Where do I start?? Look no further for your wedding cake than Craig's! First, I had a very specific vision. They executed it better than I imagined! Second, the cake (vanilla and chocolate) and the frosting were delicious! Third, the delivery and setup were flawless. Communication was prompt and professional. I ordered a design birthday cake and it turned out better than I could have imagined. When they took the order, the designer asked very good detailed questions. My daughter loves pink, crochets and she has a gray cat. The designer made a really cute cartoon cat with a ball of yarn unraveling on a pink cake. It was adorable. The cake was delicious too. Pick up was easy too. read more

Craig's Cake Shop truly does the best job for any type of cake you might want. They once made a 3-D cake that looked like our dog's face for "Doggy Daddy" on his birthday, They also did an excellent job creating a full sheet cake for my mom's "celebration of life." It's a very sweet shop with so many choices of fillings, frostings, and designs. Great ambiance. read more

If you dream of cake this is the place for you. Cupcakes, small cakes, wedding cakes and everything in between. Our favorite is the carrot cake with white chocolate frosting. Incredibly moist and flavorful frosted with cheesecake mousse and white chocolate curls! Mini cakes are available frozen for the spur of the moment indulgence all others are made to order. Covid rules mean you call when you get there, stay in your car, they bring out the cake, pay and go. read more

Craig's has been a staple in our house for years, beginning back in 2014 for our wedding. Since then, we've ordered many birthday and other celebratory cakes. Craig's cakes are not only delicious, but also beautifully decorated! I love the many different flavor options to choose from. My favorite is peach, although any other choice is equally as yummy. The best part about getting a wedding cake from them is that on your first anniversary, you can call and get a fresh top tier made, instead of trying to freeze the original as is tradition. For my son and daughter's 1st birthdays they also received a free smash cake with the purchase of a standard size. Hard to beat that! read more

Ordered a baby shark themed smash cake and what I ended up with was coked out-meth shark. We paid over $100 for some cupcakes and a 6" single tier wack cake. When we picked the cake up, the employee commented that they have been getting a lot of baby shark requests lately, but I can't tell by the horrible composition. The women on the phone who took the order sounded harried and mentioned that they could do the cake, but they had 2 weddings to do the same weekend which begs me to think 1) sounds like a personal problem and 2) that our cake was a sloppy, rush job. They are not open on Sundays and I wanted to confirm that I had to pick up my cake the day before, to which she replied, "I already told you twice, we're not open on Sundays". Seems like they won't need future business from me ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ read more

Got my 18th Birthday cake from here. It was yummy and beautiful!! The layers are lemon poppyseed cake, raspberry cheesecake mousse, vanilla cake, lemon curd, vanilla cake. I was disappointed with the frosting. It should've have been a huge surprise because I'm not that big of a buttercream fan but the vanilla buttercream was way too sweet for me and my family (and it was very thick). I wish we'd gone with the signature whipped cream frosting but the ombré sides design wouldn't have worked out with that. Will have to try a 4" or cake push up pop with the whipped cream frosting because the cake taste was great! read more

Stopped in last minute to try to find a chocolate cake for my husbands birthday. We have been on the hunt for a good chocolate cake... that meets his expectations. It was amazing. Light and fluffy chocolate mouse with excellent moist cake and chocolate curls. They have 4in cakes stocked in a multitude of flavors (vanilla, chocolate, red velvet, carrot, and a flavor of the month). I am excited to hear they will be expanding to bigger cakes after a remodel. The lady helping me went out of her way to make sure I got what I needed. What a hidden gem of a place! Cannot wait to try another flavor soon... maybe the carrot cake for fall! read more

