There are also warm food options to order. The staff was friendly and upbeat and answered my questions about the baked goods and food. I selected the ginger crinkle and was not disappointed. It was so flavorful and rich with real ginger you could see. I came back the next day for another one. There is street parking but it can be limited when times are busy. Last Tuesday, I called Lilac City Bakery to order a custom Minecraft-themed cake for Paxton's 8th birthday. We talked through everything--flavor, size, layers, filling, and most importantly, the design. I specifically asked for the Minecraft "block" look, and she mentioned adding green grass edging to an 8-inch round cake. I also requested it say "Happy 8th Birthday Paxton." Total cost: $167. Fast forward to Saturday pickup... and it was just a chocolate cake covered in green frosting. No blocks. No characters. Nothing that even remotely said "Minecraft." I shared my disappointment at the counter, and the solution was to add a few pre-cut fondant pieces on the spot. I reached out to management afterward, hoping for some understanding or resolution, and was told: "I do not find that we made any missteps in providing a custom, hand crafted cake which aligns with the theme." and "hope you enjoyed the cake over all, as it was very well done". However I completely disagree. So I'm genuinely asking... are my expectations too high for a $170 custom cake? Because this felt like a pretty big miss.
