    My son's birthday cake!!

Cravings did it again! The best best custom cakes ever. Thank you so much for making a gorgeous custom cake.

Wonderful little spot! Delicious baked goods. Lots of gluten free options. Coffee also an option, if you'd like. There are a few seats inside, but still plenty of room to walk around and browse. Flourless chocolate walnut cookies are DELICIOUS.

Definitely get the Oreo brownie! It was delicious!

Cravings Desserts is a really cute bakery in Allenhurst. They also have seating if you wanted to sit and enjoy your goodies inside. My favorite things to buy here are their brownies, carrot cake, cookies, and cheesecake. They make the best brownies, and have a large variety. My favorites are the Oreo, chocolate caramel, and chocolate brownie topped with chocolate buttercream. They are absolutely delicious! The cheesecakes are to die for! They are rich and creamy, and my favorite one is the cheesecake topped with chocolate ganache. They make a really good Monster Cookie too! It's an oatmeal cookie with m&ms, chocolate chips, and peanut butter. They also make a really good carrot cake here! I hear the mousse cakes are another top item, but I tried the chocolate decadence mousse cake, and I just thought it was just ok. I would give this bakery 5 stars, but on my first visit I purchased a chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream frosting, and I thought the cake was dry. It needed to be more moist. I highly recommend Cravings Desserts in Allenhurst for their cookies, brownies, cheesecakes, and their carrot cake!

Coney Waffle - "Ice cream is cheaper than therapy."

Enjoyed some sweet treats at Coney Waffle Ice Cream and Sweet Shop in their Asbury Park, NJ…read morelocation. The inside was decorated with very eccentric designs and bright colors that catch the eye. Ambiance rate 7/10. My boyfriend and I ordered... 1. Medium Cup of Ice cream: This included one scoop of "vanilla/peanut butter" ice cream, and "rich and famous (Vanilla Ice Cream, chunks of brownie, Cookie Dough & Chocolate Swirl)." I also added peanut butter sauce and cookie dough bites. Both ice cream flavors had good flavor to them, and it had a generous amount of toppings. Rate 8.5/10. 2. The Coney Waffle: This included 3 scoops of ice cream in their signature coney waffle cone shaped into a taco. It had a scoop of cannoli, "rich and famous," and "the king (peanut butter banana)." Each ice cream flavor was yummy. However, the waffle cone was mediocre. Rate 8/10. 3. Red Velvet Cookie: This half pound cookie had a super sweet chocolate flavor to it, not so much red velvet. However, it was still good to eat. Rate 7/10. The staff were friendly and the service was quick. Overall, this dessert shop on the boardwalk is a good place to check out if you're in the area!

The ice cream is delicious, the flavors offered are varied/unique, and the additional products are excellent too. I'm very much a cup person when it comes to ice cream (I don't like the experience being marred by constant vigilance/paranoia over whether the ice cream is about to melt from the cone to my paw), but this is the one place I'm willing to go with the cone, both for superficial optics and because they're genuinely tasty. I had a Hawaiian Punch-flavored cone a few years ago I still think about from time to time. I stopped by this past Saturday afternoon with the Millennial Chum, on a toasty summer day that was absolutely teeming with people all over the beach and boardwalk. If you'd asked me to guess beforehand, I would have estimated this place would have a line out the door, but we got lucky - I'd say there were maybe three or four people in front of us, and (this part isn't luck) the line moved very quickly and efficiently. While we waited the two minutes or so to order, I gave the merch section to the side a hard look - there are some VERY legit-looking hoodies for sale that are only about $30 or $35 and would easily retail for twice that at a different establishment. I might come back for one. On this particular day, I went with a small cup (two scoops) of the birthday cake ice cream, and I THINK something Oreo/cookie related, which unfortunately I can't definitively confirm because it's conveniently hidden on top of the birthday cake in the accompanying picture. Both were excellent. I've mentioned this many times in prior ice cream reviews, but as long as it's a decent flavor and it's not freezer burned, it's hard for me to give anything other than a full-throated endorsement of it. The servings are huge too - the small is not particularly small, and the much better-behaved Millennial Chum actually went with a kiddie cup in the end. Definitely worth a stop if you have the time and appetite.

Even though they only opened at 5pm, there was already a lively crowd at 5:30. We started with Polpettine Di Pollo, organic chicken meatballs with bell pepper, garlic, spinach and pomodoro. The order was large and delicious! Piping hot as well. Carol chose the Pappardelle al Telephono Nostro, house made pasta, mozzarella, tomato-cream sauce and fresh basil. this was a large order and my wife loved it. I chose the Tortelloni alla Bergamasca, veal tortellini with black truffle and rosemary veal reduction. Excellent as well! Dessert consisted. of a shared Pistachio Creme Brulee that was perfect. Case in point - this restaurant has apparently been in the downtown area for several years and I had no idea. I stopped by here for lunch on Memorial Day with the Millennial Chum, and in a totally risky move, didn't make a reservation anywhere and just decided to wing it. The Millennial Chum's only requirement was that it be a place neither one of us had been to before, so after a very quick search/walk, we noticed this place and also decided we had a hankering for Italian. Done. I don't know how to describe the interior, but "yellow" and "modern" comes to mind. This isn't a stodgy white tablecloth kind of place; it's vibrant and hip, I'm sure trying to capture that classic Asbury demo. Really unique. The weather was a little meh, which worked in our favor - although there was a decent amount of foot traffic in the downtown area 70% of which were pooches, only one other table was occupied in here. We were able to sit down and were served very promptly. We were both very intrigued by one of the apps on the verbal specials menu - mango burrata, which sounded like sort of a mess, but also worth a try. Definitely more of the latter. Never would have thought to combine these two ingredients together, but it was really excellent and an interesting palate pairing. The presentation was solid as well, and this...didn't last long, although given that we both ordered entrees perhaps we should have been more responsible in that regard. Something I'd recommend for the regular menu in the future for sure. A lot of the entrees looked interesting and pretty authentic; this isn't just spaghetti and chicken parm (I'm not actually sure either was even on the menu). The one that emotionally spoke to me the most was the Pappardelle (one of my fave pastas and always pleased to see it) Al Telefono Nostro. Really hit the spot, and as you can see a really hardcore portion. The tomato cream sauce was light and flavorful, and the only nitpick I had (just a personal palate preference) was the inclusion of the sliced tomatoes. I'm sure a ton of people love those, and it basically adds a level of authenticity to the dish that a barbarian like me just can't quite appreciate. I made sure the Millennial Chum had a few tomato pieces though. Really good dish and would order it again. Honestly not sure what possessed us to even look at the dessert menu much less actually order from it, but I thought Oreo Tiramisu sounded interesting, despite the Millennial Chum's yowling that she despised tiramisu. It turns out she doesn't, because once this dish arrived she happily helped herself and decided that her opinion on tiramisu was likely based on a traumatic/misleading childhood incident. Bare minimum, this place gets solid marks for rewriting history for her in the Italian dessert department. But it WAS delicious, which was a theme of our meal. The service was top-notch; our waitress was over regularly and had a strong command of the menu (which I think deserves bonus points, given that this was not Americanized and it helped to have a metaphorical lifeguard helping us navigate some of the trickier stuff; I studied abroad in Florence over 20 years ago, but you'd never know it). Very pleasant. BIg recommend; not a ton of establishments under the radar in Asbury, but this might be one of them.
