unless someone I'm with wants to come here. There are just so many other great places to eat in the center of Amherst that I often forget about this place. Almost all of the Asian restaurants have great food and I would rather eat and spend my money somewhere else. Don't get me wrong, I think Crazy Noodles does have good food, it's just that they don't have enough variety on the menu besides dishes with various noodles to keep them interesting. I will say however, they do have really nice lunch meals for a good price. Usually if I wanted noodles I would eat at Miss Saigon, but if you aren't in the mood for Pho and other dishes like that, than I would suggest trying here. read more

Everyone gives this place so much crap for the sake of its name itself, but you must be crazy to not enjoy eating dirt cheap noodles that actually tastes pretty damn good. I used to come here every friday night after a long week of classes, whether it was with my friends or by myself. I have always received large portions of food for less than $10 and they have these cool stamp cards if you can use (buy 10, get one main dish free). I would recommend you eat here if you're a poor college student. I stick with their pad thai and Cambodian noodle dish but I also tried their curries and they're pretty good. I unfortunately did not get to try their food until my last semester of college and I deeply regret being so deterred by their name and slightly ratchet outer appearance, especially when they're competing next to the oh so fancy pasta e Basta. If you have a dinner to spare, try their Cambodian soup dish for your first time and it'll have you hooked for more. They give such generous servings, I can almost never finish one. read more

I dropped by here for a drink twice probably a year or two ago, thai iced tea and some sort of fruit smoothie. I remember the thai ice tea being okay, not as good as Boston's chinatown, but by amherst standards, okay and the shake, i forgot what I thought about it. So we came on Patriots day around 7ish since the viet noodle place in amherst was closed, so decided to come here. My friend and I shared 2 entrees, the pad woon sen ($8+) with steak added (+1.25) and the basil fried rice (+1??) with a total of $17+ Since I had read reviews here, I knew you had to seat yourself and order at the counter. My friend and I were staring at the menu for a long time, and the host did acknowledge us and said bye to patrons that were leaving. After a while, I just asked her what people ordered the most, and she delightfully answered me and even pointed out some dishes that weren't on that huge menu hanging on the wall, but in the menu book on the counter, which were italian dishes, which came to me as a surprise though I already knew but forgot they were fusion. She recommended the basil fried rice so we got that on her recommendation. I heard the pad thai wasn't impressive so I opted out and was glad she didn't recommend it. She told us there was water and that we could get glasses/silverware over there. She seems very jolly and acknowledged everyone, something i did not expect! pad woon sen- glass noodles! The portion was fine, but after eating it awhile it gets salty! So it was good we had another entree. basil fried rice- omg love it!! Glad we got it, i love rice dishes so it was heaven. server that brought the dish was nice, and got us extra dishes when asked. I stopped at Crazy Noodles during a bike ride along the Norwottuck Rail Trail. The menu is extensive, with lots of forms of pasta for carbo loading. Not super busy on a Saturday afternoon, with plenty of places to sit. The Sunshine Noodles was very satisfying, and a perfect amount of "hot" for a "one pepper" meal. The food was fresh and the atmosphere casual. Nobody complained when I put my folding bike in the corner, either, which is nice. Thanks to the staff at Crazy Noodles. read more

Every once in a while when we are in the Amherst area we get a craving for Crazy Noodles. This noodle shop has been one of our Amherst go-to restaurants since we were in undergrad and we love to return from time to time. The meals here are decent and the prices aren't terrible. Our favorite items on the menu are their chicken and broccoli noodles as well as their spring rolls. The spring rolls are cooked perfectly and the dipping sauce is delicious! The staff here is always polite and the dining area is comfortable.We continue to come back to this restaurant because the staff here really makes us feel welcome. Often they strike up conversion and make it a point to check in with us to see if we are enjoying the meal. In the end, the food here is pretty good but again the staff keeps us coming back. read more

