1/2 (4.5 Stars) I visited Crazy Gringo BBQ twice while in Southern California for a soccer tournament, and it quickly became one of my favorite BBQ spots in California. The standout was definitely the brisket. It's the best brisket I've had in California so far. While it wasn't quite as smoky as what you'll find at Terry Black's in Texas, it was still outstanding. The bark was a little softer than I personally prefer, and I'd love a bit more coarse pepper flavor, but the meat was tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. Other highlights: * Pork belly burnt ends were excellent. * The double smash burger was awesome and a surprise favorite. * Pulled pork was moist and flavorful. * Chicken tenders were huge, crispy, and cooked perfectly. * Fries were fresh and delicious. The sides were solid across the board, especially the beans and mac & cheese. Overall, Crazy Gringo BBQ served some of the best barbecue I've had in California. It's not trying to be Texas BBQ, but it absolutely stands on its own and is worth a visit if you're anywhere near Upland. I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in the area. 1/2 read more

Located inside Kings Brewing, there's an area for a live band and tvs showing sport game. I got their 2 meat, 2 sides platter ($26). I got their crinkle cut fries and potato salad with an order of sliced brisket and St Louis style spareribs. The brisket was moist and smoked nicely. We ordered Easter catering from Crazy Gringo BBQ for our family, and I was ridiculously impressed from start to finish. First off, Jon and Jen were awesome. They were genuinely kind, welcoming, and the kind of owners you can tell truly care about both their food and their customers. That alone stood out, but what really put it over the top was the service. They actually carried the food out to our car, which was above and beyond, especially on a busy holiday. You just do not get that kind of service from many places anymore. They also put extra care into packing everything. Nothing felt thrown together or rushed. It was packed neatly, carefully, and in a way that showed they really wanted everything to arrive right and still feel special when we got home. That attention to detail matters, especially when you're ordering a big family meal for Easter. Now for the food: it was outstanding. The quality and cut of the brisket was 5 star. Tender, flavorful, perfectly cooked, and clearly made from quality meat. It was not dry, not overly fatty, and not one of those catered briskets that looks better than it tastes. This was the real deal, and everybody noticed. The ham was smoked to perfection. Great flavor, moist, and cooked just right. Ham can be hit or miss, but this was absolutely a hit. We also ordered full trays of mac and cheese and cowboy beans, and the quantities were huge. They did not skimp at all. So many places call something a "full tray" and then barely fill it. That was not the case here. The portions were generous, the food was delicious, and it felt like we really got our money's worth. The mac and cheese was rich, creamy, and a total crowd pleaser. The cowboy beans were loaded with flavor and were much better than your average side dish. Nothing felt like an afterthought. Every item tasted like it was made by people who take pride in what they do. That's really the best way to describe this place: pride. Pride in the food, pride in the service, and pride in how they treat their customers. Places just do not give service like this anymore. Between how kind Jon and Jen were, the way they helped carry everything out, the extra care they put into packing the food, the 5 star brisket, the perfectly smoked ham, and the huge trays of sides, Crazy Gringo BBQ absolutely knocked it out of the park for our Easter meal. I do not write a lot of reviews, but this one was earned. We were beyond impressed, and I would recommend them to anybody looking for great barbecue and real customer service. Heres what you do. You and your partner come here and order your meals. Grab some drinks from Kings brewery, PB Stout is delicious, then walk it all off cruising the shops up and down the streets. Their BBQ is awesome. Showed up late and majority of their menu was sold out. But their brisket is nice and tender, break apart even. Pulled pork was moist, majority of bbq joints i been to, their pulled pork was dry. Wife was raving about the coleslaw and potatoes salad. Portions to price ratio was above par. My son had the ribs, which were a little dry, but he still enjoyed them. The cornbread was good, and the potato salad and mac & cheese were just okay. I wasn't a fan of the green chiles in the mac, and it doesn't seem like you can order it without them. We also ordered the jalapeño ranch, but it tasted almost exactly like blue cheese, which we all hate. Unfortunately no one ever checked on us, so we couldn't let anyone know or get it swapped out. Service was the biggest disappointment. We stood at the front for quite a while without being acknowledged and eventually seated ourselves. Between the signs saying to order at the front, order drinks at another counter, or order from your phone, it was a little confusing, especially since no one came over to explain anything or ask if we needed help. We also noticed other parties being greeted while we weren't, the bartender didn't seem very happy to be there or welcoming... Overall, it's a cool little newer spot in downtown Upland, and I'm glad we finally gave it a try. The food had some highlights, especially the meats. 