My husband and I really like this place. He especially likes that they offer beef burnt ends. If you don't like pork, and you like barbecue, this place is very accommodating in their variety to that. We live in the high desert so any opportunity to try something new, we take advantage of. I had a friend who was in the area for an appointment and asked if I wanted her to bring something up. I saw this restaurant advertised on Instagram and since it looked delicious, I decided to give it a try. I looked up their menu on Yelp and told her what I wanted. The video had it looking yellow and creamy, but what you actually got was brown and dry. Pulled up to Mike Henry's BBQ and ordered a half-pound of brisket. The brisket was so smoky and ridiculously tender it melted in my mouth and didn't even need the BBQ sauce. I tried it anyway, and it was delish!!! Bonus points because that sauce is legit!! I requested this place from My Son to bring over as we celebrated My Birthday. I had to work all day so it would have been convenient to have instead of going out. My Son called the place and they said he had come before they closed at 7. He got there to the over crowded plaza and attempted to park. When he got in finally they said they sold out. I opted to get their Texas Style Beef Brisket with mac n' cheese and collard greens. Texas Style Beef Brisket: The beef brisket was amazing. It was super tender, packed with. flavor and had the right amount of fat on it to keep it juicy. Every bite had a smoky, savory taste that melted right into your mouth. Maybe it's me being greedy, but I wish it came with one more slice of meat. However if you're a brisket fan or in the mood for BBQ this spot is worth coming to try. Mac N' Cheese: Besides the meat, the mac n' cheese was definitely the star of the show. Hands down one of the best mac n' cheese I've ever had. It was creamy, cheesy, packed with flavor and not saturated in oil. Every bite was so satisfying. Would come back just for the mac n' cheese. Collard Greens: I love collard greens and these were alright. It was a bit plain, but I feel like it evened out the flavors of everything out on the plate. I had been eyeing this place for a while due to a sample I had a while back and I'm glad I did. The 3 stars are due to the pretty awful service we received. When we arrived the gentlemen was assisting a lady with her order as we stood behind her waiting do her to be assisted which took already took a while due to side convos. Then once she left we stood there for a good 5 minutes just feeling stupid while he paced back and forth now with another coworker which almost had me leave. Luckily they greeted us and took out order. The food is good the meat is super tender and FLAVORFULLLLL and the beans delicious as well as the Mac just not the best in the world. It was my first time trying this place and I had a pretty good experience. Apparently this place can get pretty busy and run out of sides pretty quickly but I think I was just lucky that day. Keep in mind that this place is also in the Haven City Market so there are a ton of other food places surrounding this restaurant. Once you get your food, you can pretty much sit anywhere--I decided to eat my meal with a drink at one of the bars. On Saturdays they have burnt ends so I was really excited to try those along with a side of mac and cheese and baked beans. I really liked their burnt ends. Usually some places will give you more fatty pieces but that was not my experience at all. The meat was juicy and well seasoned and the BBQ sauce on the side paired really well. The mac and cheese wasn't the best I had but it was pretty decent. I also think the baked beans were a little on the sweeter side and with the BBQ sauce I found the sweetness overpowering. I would likely order a different side next time. Stopped by for a quick lunch and it was my first time here! I've had a lot of BBQ and MH is right up there with the best. I had the brisket, which was well seasoned and cooked perfectly. I'm late with this review. I've eaten here about 3-4 times. I always order the pulled pork, mac n cheese and occasionally the collards. I have never been disappointed. In fact, I will go as far as saying it was (hopefully still is) among the top, bbq restaurants I've had in a long time. I haven't found a restaurant like this that compares to what I get when I travel to the southeast of course lol, but it's not far off. With this place, I have never gone wrong. I had a craving for some spare ribs/St. Louis ribs something fierce so I decided to come out here for dinner. I remembered this place from an Elite event some months earlier and I remembered it being a place I wanted to sit down to a full meal with. I'm happy to report the spare ribs were fantastic. They were tender, juicy, and came with a pretty