They recently expanded into the space next door. They were closed for what seemed like forever, but now that they've re-opened, it was worth the wait. The new space is very cute. They have expanded their menu now to include Korean BBQ and Shabu-Shabu--which I haven't gotten to try yet but I am super excited to. They added ramen to the menu as well. I had the spicy rainbow roll. Very beautiful and delicious. Good portion for the price. My only criticisms are- It was not at all spicy. I ordered it to go and put my own hot sauce on it. Came in last night to celebrate the semester's end, and luckily there were tables available, so we sat at a four-top in the back. My girlfriend and I browsed the sushi list, marking off different items along the way. We also ordered a large bottle of Asahi. Right away, more and more customers began arriving, and the restaurant was soon full. There were people standing outside waiting for a table, and we watched as the staff put two tables together for a large party that called ahead. This didn't slow down our order of egg rolls, but did account for a long wait for the check later on. As the miso soup started to run low, our fish arrived. The seven slices of tuna were amazing to behold, beautifully colored and textured, and equally agreeable to the tastebuds. The salmon nigiri was soft and easy to bite through, while the yellowtail presented the most complex taste yet. We also enjoyed the mysterious third nigiri we received, which we don't remember ordering but found tasty nonetheless. The real American sushi experience came from the specially Red Robin roll. Copied from their menu, this roll features "spicy tuna and cucumber inside with tuna, mustard cream sauce, and eel sauce on top." This isn't a particularly adventurous combination, but it's a delicious one that also provides a pleasing tactile experience in the mouth. I chose to eat the pieces in two bites each. Overall, much better meal than we had expected given some of the things we had read about this place. Based on the heavy traffic of customers, it would appear that word has gotten out. We were staying over in Albuquerque for the night and looking for somewhere to eat. The sweet girls at the hotel recommended a bunch of places and this was on the list. We checked reviews and settled on here. So glad we did. This was some of the best sushi I've ever had. We ordered a chicken teriyaki bowl and a chicken yakisoba as well but we're so full from the sushi, we didn't get to it. We took it back to the hotel and the kids enjoyed it later. Craving sushi rolls on a sunday night, we ventured to this cute little spot on central. I'm assuming they wanted to compensate for how HOT it was outside by blasting their AC. We got a crunchy roll and dragon roll. The crunchy roll was overly doused with soy sauce bc thats all I could taste. The dragon was much tastier and more satisfying. our 2 rolls cost us 24 bucks. Verdict: Haven't found the crazy but I did find some good fish. I'll never have super high hopes for fresh sushi in a desert but there are some half decent places in the ABQ. Crazy Fish has always treated us well and I respect the chef; trusting him to deliver a consistently good tasting roll. It's a good 3.5+. I had the Unagi and avocado rolls on my last visit and a Combo C on the one before that. The more traditional rolls have also been well executed on our prior lunches. From what I've seen, you can't go wrong and Crazy Fish is one of the better sushi restaurants in the immediate area. Beware the "all you can eat" sushi option nearby. Read up on that one beforehand so you know all the rules that go along with that meal. read more

I want to preface by saying that the sushi selection in NM has much to be desired (an understatement). That said, 2 sushi restaurants in ABQ make the cut. If you're looking for a delicate, artful sushi experience, this ain't it--BUT if you want thick slices of fresh fish, hearty portions, and consistent quality, Crazy Fish is crazy delish. We have been eating here for years (6+ yrs) and always leave happy and satisfied. In fact, this sushi bar is our go-to restaurant for any treat or special occasion--birthday, anniversary, celebration, whatever. The specialty rolls are creative and tasty, and we always order at least one with our usual nigiri selections. We've also tried most of their salads and hot appetizers--it's all been delicious and well-executed, you really can't go wrong here. The owner/head sushi chef is one of the hardest working folks I've seen in the restaurant biz. If you eat at the sushi bar and order from him, he will remember you and what you like, and even recommend new dishes to try based on your past preferences. This is exactly the kind of experience you want at your local sushi joint. We have been doing our part to keep their doors open during the pandemic. We have ordered takeout there at least 2x/month since the restaurant closures began (at least 10x). Our order is always customized, and it's perfect every time. Our sushi budget is breaking the bank, but we can't have one of the only decent sushi joints in NM close down (or we might need to move to another state).