Super Delicious! The signature frosting is light and creamy with chocolate curls for texture. I hate buttercream but I love this frosting. The cake was moist and had great crumb. Want a sneak taste? This place exceeded my expectations. It's a little far from downtown madison but worth the drive. I called 5 days before I needed a cake that would serve 50 people and it was no issue to get exactly what I wanted. They did a contactless delivery in nice packaging ( I felt bad I didn't have cash to tip; they deserved it ) at the bridal shower I hosted almost everyone who tried the cake was wondering where I got it. It was so delicious and looked gorgeous. I got the mocha filling with the shaved sides and chocolate. It was literally melt in your mouth good. We had a special cake design for a teenager who wanted specific things, so we had to find a cake shop with the skill level to accurately create what would definitely be considered a masterpiece. Said teenager sketched what they wanted the cake to look like, and we presented the idea to the staff at Craig's exactly 7 days before the actual event. They were excited to do this project, and were good at communicating. In the end, we had a seriously cool dragon cake for a very happy teenager. It was one of those situations where it was so artistically well done, it seemed like a shame to cut it up and eat it. But we slayed the dragon anyway, and it was goooooood. All of the teenager's friends were impressed as were the adults. Thank you Craig's Cake Shop, it was a seriously cool cake that will never be forgotten. read more

Craig's Cake Shop - Looking at the Union from perspective of boater on Lake Mendota! - Bakeries Near Me - Verona, Wisconsin

Craig's is consistently the best cake I've ever had. True, there may have been a slice here and there that's lived up to or surpassed it, but across all flavors, fillings, and occasions, Craig's routinely...takes the cake. Sorry. Had to. Every year I say I'm going to get a cake from Craig's for my birthday, but being so close to Thanksgiving I always put it off until it's "too close to Christmas" and then start the cycle again. This year, however, I really, really wanted cake so I looked over the website and discovered that they have mini cakes that are ready made for walk-ins. You can also call ahead and reserve one if you don't want to chance it. I did just that and made the hour round-trip drive from downtown to pick up my cake: chocolate cake with chocolate mousse and chocolate shavings. When it comes to birthday cake I don't do subtle - the other choices were red velvet, vanilla, and carrot. Their storefront is beyond unassuming - if I hadn't had the GPS to guide me I'd have driven right past it. There's not a whole lot to look at when you walk in, but the woman working was incredibly inviting. I let her know my order and she went back to get it. She said they took it out of their freezer that morning so it should be thawed; I was a little disappointed to find out it wasn't freshly made that day as the "we'll have some made every day and ready to go" description implies. While still tasty, the cake was a little drier and a little less flavorful than the wedding and birthday cakes I've had the pleasure of enjoying. Still better than most cakes, though, so I'll let it slide. In the future, though, I'll definitely get a custom-made cake. Their peanut butter and mocha fillings are incredible. Fingers crossed I remember to order in time next November. :) read more

Craig's Cake Shop - Craig's Cake team did a great job for our daughter's Mermaid cake! - Bakeries Near Me - Verona, Wisconsin

Craig's Cake Shop came recommended from several colleagues and they did not disappoint! We were celebrating my daughter's first birthday and wanted a special cake for our guests that all traveled from out of town. They were very helpful in selecting not only the size for our party but flavor combinations as well. We ended up choosing a vanilla cake with whipped vanilla filling and layer of strawberry jam. The frosting was buttercream top with signature sides. I let them know the wording for the top and pink/gold for colors, but I let them choose how it all looked. THE CAKE DID NOT DISAPPOINT! So many compliments from our guests on the look of the cake and more importantly how it tasted! They even threw in a complimentary (and coordinating) smash cake for the birthday girl- such a sweet touch! I would definitely order from them again and recommend to all looking for a special event cake! read more

Last week, I picked up my fiance's birthday cake: 6 inch chocolate and vanilla cake peanut butter mousse and fudge filling with their signature frosting. So delicious! As expected, the cake layers were moist and not too dense; the peanut butter mousse was so light and had just enough of a kick to give the cake the flavor we wanted, and the fudge was not overpowering. The best part is making sure every bite had the signature frosting (whipped cream and white chocolate shavings)--each bite was so good. The ordering process online is a piece of cake (ha!). I requested the pick-up time for 5pm but was able to pick it up 2 hours earlier due to a change of plans. Great customer service! read more

