It is not the biggest restaurant, and is popular, so I would recommend being prepared to wait during "popular busy time" but it is so worth the wait. So I also recommend waiting. The staff is always pretty friendly and accommodating. I shared an app, a roll and an order of salmon sashimi with a friend on both visits. The food is always fresh, and delicious! I never feel like I am being overcharged for what I get either. Going to eat for sushi can feel like that sometimes. The quality of the food is great and everything is always aesthetically pleasing as well. I had their avocado bomb on my last visit and I was delightfully surprised with it. I like avocado in most cases, but sometimes, it can be a lot at one. I thought this was going to be like that when I saw it, but I was wrong. I look forward to getting one of these on my next visit! On my last visit my friend and I saved room for a dessert, one that we saw rotating on their screens that they have in the restaurant showcasing some of the menu items. It was a take on a bananas foster. It looked delicious but alas, we'll see if we can manage to get it next time. Note to self, have dessert first on next visit?

Comparing them to actual Japanese restaurants wouldn't be fair. We were seated almost immediately and they had a nice Japanese painting over our table. Our waitress had a friendly smile and refilled waters regularly. I ordered the Tonkatsu ($15), which is deep fried panko breaded pork loin. I had this with the fried rice and extra cabbage. My wife and I also split an appetizer of Monkey Balls ($7.50), which are spicy tuna, cream cheese and crab stuffed into a tempura fried mushroom. The sauce drizzled on the Monkey Balls tasted spectacular, but the dipping sauce for my Tonkatsu was very bland and did nothing to enhance the taste. In addition, the fried rice turned out to be regularly cooked brown rice and it needed some soy sauce. Overall, we left full and the service was fast the food good. We spent a total of $40.36 for our dinner.

My husband picked up an order that I had placed online. About 30 minutes after he picked it up, I noticed I had a missed call from the restaurant. The only voicemail left was essentially, "It's like a robot." Yes--that's the call screening...but why not leave an actual voicemail explaining why you were calling? Since I was still at work, I asked my husband to call the restaurant. We then learned that the main item we had paid for was never included in our order. I appreciate that you offered a refund for the missing item, but my husband specifically asked if the missing food could simply be delivered since it was the restaurant's mistake, and that request was declined. That was particularly frustrating. If the restaurant realized an item had been left out, why not clearly communicate that when calling? And if we hadn't noticed the missed call or followed up, would we ever have been notified about the missing item? Mistakes happen, but it's how a business handles those mistakes that makes a lasting impression. Unfortunately, this was our first experience with Tokyo Bangkok, and instead of leaving us excited to order again, it left a very bitter taste.