4th time here July 9th 2026 during France vs Morocco fifa game. I do not drink or are able to eat spicy fyi. This update review is solely on customer service and food. We have now tried every meat on the menu in different formats a such as tostadas, tacos, slice meats etc. 5/5. Everything is delicious. I was accidentally served the wrong suace on my wings today (spicy buffalo which I can't do do to intestinal issues) but my wife tried one (and mentioned the spicy level) and she said 5/5, we did return them and Desiree and Ricky took care of us bringing out our bbq wings asap. Top notch service! We ordered wings bbq 5/5, burnt end tostadas 5/5, brisket and pull pork fries 7 stars! so far the Brisket, burnt ends and wings have been the best we have had around this part of the 909. Yes yes I understand some will say there's a place that's better etc with a 2 hour drive, 2 hour wait, and twice the price. Ok, cool story. At first, we were primarily there to drink some brews from King's Brewing. King's Brewing used to have their own location but ended up closing, and a few months later they reopened in the same spot as Crazy Gringo BBQ. Let me just say, this place truly has the best of both worlds: good BBQ and good beer. I'll focus only on the BBQ for this review. The restaurant itself is very spacious, with plenty of indoor seating as well as outdoor seating. There are lots of TVs for anyone who wants to come in and enjoy a game, and they even had a Pantone 294 flag, which was a nice touch for the large fan base of our beloved Dodgers. The host and waiters were very helpful and gave great opinions and advice on what to order. Ordering was fairly simple, and one of the best parts is that even if you're sitting at the same table, each person can order on their own phone by scanning the QR code. This completely eliminates the hassle of splitting the bill. There were so many tempting items to choose from, but I ended up going with the BBQ sandwich. You can choose any meat you want, and I went with the PB burnt ends. It was incredibly delicious and packed with flavor, exactly how good BBQ should be. It came with a side of fries that were seasoned to perfection. My sister ordered the pulled pork loaded fries, which were also very tasty. Several of my friends went with brisket and sausage platters, paired with sides of mac and cheese and BBQ beans. Sadly, they did not share, but I honestly can't blame them because everything looked way too good. Another plus is that the food came out fairly quickly, even though the place was busy. They also had a live band playing classic rock tunes, and if it felt a bit loud, there was space toward the back where you could still comfortably hold a conversation. You order on a QR code and tip and pay upfront. Not a fan of tipping before getting any service, but service was speedy. My partner ordered the meat plate, the brisket was good. We liked the pickled onions. The smash burger just felt like a regular burger, but without lettuce, onions or tomatoes and lacking in seasoning. Didn't really taste like a smash burger, more like a slightly squished burger. Either way, I don't recommend it, get the bbq instead. Fantastic customer service, and tasty BBQ! The Inland Empire lacks BBQ, and Crazy Gringo BBQ is stealing the show, with quality, tasty and super friendly customer service. This thing could easily feed four maybe five if you throw in a light eater or two. It came stacked with brisket so tender it practically melted, sausage with the perfect snap, pulled pork swimming in smoky sauce, and all the extras like pickles, pickled onions, and Hawaiian buns. For sides, we grabbed the beans, mac and cheese, and potato salad. The mac wasn't just your standard cheesy goodness, it had some sort of chili pepper mixed in, giving it a little kick that kept us going back for more. The beans had just the right amount of sweetness, and the potato salad tasted exactly like something mom would whip up for a summer cookout. We washed it all down with a few Kings Brewing beers, which were the perfect pairing for a BBQ feast of this size. The food portions were good, especially the sides. The price for the 2 meat 2 sides plate was very decent in comparison to other bbq places For drinks you order it from the bar. This isn't a true sit down restaurant with full table service so don't go in there expecting that. But if you need help with ordering you can just ask them. Expect full brewery vibes. Amazingly tender meats, which I'm very picky about. Great flavor and Barbecue sauce. I recommend the barbecue beans and the French fries, which were cooked to a nice crisp. The only negative is the fries aren't as good if you get them to go, because they arrived cold when I ordered through DoorDash. The atmosphere inside is friendly, but it's not a full service place, but more of a hybrid of a sit down restaurant and fast food, with seat yourself and ordering through the APP. Although, if your not comfortable ordering through an APP, someone will be happy to take your order at your table, but you still need to go to the register by the bar to order drinks, even soda. We threw together a very last-minute party for my grandfather's 82nd birthday and decided to try Crazy Gringo BBQ after seeing them on Instagram. Best decision ever! We ordered 4 Chingón platters and 2 orders of wings, and everything was phenomenal. The brisket was incredibly tender and juicy, practically melting in my mouth, and the pulled pork was just as flavorful. The wings were outstanding--the sweet red chili and Parmesan flavors were the perfect appetizers. The portions were huge, so we had plenty of leftovers (they definitely don't skimp!). What impressed us even more was the hospitality. They provided plates, napkins, utensils, wet wipes, and even an entire bottle of BBQ sauce. The space is beautiful with a laid-back, welcoming vibe that makes you want to hang out for a while. Now let's talk about the BBQ... easily the best I've had in the Upland/Rancho Cucamonga area. Everything was packed with flavor, cooked perfectly, and clearly made with LOVE! You can tell these folks take pride in what they're serving. We ordered the Sampler Trio Street Tacos, Loaded BBQ Fries with burnt ends, and two tostadas -- one with pork belly and one with burnt end brisket. I personally had the burnt end loaded fries and the tostadas. My favorite was the pork belly tostada -- that is the definition of a flavorful bite. The loaded fries with burnt ends were also very tasty. The flavor was really good. If I came back, I'd order the exact same thing. For anyone into breweries, this spot has a legit smokehouse inside -- not just snacks or bar food, but real-deal BBQ.