I never visited the shop, but I did attempt to schedule a cake tasting with them. I'd tasted a cake of theirs at a friend's wedding and it was good, so I thought I'd contact them for a consultation on my own wedding cake. Unfortunately, Craig's Cake Shop doesn't offer a wedding cake contract. Rhonda, who is the manager at Craig's, refused to guarantee anything - not even the date the cake would be dropped off (useless if it's not there on my wedding day)! They told us we'd just have to rely on the testimonials of prior customers and word of mouth. A wedding cake can cost hundreds of dollars, and we wanted to make 100% sure that we were getting what we paid for. This place makes good cake, like I said I've eaten it. But their refusal to put anything in writing makes me fear that they may have had some really bad experiences in the past with dissatisfied customers who wanted all or part of their money back, and their refusal to provide a contract is their way of protecting themselves legally. While talking with a co-worker, she told me her sister discovered a cake shop from verona, that made absolutely delicious cakes, and that I should check it out. so while being a cake-oholic who's off the wagon. I drove the wife out there for some cake. We got a 6" double layer cake. One layer was white, one layer was chocolate with a layer of chocolate mousse in between. It had a whipped icing, with white chocolate shavings. When we got the cake in the car my wife swiped a taste of the icing. She said it was excellent. I took a moment of silence to ponder the cake and champagne plan for later that evening. I was hoping for a Homer Simpson moment when I finally had a chance to devour the cake. it wasn't there. The cake was ok. The mousse was good. The whipped icing firmed and changed texture-down from the heavenly delight to being just ok. I would say a step up from grocery store, am not sure if the quality increase matches the price increase. 6" double=$16 read more

I ordered a cake for my wife's birthday via the website and received confirmation a few hours later via email. When I went to pick it up, the cake had been made perfectly. Since I picked it up a couple of days before the event, I was concerned about it getting soggy, or picking up food odor from the fridge. She recommended using a plastic bag to keep the odor out, which worked very well. The cake itself was delicious! nothing too fancy, but it was a big hit at the party. I would definitely buy here again. read more

This review is far overdue. Craig's cake shop made our custom wedding cakes and went absolutely above and beyond. Anyone can look at my review history and notice I write reviews very seldom and can be a harsh critic. Not only were everyone of Craig's cakes absolutely masterful in appearance and taste, but his personal service, especially for special requests is why I go out of my way to not only recommend him, but to actively encourage others. Craig's is the diamond in the rough of cake shops, excellence for a very reasonable price. I will return here again and again for years to come. read more

I don't have much of a sweet tooth, but Craig's Cakes takes the cake in terms of bakeries. Pun intended... I'm sorry. My first trip to Craig's was with my then fiancé, now husband to sample cakes for our wedding. It was nearly impossible to choose, because every flavor was delicious. Once we made our selection, I showed them a picture of what I wanted the cake to look like, and they did it PERFECTLY (see photos). The coolest thing about the wedding cake experience, is they will actually make the top tier of your cake for free for your one year anniversary, so that you don't have to eat cake that has been sitting in your freezer for an entire year. Since my wedding 5 years ago, I have ordered 3 or 4 cakes for my husband's birthday. The ordering process is super easy. I always place my order online, and when I pick it up it's exactly what I wanted. I know Craig's is undergoing some changes soon with a new owner. I hope the new owner can maintain the same quality and great service that makes Craig's the best place for cakes. read more

Craigs Cakes have one of the best bakery in Wisconsin. They have the excellent mini cakes which are really filling I love vanilla, chocolate, carrot, red velvet . Craigs have variety of yummy flavors available and they never disappoints. The quality of the cakes is so soft fluffy and melts in mouth and flavors are truly rich and real. They are a small local business so the place is small and no seating area or so. Once on my husbands birthday i had order a cake which was designed so beautifully which literally stole my heart. No doubt the cake was absolutely outstanding, me and and my husband both loved it so much also he was surprised with Red Roses cake (flavor- red velvet). Over all this is my favorite place for cakes in Wisconsin and i used to always get mini cakes for weekends. The service is very nice and quick, girls are friendly and help us in choosing the flavors. I would really wanna recommend this cake shop for anybody who loves fresh and delicious bakery. read more