Having a strong desire to find a good local Thai place we decided to give Crazy Noodles a try. Again, being in Amherst center there is no free parking; I do much prefer free parking. We walked in and were greeted by a guy behind the counter who told us to sit anywhere we liked. He came over to answer any questions and we quickly made some decisions. You have to walk up to the counter to order and pay which I like because you can control the pace. We ordered a noodle dish, a rice dish, a soup to split and a couple of Thai iced teas. We were given cups for water without asking and while we were filling those we got our iced teas. The food was out quickly and was brought to our table. The food all seemed quite fresh and the ingredients were high quality. The noodle dish, glass noodles, was very good. the noodles were cooked well and it had a nice fresh, clean, Thai taste. The rice dish, pineapple fried rice with chicken, was good but not great as I wanted more flavor tasting a little too clean without enough spice but most people in western mass would like this a lot. The soup wasn't for me at all but my girlfriend really enjoyed it. Thai iced tea is always good, I don't know that I've ever had a bad one and this was no exception. We got the excess food to go with no hassle about getting a box, just walked up to the counter. All in all a good place without enough Thai flavor but the best in the Amherst area. The first couple time I went here, I liked the place - see my original review below. Sadly, it did not hold up over repeated visits, quality just kinda fell off. It's still possible to order passable food here, and they have recently dropped the menu prices a little bit, but I really can't recommend the place at all. Again, I've never tried anything Italian here, but if that was what I wanted, I'd go to Pasta y Basta before this place. I called them and asked if they could make the "crazy pesto" dish but just with plain pesto and plain pasta instead (pesto was the only thing appealing to me at the moment) and they said "yes," so I ordered that. When my food came, it was exactly like the description of "crazy pesto." I tried to eat around the extra stuff, despite the fact that there were ingredients bad for my stomach in there. I went there for lunch. I used to go often I Ordered the Drunken noodles with flat noodles , veggies and red pepper flakes. I don't eat meat so I got tofu. When my meal got to me the tofu was burnt and dry. It was terrible. I look over to the host stand / cashier stand and the server and cashier were just on their phones texting !!! When one of them finally looks around and up at me I ask for some new tofu. She didn't apologize.. gave attitude just went to the kitchen grabbed some COLD UNCOOKED tofu and slammed it on the table, Then walked away. Horrible horrible customer service. This review is mostly for the yummy basil fried rice. I'm normally not a huge fan if basil, but this fried rice is bomb especially when you ask to make it spicy. The crispy wontons are also delicious! I wasn't a huge fan of this place at first, but now that I've found my favorite dish, I definitely come by more often. Service is friendly, plenty of open seating to come with friends, and overall a nice environment. It's nothing fancy but perfect for a casual lunch. Wonton soup comes with fried wontons that are crispy like hell. Best sesame dressing with Asian shrimp salad! All noodles dishes here are quite decent. You just need to find the one for you. Taste varies from Red Devil to Pad Thai to Pad Mee Know to Mediterranean Lover to Mom's Favorite to Sesame Noodles to Spicy Basil Beef, it's likely you'll find the true love only after you try some. I was pushed to write this review after reading the other negative reviews, and noticing how off-base they are. Crazy noodles offers both asian-style, and italian-style noodles. And both are really, really good, if you go in with the right expectations. Taste/dollar, there is nothing better in Amherst. From the italian menu, the Pasta Roma, the Creme de Penne, and the Crazy Pesto are all really good. My Indian friends especially love the Crazy Pesto, usually ordering it extra spicy. From the asian-style menu, the Pad See Yu, Pad Thai, and Mom's favorite are all really good as well. In the case of all of these dishes, they're not that fancy. It's mainly noodles, with a little addition of protein and some vegetables. However, out the door, everything included, you're going to spend less than 9 dollars. And if you don't have a huge appetite, you're going to have enough for lunch. One person said they'd rather go to Pasta e Basta. Personally, I think they're crazy. You'd be spending twice as much there, and the italian food is better at crazy noodles. And one might want to compare crazy noodles to the new Thai restaurant in town, but again, you're going to be spending a lot more money (since you have to tip) and the food isn't any better. Personally again, I'd say it's worse. Along with the food, the lady who works at the cashiers station is really nice, and always smiles and says hi to us when we enter. I like this place. I love the butter parm with steak, and this pesto dish I had. Serving size is right, if not on the smaller side- which I profoundly appreciate. The bubble tea here is better than at Souper Bowl and Miss Saigon, but nothing like proper bubble tea. Here at least, they know how to cook tapioca so it isn't a starchy mess. The actual liquid part still has something to be desired. For me, it's always been too syrupy, or too watery, or just a little... off. The mango shake I had was really icy and consequently, watery. The plates are a little bizarre- none of them match. It's not a big deal, but is a little quirky. The guy behind the counter is super nice. Service is awkward. Seat yourself, menus on the table, order at the counter, pick up at the counter, silverware, extra plates, and fountain drinks to the side. These three things are: Thai iced tea, wonton soup, and the crispy wonton salad. Ah-mazing!!! Reasonably priced. The wonton soup is so much more than you ever expected from wonton soup. Sprouts, wontons are FRIED, fresh cilantro...plus it's cheap. 4 or 5 bucks. The wonton salad has these same fried wontons, raw red bell pepper, cilantro, black sesame seeds, amazing dressing...can't remember what else. So. Good. Super picky boyfriend loved both. The ambience leaves a bit to be desired, but you have to figure the place doesn't have the money to embellish much or they would. The food is great. I went there on a Sunday afternoon for lunch. I ordered Pad-C-U (that's how it was written on the menu), which was one of my favorite when I used to live in the bay area. I think the food was quite good. Much better than what i expected. I also ordered bubble tea, which was a horrible idea. The bubbles were fine, but the tea was completely watered down, and it wasn't sweet at all. My friend ordered Taro bubble, and hers wasn't sweet at all either. I think the inside looks nice and clean, and the atmosphere was quite well-put. ------ I'm re-writing this review after three years since I really like this place now and often go there. The guy that works the front is super nice and he always remembers my face. The food has improved over the years, and so has the tea!