hefty portion in the 4 bones. I usually go for a half rack, but--that's what? two or three more bones? Four was plenty to make a dent in my hunger and judge the superior quality of their meats. The Mac was alright, but the baked beans were delicious. I could eat a whole bowl of that side. And when I got there, the order was ready for me, packed nicely. I got the smoked pork ribs combo with BBQ baked beans and collard greens. The ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender and so flavorful! The baked beans had great flavor--sweet with a bit of a kick, and the collard greens were cooked perfectly! I also ordered a half pound of the Texas style brisket and a regular order of fries for my kids. The brisket was delicious and also incredibly tender. The fries were cooked and seasoned well. Their BBQ sauce had a lot of flavor as well--with a little spice to it. I enjoyed using it on the ribs and brisket. The portions are decent sized. Even sharing the meals we still have some leftovers. The greens and meats were tender and flavorful. The mac n cheese were cooked to perfection. Service was top tier. This past weekend, one of my stops in Haven City Market (HCM) was at Mike Henry's BBQ. I think they are a fairly new place because I don't remember them being here last year. They make some amazing pulled pork and with fries... that's the combination right there! Well, that's exactly what I ordered on my 2nd visit. For my first visit, they ran out of them, but then again, I can't blame them because it was near their closing time... I snooze, I lose LOL. I did get a side of beans from that 1st visit... beans were very tasty. Anyway, back to my 2nd visit, I got my pulled pork fries. WOW... tons of pulled pork topped over the fries. I wasn't expecting that much pork... I'm not complaining LOL. Just surprised and grateful. Fantastic tasting! It comes with BBQ sauce, red onions, and jalapenos. I asked them to separate all the condiments so it won't make it soggy. Thank you for accommodating! Staff was nice. Service was timely. Prices are very reasonable for the portions given. Sometimes we pick them up uncooked to bbq in our smoker at home and I'll only buy them from here as I haven't been able to find them anywhere near us that's anywhere close to being as delicious. Mike Henry is probably the better bbq I've had so far around our area and some days they do tend to underperform my cravings but I feel from enough experienced eating BBQ, I also see and taste when BBQ are freshly sliced upon order. That's where I stand with BBQ, in general, when I get slices of BBQ, especially brisket, I picture it to be moist, juicy, fat rendering, and recently I got just dry or warmed up slices. The other day we visited Mike Henry's BBQ because of a good review we recently read. We even had a nice conversation with Mike himself, so I wish I could have given him the best review possible. But...the cole slaw was really lacking any kind of flavor. And...our meals came with Texas Toast, which we never received. When we went back to get our toast and a drink refills we were greeted with a "back in 30 minutes" sign . As for my pork spare ribs, they were very good. Great smoky flavor and their bbq sauce was awesome. My bbq baked beans were also delicious and I loved the little kick they had. My wife really enjoyed her pork rib tips and fries meal. Her fries came piping hot just like she likes it. This was only our second time visiting Haven City Market and now we have a favorite place when we are in the BBQ mood. I've been visiting Mike Henry's since it went by a different name. I'm not much of a bbq person, but the brisket and the chicken here changed my perspective. The chicken is SO good. Do not pass on the chicken. This restaurant is probably one of the only places in Haven City Market that I could go to every time I visit and not get tired of. My go to sides are the collard greens, creamed corn, and the slaw. Now and then they'll run some specials like a brisket burger that was bomb or brisket chili that would've been perfect with some rice. Besides a la carte sides and proteins, they have dishes like loaded fries and sandwiches. One time, my coworker got a chopped chicken bbq sandwich but he left it unattended so I ended up eating all of the sandwich's insides (since I can't eat bread). I love how all the components balance and work together. So so good. I think the best part about this place is the hospitality. The workers here are always friendly and cordial, but they just got some online popularity recently and it was the first time I've seen a long non-stop line during lunch time. Despite the pressure, Mike Henry took the time to step out, shook hands, and thanked everyone waiting in that line while they were pushing out orders as fast as they could. Very cool guy. read more
